  • I got a sample of this, based on your review. I value your opinion(s). I love this product! You also have me loving Murad Oil Control Mattifier. Thanks for helping my skin!

  • i'm going to buy thisss!! i need to try out a primer because my makeup is forever coming off my face while i'm in class lol... i'm glad i just found your youtube page... this was very very helpful!! thank you much!

  • I get really shiny but my when I put foundation on my chin it gets really flaky and u can see that I am wearing foundation :( idk what to do? Do u think this will work?

  • @kirpaangad it can help possibly

  • Hi! Got a question Lisa, is there any alternative to MAC 182 Buffer Brush? Like any other brand you may know or sth..THANX!

  • @hollywoodcandids I love the coastal scents pink kabuki so great!

  • Lisa does this primer have tiny glitter and a light scent of the Mac foundation? I remember getting a tester of one of the primers and I loved loved loved it. It had SPF glitter and a light scent of the foundation. Might this be the one?

  • @Norms3000 no this does nto have glitter in it- maybe the reg one has it?

  • Oops! I accidentally pressed the wrong button an flagged it.. I'm so sorry!!!!! Ughh damn iPhone .. But I did have a question... I heard on another review that there are glitter type particles in this.. Is that true ? An if so are they visible?

  • @yreid21 that might be teh original one- this one does not

  • I was just wondering if I just put on primer (with no foundation /make up) do i still need to use make up removal later to remove it? or is fine to jsut leave it there?x

  • @lucile1010 yes because it causes a film on your face same as if yoiu just put on sunscreen

  • thank u for the review, I was looking for a good primer with a high spf since Im over 40 with very fair skin. I have combination skin so I hope it will work. Im going over to the Mac store at my local Mall to pick up some stuff and will try this one. Im also debating wether I should get the Mac 187 brush since I already have a few duo fibre brushes incl. Laura Merciers which I love, and I already have way too many brushes. I don't know, maybe Im falling for the hype, well see.

  • @Puddycat11385 the mac one sheds a lot =I dont think you need both though!

  • I am on the search for a new primer. looking for one without silicones because I can't stand the feel. i feel like it makes me oily too!

what primer are you using nowadays?

  • @angelwings0428 gosh I have so many now it depends on the day but I do like Laura Mercier oil free right now

  • Hi Lisa, I was wondering if photos come out ok being that it has spf in it.....thanks

  • @JesusDiedSoWeCanLive I dont use this when I do photos because of the flash back! :o(

  • @Lisasz09 thanks Lisa.. I appreciate your reply ....I love your reviews

  • I realize this is an old video, but I have a quick question... I have large pores and I like that regular primers fill them in but this one seems more like a lotion. Will this fill them in and help with fine lines like regular silicone primers? thank you

  • @holdthedressing no this one does not have silicone, so it will not fill very well- sorry!

  • @Lisasz09 Thank you for your response! Keep up the great videos!

  • Hi, just a quick question because I'm kind of new to primers (never used any before). You put facial creme first, then primer, then liquid foundation, right? What does primer do for your skin actually? Thank you so much!

  • @ThePerfectPixie yes that is the order- they help smooth your texture and help make the founadtion stay longer

  • Hi, quick question about the prep and prime 50 vs the regular prep and prime. Are they similar iin the way they feel when on? I just got the regular prep and prime b/c I was concerned about the grease factor with the 50. I also have been mixing the strobe liquid w/the prep and prime:) Love your vids thank you so much for putting them out:)

  • @kymmer116 I have never used the regular one- sorry, but the strobe lotion can make the foundation not stay as longer! Good luck

  • haha you said what i ws thinken. well that was a waste of product i was like tsk tsk that was enough for her entire face

  • Forgot to ask you... do you apply additional SPF on your skin after you've used your mac primer?

  • @haemiya no the 50 in it is enough

  • Hello! I've been watching your reviews for a while now and really enjoy all of them. Love how you explain things and get straight to the point. Btw, you're so pretty and your skin is flawless!! Have a great weekend :)

  • Does this product protect against both UVA and UVB rays? I can't find anything about it?

