  • So many great songs go unheard anymore. So our children have become deprived of a great source to with which they cannot draw.

No wonder they text. It's the best songs they know.

How sad and such a waste of life to not know there full minds potential only to die as nothing in the end..

  • In 79 with my new born baby I was listening to the movy, and I came addict of hit

please be patient and listen to almost all this musick for discovering something spécial Yes

  • Beautiful song... very beautiful.

    Giggio, from Brazil

  • When I first heard this song in the 70's, I always thought and still to this day that had Karen Carpenter (The Carpenters) sang this song, it would have been a top 10 hit as it suited her voice and style and everything they touched then became a hit.

  • I've seen in strange young eyes, familiar tears --

(when i first saw this movie , long long ago, almost everyone I knew really liked it!

A twist on a classic thriller plot, some pretty memorable dialogue and acting,

and the music... (six distinct styles, the lyrics hold it together as a story... still holds up, for me - I quotes lines from the movie once in a while... I still know the lyrics to every song (even "The Hell of It")...)

in time, we kiss hello - - -

  • unforgottable, astonishing, super, wonderfull, extremely beautifull

  • Still a wonderful song after all these years... a highlight of the movie. Thank you.

  • This song I first heard it in the movie "The Phantom of Paradise" and never heard it again till today 05/30/11 and for some weird reason I remembered it today, We looked and found it, its such a mystical sad song that it got stuck in my subconscious and maybe cause I dream of PARADISE...........

  • To the love of my life. I miss you but I am happy that you found a happiness I couldn't give you. You are my heart and always will be. We sang this song together and in my heart we always will.

  • Beautifully haunting song...I could hear it over and over forever!

  • Her voice sounds a little bit like Karren Carpenters, .. though better matterial for sure .

  • I saw this movie back when it was released and I still love it.

  • Wunderschön.

  • wow great !!!!!!!!!!

  • Seems like a better musical period to grow up to. I'm 17 and hate modern pop. So I'm checking out what you old folks listened too :)

This seems to have been quite a popular soundtrack

  • @nintendokings actually i feel like its a bit underrated. :P

  • @nintendokings old folks!old folks!sonny in my day we treated old folks with alittle respect.old folks sheesh..

  • @nintendokings You have a lot of great music to listen to- It will take a lifetime, because the more you like music, the more music you like- Dante Bontempo.

  • thanks i love this song since i was 17 and i still remember it so well.

  • like many others, I saw this movie on tv when i was a kid,and the great music haunted me forever. I found the dvd on ebay and bought it right away. love it

  • One late, late night while I was wandering around Walmart, I began digging through the 5 dollar movie bin, I was bent over waist deep in copies of Jaw 2 and Kindergarden Cop and way at the bottom I found a copy of this amazing film....I literally screamed like a school girl...needless to say I snatched this and Jaws 2 up to take home....

  • the death of a time

  • Beautiful

    love love love

  • I had to wait to wipe the tears away before posting a big thank you! I fell in love with Paul and the soundtrack to this movie when I saw it in the theaters when it first came out and still love both all these many years later.

  • @slywlf54 Aww thats really sweet. I admit I get all sentimental when I hear really good music as well. Maybe thats why I've never gone for the really heavy stuff or rap or hip hop. Too abased.

  • So beautiful & soulful, it really touches the heart.

  • was fortunate enough to see this film in theatres and drive ins when it first came out & it is one of my favorites of all time...this song is magical, and the film far underated.

paul williams is too, the entire soundtrack is pretty amazing.

  • This is an amazing song. Just lsiten to the lyrics and how deep they punch into your soul. this would also make a perfect song at a funeral.

  • 1 person hates beautiful music

  • one of my mother's favorite songs. didn't know I would find it here. wow. I didn't know how much I liked this song.

  • My dad showed me this film when I was REALLY little, like 5 or something and one thing that stuck out for me was this song! Loved it when I first heard it and still do! good movie too!

  • WHERE'S MY GIRLFRIEND FROM WAY BACK THEN...THE BACK SEAT OF MY 65 GTO- WHAT A PLAYGROUND.

  • i was raised in a god fearing household and the whole idea of selling your soul to the devil was powerful for a 7yrold.my cousin would put two 45's to his face and would scare the heck outta me...lol.

  • I remember seeing this movie on "Cablevision", a forerunner to cable t.v. We saw the same movies over and over for a month. My brother and I memorized every line of dialogue/songs on this movie, and I still know them all!

  • La meilleur de l'album pr moi ;)

  • The one disliker is a new soul

  • I am always recommending this song to lks. I think I'll coverit. Thank you for posting this soundtrack

  • Perfect song for Karen Carpenter.

  • @gdog78749

Yeah but could she have rocked it like Harper in the film (her dancing).

  • This song has meant more to me than any other song!

  • that's the catch isn't it? "...with empty arms, we must still believe."

  • @SacMyk yes it is, theres a girl from years past... who is a woman today, every time our paths cross we know.

  • For those who were there this song remains a classic

  • I was 12 when this came out...oh the memories

  • Gods this movie will never get old for me...I recently got it on DVD and watched it during a Phantom marathon me and my friends were having. I love Jessica Harper's voice and Paul Williams' music is just class <3 That and Finley's Phantom is possibly one of the most adorable yet horrifying Phantoms ever! I loved it!!!

