thats the good thing about these reissues. the finish is made of the same stuff that it was made of way back when so it rly isnt as durable as a new finish. i have a 2007 1958 custom shop reissue and ive already got finish comming off on the body where my arm goes and the back of the neck has faded quite a bit.

You know, i love a good les paul, just magic guitars, but why oh why do you take a beautiful piece of wood, turn it into a beautiful instrument, then cover it up with an horrendous,ugly large chunk of cheap plastic ?

Yeah, i know, it looks a very nice guitar though- wish it were mine plastic and all. I have one of the les paul standard faded Gibsons which came with an unfitted pick guard, which i think is a good idea as you then have the choice for yourself. I suppose anyone not liking pick guards can remove them, but then your left with a screw hole in the side. They should pack them as an optional extra as with mine. Anyway, enjoy.

It's too new and shiny to look like a real '59, but thanks!!! Yes, it's the historic series that came from the custom shop.

I'm waiting for my LP replica, and that one should look like an original '59 burst. Will post a video when I get it.