  • @Lemontree23 sorry I am not sure!

  • thanks :3

  • could you wear this by itself too? thankss

  • ii got oiily combiinatiion skiin. iin wiinter, ii rather hav a liil dry to normal skiin, so iis iit lyk ii hav to /can use another priimer fo face? iin wiinter dat iis...

iif yes, den whiich one do u suggest frm MAC.

    ty =D

  • is the spf good if i for normal skin....i was thinking of getting prep+prime skin brightening serum....which 1 do u think wud b better...i dunt a a very dry skin....

  • @DevinaKat I have not tried the Skin brightening one = sorry!

  • @Lisasz09 Thanks aniway....

  • I have very oily skin. Is it okay to use?

  • @princesswamina yes I have oily skin too!

  • Can I use this on before im using my MSF natural?..

  • @etchang12 yes! :o)

  • great review! very helpful! =)

  • very helpful i also have oily skin thanks for the review

  • great video very helpful =)

  • would you use a primer before or after your murad?

  • @TheGlamBeauty only if I wanted the extra spf! :o)

  • would this break u out if you have sensitive skin

  • @issel20 I have never had someone that had an issue with sensitive skin!

  • were can i buy this ?

  • @issel20 at a MAC counter or store!

  • hi lisa, if you put this primer you don't need to apply sunblock esp for summer? this is also a sunblock?...thanks

  • @jmhan06 yes it is both! :o)

  • Hi thanxs for doing this video

I just wanted to ask what other products of mac are good for oil skin

    thanxs

  • @beauty8424 MAC also has an oil control lotion- but I have not tried it yet! :o(

  • @beauty8424 ohhh and their blot powder, fix fluid and powder all all great for oily skin to! :o)

  • does this protect against uva as well as uvb rays?

  • @SwoopSui i am not sure- maybe it will say on the website! Sorry!

  • I swear by this primer!

  • What do you think about the Napoleon Perdis Auto Pilot face primer? Have you try this product? I hope you can do a review about it Thanks!!!!XOXOX!

  • @TheDianita55 I have not tried his primer- sorry!

  • should i apply before or after the moisturizer

  • After your moisturizer has absorbed into your skin.

  • @ebony5b after moisturizer

  • Thanks alot for the review. My question is, shall i use this primer before or after the moisturizer.

  • Thanks so much! I'm going to Egypt over the summer and I have a feeling that my skin will get much more oily than usual and my regular primer (Smashbox Photo Finish) won't be helpful with that. Plus, it has SPF 50 which is an added bonus, especially in the hot desert sun!

  • I wear bare minerals matte foundation, and get oily throughout the day esp in my t zone. Do you recommended wearing MAC Prep and Prime ? Also have you tried MAC Prep and Prime transparent powder ? Is it any good ? Great review btw !

  • yes that does help some, but the Murad oil control works much better as a primer- I have a review on it! The MAC powder is great too! I have a comparison video on that one! :o)

  • Do you recommend it for oily skin ?

  • yes it is fine for oily skin, but if you are really oily and dont need the SPF you should try Murad Oil Control Lotion!

  • Hi Lisa, do you use a moisturizer before you apply this, or is it a moisturizer as well?

  • I do use a moisturizer first also! :o)

  • What do you mean by "setting it with a powder"? I hear you mention that in many of your reviews and I can't figure out what you mean by that. Sorry if I'm annoying you with all of my questions--I don't really wear much makeup so I'm new to all of this stuff.

  • after you apply a liquid you should use a powder- either transparent or one with a slight tint to it or a mineral powder to keep the liquid in place longer! :o)

  • which one would you recommend?

  • either MAC MSF Natural, MAC Prep and Prime, MUFE HD, Origins Multi Grain or Clinique Transparent- it dependso n what you want to spend and what they sell where you live.

  • thanks!

  • How does this one compare to the regular prep and prime? Thicker? Heavier?

