  • its disappointing how fighters evolve I didn't like how you guys fought. I can't call it sparring because of how you guys actually use your techniques and also your bizarre way of jumping and throwing yourself to your opponent? there is speed but I think these tournaments would really work on there training more rather then just trying to score a lousy point.

  • if you wanna learn how not to fight, watch this video.

  • AAU/WKF pointfighting owns freestyle point fighting, this is a joke...no control of technique what so ever this is basically just brawling but with points

  • I never doing spins and kicking randomly in the air could be considered as Karate. Never occurred to me.

  • what the fuck is this this is not karate after my 7th yar of training i have fought a lot of people but no one this bad this guys all fucking suck

  • 00:07 You can tell these guys all get tough only how to score points, both came in both mawashigeri of the same leg at jodan. if you start in any real Tournament with a round technique like a mawashigeri, you can expect to get smaked clean in the guts or the head. either lights out or wind out.

  • is this seriously a world championship imagine some WKF fighters in there. they would dominate

  • i do point fighting and there is a reason all of the tae kwon do styles and kenpo styles end up losing. this type of fight is all skill and speed. the power is unnecessary although you encounter it in the higher levels and ages. I've personally done this and full contact MMA and kickboxing and point sparring requires the most skill and aestheticism. look up raymond daniels for a true look at this sport.

  • This kind of fighting sucks WTF tae kwon do kicks ass anyday

  • this is the worst kumite iv ever seen. World championships? wot a joke. my god if these people went to a wkf tournement they would all get murdered

  • i like that kick at :24

  • karatevideo guy-Don't listen to these keyboard jockies,we know what's up.These pu^^ies don't stand a chance in an open tournament.AAU people stick to their own, becuase they would run home to their mommies if they came to a NASKA,NBL,FBBA,KRANE tournaments..lol.. :)

  • AWW.... Some of the little kids r cute!! I can't wait for inter-school our tournament this year! It'll b my first time!

  • cool but some are point sparings chek out some of our fughts at my page

  • This isn't even good enough to be called point karate. Go to a traditional Japanese tournament in Europe or Japan or even in the States, when their is money prizes involved....it is full contact with soft gloves and a mouth piece. This is a joke...Do any of the people in this video look like they are in shape? Do they really look like coordinated and balanced skilled athletes? No. This is for people who cannot physically handle the real sport.

  • Come to one of these tournaments and see how you do or are you just an internet wanna be thug? The US Open in Orlando is coming up July 4th.

  • You both have a point, but come on guys... It's just that there are different types of tournaments.

  • @karatevideoguy

She'd brobably get herself disqualified for excessive contact, for hitting at least within a foot of her opponent. Thats the thing about Shitty people who compete in shitty Competitions, they usually have Shitty judges too. Most judges in Karate Tournaments, Even multi-martial art ones, wear a uniform, or Gi to designate them as officials. some of those judges looked like they were pulled off the street.

  • @karatevideoguy

any karate-ka with any self respect wouldnt enter this shit. nothing wrong with it, but its not karate, its not even kumite, you should call it tag!

  • @karatevideoguy i think what he means is that you guys are dressed up like power rangers for the sake of protection when this is a martial arts competition... not a flashy game of tag... i know the concept of point sparring, but that doesnt negate the need for clean technique, adequate power, and judges that give the point to the winner with the best technique, not just the person who touched the other person first...

  • i agree with u about them not looking coordinated and balanced. it may be about speed and accuracy but some of these ppl have poor technique. if u notice how some jump forward and punch the head, the easiest way to stop that is a side kick. its all about reaction too.

  • @lisa228855 look this is america and we do shyt wayy different here we actually have lives who wants to pound on a tree for hours and who cares whos in shape or not we have mental skills, and thats all it takes.. and honestly u sound like a bored bytch with nothing to do but pretend like u know something.. get a life fukkin lame

  • @jrock777777

Hahaha your totally know what your on about huh? Fucking watch the Karate Kid at least you wanky tool, they let Americans into the WKF, but this shit is the reason they don't get very far. If i showed any of these guys Bunkai to a kata they'de probably have a mental overload at the fact the two are related, then even worse so because you could actually hurt someone with it..

  • @lisa228855 yeah try to compete in one of these! you dont necessarily have the right to say anything against it. get off your fat ass and do it!

  • @lisa228855 Point sparring tests reaction time, speed, and accuracy. It isn't a real fight. It doesn't mean it requires less skill, stamina, or conditioning. When the kicks come, they can still hurt - especially in the 18 and above division where chest protectors aren't needed. Most techniques in a point fight can be used in a real fight - instead of you stopping after one punch you follow up with another, then maybe a kick or a reap.

