Great work, only advise I can add is not to go back and forth with your file. It dulls the file every time you pull it back. Forward strokes only! Cut's down file time in half.
I was told that using a metal backer (anvil ) you can actually flatten the metal causing there to be too much material and that a softer backer should be used like wood? obviously you know what you're doing, I'm not questioning that, is wood better or worse as a backer are there times where its a better option.
Don't be fooled into thinking you're going to get these results the first time you do it.
You can screw it up worse and then no one will touch it.
Practice on some scrap to see if this is for you.
Better to send all your trim out to one of these guys and have it come back polished and ready to put back on. There are some NOS trim still being sold through places like GMpartsDirect etc.
Great info/vid. That's a flat piece of steel, what about if you have a curves in it?. i have a 1967 galaxie and it has small gravel dents in the front hood trim. do you still use the flat spot on the anvil to hammer?. thanks

This is an art that takes many years to perfect.

Use that part number in the installation manual.

You'll need to roll it slightly as you tap it. Or work it out over a curved piece metal/anvil.