  • This song was important to me in my youth (i.e when the film first came out).

My boyfriend (of 20 years) committed suicide July 22nd 2009. This song was the one I had played at his wake.

It was special to me, before he died. It has so much more power now.

    K

  • @odaxbi How thoughtful of you to play this song in memory of your bo'- I'm sure the tears were flowing that day... I still have to think of my old flame that has never extinguished.

  • thankyou so very much for this...i am in love with it

  • best song ever !!!! totally 70's

  • Lordy, how I love Jessica Harper's voice! She and Paul Williams need to get together and do an album!

  • I just adore Phantom of the Paradise...I'm "young" in age but this movie touches my heart in a way no other movie of "my" generation" has done. Jessica Harper has an alto's voice of an angel! Thank you for uploading all the songs from this awesome movie!

  • i acccidently found this song lol

  • WHY DIDN'T I KNOW THIS SHOW UNTIL NOW? WHY IS PHANTOM OF THE OPERA MORE FAMOUS THEN THIS! great stuffs

  • What a flick. My family still doesn't understand how I like all these songs rock!

  • Wow, it's been a long long time. Really old soulful song. Wonder what became of Jessica Harper?

  • @TheYlangYlang Jessica Harper did 2or 3 more movies then married Thomas Rothman

Chief Executive Officer of Fox Filmed Entertainment

  • @artrail I appreciate this bit of trivia. Thanks.

  • @TheYlangYlang I Saw her in Shock Treatment a failed attempt at a sequel to Rocky Horror Picture Show

& Love and Death ( with woody Allen )

The rest I had to look up Phantom of Paradise 1974, Love and Death 75, Stardust Memories 80, Shock Treatment 81, Pennies from Heaven 81, My Favorite Year 82, Mr. Wonderful 93, Boys 96, Minority Report 02, Blue Iguana, Interscope, Safe, Suspiria, Inserts??

But I Know She was married to Thomas Rothman

  • @artrail Thank you Artrail.

  • @artrail shock treatment wasn't a "failed sequel". it was neither a prequel or a sequel, just simply a movie within the rocky universe. it's an extremely underrated movie because of its connection with rocky. if more people gave it a chance without expecting it to be another rocky horror they'd find that it's quite good.

  • @starsonmywindow i totally agree with you. if you take shock treatment as a completely separate film to rocky horror it still makes perfect sense (despite its many plotholes lol) and is a very catchy and enjoyable movie. i bought the 3 disc box set on my 15th birthday and on first viewing didn't know if i liked it but the more i watched the more i loved it. and jessica harper has a beautiful, husky voice...i could listen to it all day

  • I saw this one very early New Years morning on WABC when I was a teenager, and the music haunts me still...Thanks for sharing!!!!

  • my husband & I were both teenagers when we saw this film, we watched it over and over since we love this song too much... it''s been a part of both our lives.. thanks so much for posting!

  • Reincarnation and meeting old lovers again!

  • Fab song !

I too have had it in my head for years!

We need to get Paul to publish it or tell us where we can get the sheet music.

  • yup, karen carpenter would have been cool also.

  • I love this film all of its music, growing up in El Salvador, I must've seen this film at least 10 times, I bought the dvd and still watch it once in a while but the soundtrack is a masterpiece. I need to get it. great music.

  • Where can you get the soundtrack?

  • You can try Amazon(dot)com, or ebay.

  • @LyndaHudson

Thank you, I can't believe I over looked that! Thanks for responding!

  • @TwilightAdicct

at a record store or on the internet

  • wouldn't a remake of this movie bring back good old memories ??

please people make this possible , just do not change the music !!! El Salvador loves paul williams !!!

  • @DanseRusse1 Why would you ever want a remake!? The original is perfect! It should just be remastered and given a really nice blu-ray release, or even a theatrical rerelease!

    I'm just sick of remakes.

  • Loved this movie since the day it came out. This song....just captured the relationship I'm in now, and for the rest of my life.....just quoted some lyrics that are so fitting to us. Have the album cover framed on my wall....much under-rated film.

  • a great movie...pore winslow

  • My lover of 23 years suicided on July 23rd 2009 - this song was my eulogy to him.

The words ring true, for us, and for many other people out there.

    Karl

  • I am so sorry......the words ring true for all who listen.

  • God, I can only imagine. Love to you.

  • Anyone know where to purchase the sheet music?

  • I would have loved for Karen Carpenter to have tackled this one!

  • @1truebloodlove: Actually Karen did record some of Paul Williams compositions. 'Rainy Days and Mondays' was one of them.

  • This love survives the ages, this song will last for as long as I live for I am also lost in it's wonder and splendor...

  • I can't believe after all these years this song still has me trapped!. I love it and always will...

  • Saw the movie as a teenager. I'm nearly 50 now, and this song has never left me.

    Thanks for posting.

I was playing pool and Linda asked if I'd seen her boyfriend. Our eyes locked and she went into a fixed trance as I felt her look into my soul.I dropped my pool que and kissed her and we've been happily together for 30 years.