  • It is tag. It's all about hitting the other guy first. I've been taking lessons at a point fighting school for 6 years now. It's tag, people. Speed wins everytime, not how pretty it is, not how hard it is and it usually isn't, which is why no one wears any protectors at black belt. Let's just call it what it is.... TAG!

  • Kumite rocks :) and for those that say it looks like TKD cuz of the kicking~ there's no "safer"/faster way to move in to your opponent unless if you start off with a kick.

Agreeing with sparring not being tag! It's all about the speed and accuracy~~

  • Look at Raymond Daniels , Great point fighter great full contacts fighter. Fighting is fighting no matter what label you put on it.

  • I was a member of one of the teams in this video and a team member of mine is a USMC MCMAP instructor. This is not "tag" this is speed, accuracy, and technique. Do not think just because these fighters are not fighting full contact that they cant.

  • wow, they all suck. i agree with everyone who gave a reason why it sucked haha

  • well you are wrong

  • @karatevideoguy good comeback

  • @mfoody same lolol

  • I always hated these type of tournaments. I use to do them a lot, until I realized I'm more of a full contact type fighter.

  • i think TKD is certainly got more contact than this shit sparring... not to be rude it looks like they playing tag!

  • They are playing tag that is what point sparring is. Who can score first.

  • its not tag, its not who can touch the other one, it should be who in a real fight would have ended the other if he had not stopped short.watch an 0:08 you think running at someone with your arm outstretched is going to incapacitate someone?

  • no this is not real life it point karate. Please understand this and realize it is not real fighting and it does not claim to be, you just need something to put down to make yourself feel more important.

  • the JKA created point sparring as a test of skill for a real fight, that is point sparring, because this claims to be karate and it claims to be point sparring it is held to the same scrutiny. if it is no more than a game of tag, then it should be called "tag US open" because karate is a martial art.

  • all the queer bastards here that say, oh karate is shit.....go on you join a club, then go to a big tournament, you'll get knocked out

  • @karatevideoguy

it claims to be karate, thats what's pissing everyone off.

  • i havent seen one point that would be scored in any martial arts competition apart from this one

  • Your glasses are on the other table hehehe

  • This is tournament sparring. Thats why it looks like they are playing tag. Tournament sparring is a completely different aspect of karate than learning self-defense. This is the sport part of it. A lot of the puches look sloppy bcuz everything is going so fast and adrenaline is running. Whether they look bad or not i wouldnt talk shit.

  • Why diesn't anyone seem to block the jab kick. Block and punch to the head. The punches are hellas sloppy. In TKD they'd get the shit knocked out of their stomach.

  • I agree, these fighters are quite pathetic, no style at all, its as if all of the karate techniques are forgotten in one instance and they just start swinging. See when they attack, they open themselves instantly. My sensei taught us the hard way, if you open yourself in an attack, you had to fight against him, trust me you learn quickly

  • wtf is a jab kick

  • its where your oponent grabs your leg puts you on the ground and finishes you

  • they are playing tag...

  • Hasnt anyone heard of leg sweeps or arent they allowed?

  • omg these guys suck so bad it makes me happy inside :P

and its like world championships, the kicks that they like replay a million times look good, but look at how much impact they had, like shit all,

  • and this is what they are teaching most kids when you send them to karate school. It's more business than self-defense. It's a recipe for getting your ass kicked on the streets.

  • Man this is TKD not KARATE!! No sensible Sensei would allow his Karateka to wear those kinds of cloths. Just a plain white Gi or a Black and White Gi. Hopping around on one foot with your groin exposed is a recipe for peanut butter balls. Obviously no groin kicks are allowed in this Tourny. And those punches are pathetic. For real Karate look up Koshiki. Cause this is sad.

  • I completely agree. for another really good karate tournament look up robertos sparring.

    this is weak meat.

  • Are u saying that a TKD instructor would allow such blashpemous clothing? Cuz mine certainly wouldn't

  • It looks more like ITF TKD for me, rather than karate. In Karate u don't see that many kicks.

  • It is point sparring which is a sport of tag. The one who hits first gets the point. It does not have to be a strong shot just land.

  • yes, and that's a lame excuse for lack of power and techniques. They should be powerful. I wouldn't call this a martial arts tournament but a McDojos tournaments. Go study at a good club boy, 'cos if your skills are like this you need a lot of improvement

  • itf but sloppy and slow...

  • why the fuck can't these people keep the front fist up in front of there faces! btw love the bits where u rewind and play look kwl

  • i don't believe on chest protectors and face shields. it doesn't prepare you for impact. i mean cmon if some one hits u on the street and u have never had the full experience people wimp out also if a martial artist is any good then they will learn how to dodge and block.