  • I am not exactly sure- I had a some put on me for a makeover and my foundation didnt last as long at all!

  • you make great reviews!

    I have one question though;

can I also use this as an eyeshadow base?

  • ( I've read that you use another eyeshadow base, but I was wondering if it's able to hold eyeshadows as well)

  • correct you need a seperate eye shadow base!

  • no it doesnt work as an eyeshadow base! :o(

  • shame...

    but thanks for answering!

  • how come online its 30 dollars so at stores is it 28?

  • i am not sure why it is different!

  • Hello! You apply this also on your eyes or do you use another specific eye primer?

I will buy my tomorrow ! I usually go to events that take all day and I do not want to be worried about my makeup melting or anything (I have really oily skin btw)...

Thank you for this rewiew! =D

  • i use a eye primer that is different- like- urban decay primer potion! :o)

  • I'm on my third tube of this and i'm addicted to it.I bought it last year to use it on my wedding day. I had my make up for about 12 hours (maybe more) I only used the blot powder three times and the foundation looked flawless. I live in the Caribbean and that day we did the pictures before the wedding and it was about 90 degrees, so yes, this is a miracle in a tube =)

  • i usually put moisturiser before i put liquid foundation. how would i used this? should i just put the prep and prime and then the foundation?

  • you would put on moisturizer, then primer then founadtion! :o)

  • HI Lisa!

Does this primer smooths out enlarged pores and any other skin imperfections? I'm currently using the Make Up For Ever HD Primer and it works great to cover up my skin imperfections but it doesn't provide that much oil control.

    Thanks.

  • it does help with your skin tone slightly but it does nto reduce your pore size! It is great for oil control though!

  • Hi Lisa! I was wondering whether or not I should purchase this product. I've heard some ppl say they've broken out from it, so I'm a bit scared of that. I know somewhere down in the comments, you mentioned murad oil control lotion... would that be comparable to this? I'd love to know! Thank you so much! :)

  • The Murad oil control lotion is the most comparable I have found- if you are afraid of the mac I would say to try the Murad! :o)

  • Hi Lisa! I saw this video a few days ago and I immediately went and bought it. I LOVE IT! I have oily skin and I usually have to use blot paper every one or two hours. With this primer I only used blot paper once in 9 hours and the foundation stayed fresh from 7 am to 6 pm. I have used laura mercier, nars, mufe - nothing worked. I am not a big fan of MAC products but this one stays in my make-up kit. Thanks for posting this video :)

  • Hola!

I´m a user of the Clinique city block spf 15 and it dries out my skin (i have combination) does this product dry out as well?

    Thanks for any information!

  • thsi is slightly drying which works great for my combo skin! The MUFE primer with spf 50 is not drying though!

  • Thanks for the info. I don´t know where to get this MUFE primer, in Germany there isn´t much stuff from the States :(

  • It was similar but not the same- the 50 one stays much better than the regular one! I hope thsi helps you!

  • i really wanna try this primer.

where can i buy it online`?

i cant find anyone who ships to denmark ;s

  • I am not sure if they ship to denmark, but you can get it at mac cosmetics online! :o)

  • I have never used the nromal one so I am not sure how long it will last0 the containers are different! Enjoy!

  • Please somebody tell me what CCO means? I keep hearing about this , I need to know if its a deal.

  • Cosmetic Company Outlet! :o) They have left over makeup at thier stores for less expensive- they are usually in outlet malls!

  • Thanks for this review! It was great because I was in between MAC and Smashbox and you helped me decide. I bought the MAC today at a CCO for $21.50!!! :)

  • Hey there.

I'm a boy. I have an oily skin.

Is it ok to apply a prime without having to put any make-up after?

    Please help me.

  • sure you can if you are looking to control oil though i would suggest the Murad Oil Control lotion w spf 15. It is great for oil control! :o)

  • i just tried this..i cant believe im just now hearing how amazing it is..gahh im going to get it!!!

    <33

  • Hi Lisa what do you think of Mac's Prep and Prime for the Lips?