  • It is for insurance reasons. Too many little kids getting bloody noses and trying to sue the promoters. Plus it is a great boost for equipment sales.

  • first off, little kid should not go to tournaments, they can get hurt anyway. Besides that's commercialism and has nothing to do with MA. I think you have been told lots of craps by your instructors. As I said before, go train in a real school, don't waste anymore time.

  • you should go to the 2007 Pan american International in Miami Nov 9 and 10. Show these McDojo's how it is suppose to be done.

  • and you too should go to ITF Honduras 2007 panamerican and show us ur skills

  • Not a bad idea thank you. see you in Miami first. Just stop by the Black and Blue video booth.

  • er.. miami is in november, honduras is in octuber

  • When in Oct? I am on the road allot in Oct.

  • from the 9th to the 15th

  • Sorry I will be in Minn. for the Diamond Nationals during that time maybe next year.

  • BTW, ITF don't hit they just throw up those TKD wild kicks right and the only punches, and I use the term punches very loosely, to the chest in a sort punching like a little girl fashion and there are no head shots allowed. Is that right?

  • no, thats wtf... for a good example of itf do search for Katya Solovey or Lukasz Jurkowsky

  • And karate is meant more to be a sport rather than a way of defending yourself on the street

  • FORM AND GAURDS NEED TO BE BETTER

  • nice vid

  • Half you people are idots. This is just point fighting. There is a full contact karate. You can watch those cips on youtube if you want. Look up Andy he is one of the best Karate fighters. Watch Muay Thai clips an excellent fighting style. Nice clips for a tourney.

  • Do not criticize the Martial art. It is the man that makes the art not the art that makes the man.

Karate itself is good. It is low-experienced karate-kas that pull down the name of the martial art.

  • so do you...

  • Lame.

  • The editting in this is so annoying it's terrible.

  • It's harder than it looks.

  • And you know this because that is what divison you compete in. These competitors train very hard for these tournaments. It may not be self defense but they are martial artists and to compete takes skills.

  • This is open tournament point fighting you moron

  • Best of "Fighting" is misleading at best.

This is why I've grown to hate point sparring/martial tag.

  • LOL "martial tag" that's such a good way of putting it...

  • ooou they suckkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!

  • You need to try out with them. Have you done it with them. Good luck

  • ??? whhhat??? thay are amateurs! its not even real full contact.its not realistic. if you want to see what im doing try searching "itay gil" and find out what the big boys are doing!

  • lol raymond daniels, jack felton, jason bourelly, all of those guys are knocking out more experience kick boxers....haha the kick boxers cant hang with the point fighters...or amateurs like you say...show some respect man if you dont know what you talking about

  • i know what im talking about not like some people around here.even a middle class boxer could knock the best of them down, not talking about "sanda" fighters

i train in :sanda, boxing, russian sambo, and anithing that can give me an adge on other fighters so i have some idea on what a real fight looks like.

  • well you dont sound like a fighter because fighters should have respect for each other...MMA guys are blinded by that shit..all I see is a bunch of fighters with no technique only depending on power and laying on top of each other...by the way I box too and i enter this tournements and i know this guys arent just point fighters...by the way the best of them are knocking proffesional kick boxers out

  • anyway this is the kids division you are watching but by the way Joey Greenland knocked out a proffesional MMA fighter in the battle of atlanta and it wasnt a point fight!...so dont hate...point fighting it's just a sport but that doesnt mean this guys dont know how to fight...

  • i have respect for thes guys, but i cant imagin them having different tactics form what they did there from my point of view a fighter is a fighter and not a dancer and if they suck there i cant imagin them in a street fight with 15 guys with knifes and rocks ive been there and got out alive with some side scratches and bruises so ive got some field experience

  • ok bruce lee...i have being jumped too but not by 15 guys more then 3 for sure but not that many but i didnt take any punishment either...i actually kept them away with my side kick..i live in california by the way...of course i have street experience too

  • I think the video was a good representation of the youth competitors, and people should consider before making some comments that this is not MMA,UFC,or even at the actual "amateur" level of fighting as far as contact goes. However, the video itself would have been better if shorter and better quality. "T"

  • LMAO. Thats supposed to be the US world championships. This is pathetic. I don't know whats worse the ppl in silk gi's or the ppl in full face sheilds and chest protectors.

  • In NASKA all youth competitors are required to wear face sheilds and chest protectors. The silk gis are wushu or kung fu styles.

  • 10 mintinue video of disaster.