  • I like it but I dont feel it is that different than a good chapstick!

  • lisa!! i was wondering ...i usually love my skin but recently its been sooo hot in toronto and when i look in the mirror at work in the middle of the day my face is soooo blotchy!!!! will this primer helf me???

  • yes a primer will totally help with that! :o)

  • Your skin looks beautiful in this video

  • Do you moisturize first and then put the Prep and Prime on? or do you just use the Prep and Prime alone?

  • i moisturize left it sink in and then I apply the primer! :o)

  • yay! I hope you enjoy it ! :o)

  • yes i like it more than korres becuse of the spf in it! :o)

  • you should wear your hair like this more often, it looks so beautiful!

Thank you for the great review.... like usual!

    <3

  • aww thanks so much- I am glady ou enjoyed teh review! :o)

  • I have just found this video you suggested Lisa about primer I asked, thank you. I will purchase it next week. If I may say, on this video the lighting is the best, therefore I can see the colors perfectly. Sometimes you look a little pale :-)

  • I am glad you found this video and you found it helpful! Enjoy the primer! :o)

  • thanks Lisa for this review...i wasn't sure about what primer I should get, this video was very very helpful! : )

  • I am glad you found teh review helpful! :o) Enjoy!

  • i love this product! got mine last tuesday...i have oily skin and this is very helpful and my m ake-up stays the whole day...AMAZING!!! and NO BREAKOUT! The one from Smashbox broke me out too :(

  • yay! I am so glad this worked for you and that you love it too! :o)

  • tried many high spf face creams but never an actual primer w/spf so thx for this review!! gotmesome 3 wks ago & no break-outs yet on sensitive&combo/dry skin. even drugstore foundation looks great over it. can't compare to other primers but it beats all facial sunscreens I've tried - no white undertone, no greasy shine, no crumbling/peeling when you try to blend/layer other products... there may be less expensive options but for me this one sets the benchmark & I love your detailed reviews!!

  • yay! I am glad you like this- it is my favorite!!! :o)

  • wow thanks so much

  • glad you enjoyed it! :o)

  • Thankyou so much for the review. I've been wanting to try this primer for a while but wasn't sure if it would work. Now i'm deffinatley going to buy it.

& Im subscribing to you:) Great video!

  • i am glad ou found the review and got the info you needed on it! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! Thanks for the sub too! :o)

  • Great review! Thanks for addressing the weird pastey white question - that is key. Been hunting a good high spf product but never thought of looking at primers. So many high spf sunscreens ball up or pill (like an old sweater) when applied... feel sure you would have mentioned that if it were an issue... or is there some trick to applying these? One reviewer said she moisturized 1st, then used this... trying to make up my mind quick - summer's coming!

  • I am glad you found this helpful! :o) I use my moisturizer then let it dry before I apply the primer- then I wait a few min before I apply any makeup! Enjoy it is a great primer! :o)

  • Oh! I just now came across your foundation routine vid - thanks for all of this - its nice the way you give details so clearly =D

  • i am glad that you found my videos and that you enjoy them! :o)

  • I have very oily skin, which one better for me , the spf 50 or the regular one? is this primer can be used on the eyelid also?

  • If you have oily skin the spf 50 is better for you! It will stay better! I do not suggest using it on the eyelids- try using a eyelid primer there! :o)

  • thanks

  • glad you enjoyed! :o)

  • I ordered this product after I saw your review and I really love it. I always wanted to find and sunblock that would leave my skin not oily. This is perfect, high spf and non oily. Thanks so much!!!!!!

  • I totally agree! That is why I love it too! I am glad you love it also! :o)

  • great review! thanks Lisa...

  • thanks I am glad you liked it! :o)

  • great look

the hair and earrings looks amazing

  • aww- thanks so much! :o)

  • which primer would be better for my skin cuz i have dry skin and my matte mousse looks dry after a while of having it on plzz let me knw

  • I think the PP50 would work for you, but you may want to try the regular prep and prime from mac or the Benefit "that gal" illuminating primer! Good Luck!

  • Anyway, that was a super fun, crazy expensive shopping trip but I've sold a ton of goodies on eBay to be able to do it, so it's been fun. It's kind of like I'm just exchanging the stuff I don't want any more for the new stuff I love. Okay, I've rambled enough. As always, thanks for the reviews & info. I look forward to trying the P&P. Hope I love it as much as you do.

  • That is a great way to be able to buy the nw stuff you want! I have abunch of stuff to sell on ebay I just have to figure it out! :oP

  • I went to MAC yesterday and got a MSF Natural for every day and a sample of the Studio Sculpt. The lady talked me into the Prep & Prime too. I also got Painterly, Politely Pink, Nude Slimshine, and two of the Hello Kitty glosses, two lipsticks, pink Beauty Powder, and two glitter liners. Not sure I'll keep the liners. Oh, and the sm & lg makeup bags. The sm one is super tiny. Not sure I like it. Oh, and brush cleaner and Flip shadow. Not sure it looks good on me.

  • you will love the MSF natural- it is a gerat product! ohh i want the SS so bad they just havent received my color in yet! :o( Painterly is a fav of mine too!

  • I think mine lasted about 2 months! That is guessing because I didnt really pay attention! :o)

  • I love how you speak so articulately! after seeing tiffany's video i wanted a second opinion. Thanks very much and keep up the good work!

  • Thank you so much! I am glad this was helpful for you! :o) Enjoy!

  • Okay, so now you've got me wanting to try this product. A little nervous though, since chemical SPF tends to break me out. I also didn't do well with Smashbox primers - broke out and didn't notice any difference in foundation wearability. And it seemed like I had more shine, though I'm not particularly oily. Anyway, thanks again. Great review. (Wish I had asked for a sample today at Macy's Mac counter.)

  • smashbox broke me out also- so did the laura mercier, btu thsi one I love- i would ask for a sample! Doesnt hurt! Let me knwo what you think! :o) Good Luck!

  • Thanx for this review im goin to go pick that up tomorrow along with many other purchases lol GOSH im tryin to save for hello kitty but its so many things i need right now lol but i have tried the studio moisure lotion i believe its called but i broke out really bad so u know i took it back lol but have u heard anything about this product breakin ppl out???

  • haha! that is the only problem with YT- it makes us want more and it is hard to not get things you see on here! I have heard some peopl ehave trouble with sff it breaks them out but I havent had any problems. i have never used the lotions though! I love my wexler line! :o)

  • Hey is this good for LIQUID foundation ????

  • I use it for either! :o)

  • Do you think this is better than the oil control cream? I have a really oily Tzone so I dont really know which one to get :(

  • I have not tried the oil control cream, so i really dont know which is better- why dont you ask for a sample and then try them both to see which works best! Good luck!

  • I didn't know they gave lotion samples, so thanks I'll ask next time :)

  • aometimes it depends on the MA nd the store! Doesnt hurt to ask though! :o)

  • yea you waste a lot of product:( lol. great review. Thank you Lisa.

  • you mean because i always swatch and show the consistency? :o) well I do it to help others! :oP

  • Yay! I'm so glad you tried this! This is good stuff. The only stuff I've found that compares is the MUFE All Mat. I've been using that lately and I think it controls oil even better! But it doesn't hold makeup as well as the MAC Spf 50. I wish I could mix them...hmmm I might!! haha I'm so glad you tried it and liked it! :)

  • yeah love it! weird that the MUFE doesnt stay all day! :o(

  • The MUFE makes the makeup last and stay fresh-looking better than any others I've tried (other than the MAC spf50) but it doesn't have that "grabbing" effect that the MAC has.

  • good to know for when people ask! Thanks!

  • oh and if you have the neutral, contour, and matte one, i'd love reviews on those too as I really want to get them!! :D

  • I have the neutral one also (none of the otehrs) I will compare it in my review! :o)

  • If you have the coastal scents 88 palette, can you do tutorials for that? or reviews or anything? c:
