great video...very revealing...people who live in society tend to think that something is ok only when the mass does the same, and treat things that are not so common as disease or abnormal, how can u define normal?? its ever changing with time and trend. something may abnormal in an age but normal in another age.. something nt normal is not necessarily bad, its just that the system is dumb & unprepared to understand or face it.

@RUSSKAYAG I believe you are a very passive aggressive person. You may fool others but I see you for what you really are. A person full of judgment and hatred.
It blows my mind that so many people think those who are autistic are retarded (I hate that word). I know a handful of autistic people personally and THEY ARE NOT RETARDED. They are perfectionists, they have the memory of an elephant, they are incredibly life-loving people who enjoy their days. To have hate for autistic people just because they rock when they are stressed makes you retarded. Period.
@1qaz6yhn5tgb Stephen Hawking cannot support himself. Is he mentally retarded? How about Franklin Roosevelt, was he mentally retarded? Both these individuals were/are unable to support themselves alone. Is Stevie Wonder retarded? He also cannot support himself without help. Ray Charles too. Is he retarded?

@danielkirk1 The whole concept of psychiatry was developed well before 1900 in Germany to get rid of people complaining. The first use of directed energy weapons can be recognized in psychiatric literature from 1908. You find it in chapter Psychiatrie-->Klinik der Narkolepsie on my homepage. During the NAZI time this concept was given up as Germany just murdered oponents. It was relaunched directly after the war to persecute and silence concentration camp survivors.
Honestly, I don't like this video. I'm on the autistic spectrum myself and think it is unhealthy to indulge such repetitive behaviours. These things can be controlled if you try. I don't flap any more, when I get tense I do what you refer to as normal, I refer as more subtle (except for people who constantly click pens, that's just irritating). There's nothing wrong with trying not to be so overtly stressed when under pressure. It can disrupt other people and is rather selfish.
It is very sad to see how some people perceive autism. Fortunately, there are still a lot of understanding and loving people around us :) Being known as austistic in dental school, there are ppl who ignore or tease me (and I would suggest that you dont see these future dentists), and there are people who support and love me :) while there are hate comments, plz remember they're "mean" ppl who simply hates the whole world. And that we are loved by many others behind, supporting us quietly.
Autism has nothing to do with immunisation. Anti-immunisation people love to relate immunisation to every single disorders. Just like anti-fluoride people love to relate fluoride to cancer and psychological disorder while fluoride already naturally exist in our body. Immunisation is simply, dead bacteria or virus that elicit primart immue response in our body.
Bill Gates is cold-blooded? I do not think so. Bill gates has contribute a huge amount of his income to charities and not every rich people do that. That is totally not cold blooded.
Some people are just ignorant, and there is no point in arguing with them, coz they'll never get it, and will never admit that they're ignorant.
Thank you Christ for putting up this video, I've never thought about my repetitive behaviours that way, it makes me feel much better
@melbibear Bill Gates has plenty of money to give. As a business man he was quite ruthless, broke a lot of laws, ruined a lot of people, pushed a lot of crappy products.
@wlwdimlp For some reason the comments are not working correctly. Anyway, children have been vaccinated at birth since 1929 making it impossible to judge if an individual is showing signs of autism before being vaccinated. Furthermore, there are tons of modern medical studies linking specific squalene and mercury-based adjuvants to autism and numerous other neurological disorders like Guille-Barre, Epilepsy, Paralysis, and also to many auto-immune disorders as well.
Why is the word normal in parenthesis? I'm "normal" so I'm not as enlightened as a fucking rocking retard? I can get on the subway and people don't cringe when I sit next to them? Oh. I get it. To be 'normal' I have to act like a fucking retard. Retarded is the new normal.
Normal is quotationed because no one knows really what normal is. If you look through the hundreds of comments, you'll find some object to being called normal. I "rock" and I have a PhD in economics. I don't ride the subway because I own a car, so I'm glad you won't be sitting next to me because you're unhinged.
@lid107 your a fucked up person for calling them retarded they people too im a senior in high school and i work with autistic kids and they are the most nicest and caring people ever all they need is love and for you to call them retards is stupid because i know alot of autistic kids that are super smart so shut the fuck up and have a nice day :)
Think of the underlying law of nature. The way of all things.
Consider its astounding inferences and implications.
The single, underlying law ... of nature! Not merely of physics, chemistry, psychology, biology, etc., but of all fields of inquiry combined! The law we can all relate to, identify, understand and apply.
Ask yourself. What is the underlying law of nature?
Delight in the question. Have fun in the process of finding the answer firsthand for yourself.
Christschool, you should know that Bill Gates is a Eugenicist and a prominent one at that. Gates is definitely not the type to look up to in any way; he's very cold blooded.
Also,it would be wise to abandon your notion of a right-left political paradigm, as it is a falsehood specifically designed to control those unenlightened yet politically active individuals. Those who invented and implemented this paradigm are the same one's who have caused Autism through vaccination; people like Bill Gates
I agree that neither political spectrum (left / right) is any better when it comes to being enlightened with developmental disabilies to treat people with dignity.
Vaccination does not cause Autism. Signs of Autism can show before any vaccinating and have no proven links. You can't blame things on something just because you don't understand it.
@wlwdimlp When a child is born they are immediately vaccinated, often before the mother even gets to hold the baby. I do not believe that is a sufficient duration of time that would allow an individual to observe any signs of Autism. The number of vaccinations occurring at all ages has increased in recent years and, to be honest with you, it is really beginning to show as it is destroying modern health via a whole host of disorders. If you would like proof, just research modern medical studies.
@ACRrussell ...of course people will always create theories without proof and people will always believe them. Each to there own. But the illnesses like small pox were illuminated by immunisation, which prevented whole cities being wiped out. A few people do have bad reactions to them, like with anything, but it's very few and millions of life's are saved. I personally think research and scientific testing is more trust worthy that peoples theories.
@ACRrussell My partner actually has studied medical science and immunology and knows a lot about the way vaccinations work. I have read most of what she as studied. There is no proof that immunisation causes any of the things you have listed. Skeptical people have written about them causing an array of problems, some of which are simply biologically impossible. There have been vaccines in the past that were not tested properly but that's going back decades ago when things were very different....
I've seen other vids & documentaries about Einstein during which it struck me strongly that he had to have been autistic. His contributions and works alone nearly convince me, without need to hear of his behavioral traits here, that he was autistic. Just envisioning something like relativity, let alone writing it and being fundamentally correct, lies far beyond the range and grasp of any neurotypicals that I've ever come across. Likewise the atomic bomb, I'm fairly sure... politics aside.
u dont watch movies, lol. when someone is REALLY stressed, they go off the wall and have to go through with ppl saying they are crazy. my dad simply got pissed at sumthing and it was missinterpreted as him skitting.... he had to go to anger management. so what ur saying sounds like a personal problem cuase it is very biased and critisizing. when a mental person is stressed u scare those around u since u dont respond and get worse... thats all. everyone gets misunderstood!
I'm 'normal,' but I show I'm stressed out when I bite my nails or twirl my hair, so I can't talk about rocking or flapping because I express stress in my own ways.
@josecitoperecito : This video isn't meant to say "what" autism is nor is the music meant to represent every autistic person or their experience. It is but one interpretation. You are free to upload any interpretation you like and attach any song you like to it. I'm not sure what I'm suppose to do if you don't like my personal interpretation.
Why don't you give them some zeolite to get rid of the mercury poison in their body. Solutions are out their but its really up to you. There are no free meals in this life, if you depend on people or government to take care of you then you will be very dissapointed. God bless.
PLEASE put a warning on your video. I am inredibly light sensitive and after less than a minute of the video I began getting physically ill due to all of the light changes and trying to force my eyes to read the writing.
i both rock and flap. yet im what people call 'normal'. (i hate that word. it's what i like to call just being another stick in the fence.) but the rocking and flapping is from living my entire life with an autistic brother.
I'm not autistic but I can understand the rocking motion. :) I really like things like swings it calms me down a lot.
Unfortunately the rocking back and forth can be seen as such a 'un-normal' thing, when I've seen 'regular' people do it when they're upset (often when people cry hard). But screw anyone who doesn't understand, they probably click their pens or tap fingers all the time!
I'm autistic and I do a lot of repetitive bahaviors too and I do it to relieve stress or to calm myself down. I have a high functioning autism and I guess asperger's syndrome too.
Excellent video! All my life Ive struggled in so many normal situations. Over the last 5 or 6 years Ive begun to consider the possibility of undiagnosed Aspergers. Coming to this conclusion wraps up so many loose ends for me. Where to go from here is the next big challenge! Thanks for this video! ;)
its funny atchully, listening to this song and listening to david bowie, his lyrics do relate to what autistic people sufer from,i got a old vinal with some lyrics on it by him that sing about being difrent and doing obsesive things and getting bullied for it.
Since these behaviors are caused by stress, what can be done to relieve the stress? I take med for stressful feelings, can't autistic children and adults too?
Bill Gates is able to articulate as he is doing what we would diagnose as OCD, but it is just a label to give someone. Autism is also a label. These labels are given as a logical means for those who are so called "qualified" for a course of treatment. I too, have been upset about institutionalization and adding insult to injury by drugging and restraining Autistic children and adults.
Please check out a great Children's book about Autism, PDD and ADHD called 'Why Is He Different?' (Please spread the word about this unique book, tell your friends and tell me what you think about it. Big thanks!!). You can preview it on youtube profile called Monalisaknew. Just copy and paste the following sentence in youtube search window: 'Why Is He Different? (Autism Book)'
You can also buy this book on AthsePublishing(dot)com. Thank You !!
It seems you don't understand the use of inverted commas. Who can be considered "normal", where are the "norms" written down? Who can say who is normal and who isn't? I think you agree with me, the point is you don't understand what I mean
Well sweetie I don't give a frakin hell about the ins and outs of a antiquated set of rules from a broken language so nope I am proud to say I haven't a foggiest what the hell inverter commas are.
You should not be so presumptuous to think you know me, as if you knew me you would realize that that it not me being rude that is me typing when agitated. When agitated I drop all formalities and courtesies so that I may go straight to the point so I can move onto other tasks that demand my attention. Now if you don't mind i don't have time to debate whether or not I was rude to you, so please just let the topic die and have a good night.
A lot of these repetitive behaviors such as rocking or flapping can be subdued or reversed by ABA therapy, the earlier ABA therapy starts for autistic children the better. In fact there is a great new ABA site out there thats been getting a lot of attention. It's called rethink autism. Doesn't hurt to check it out. Good luck!
Why don't you show understanding, being made to change because people don't like you hurts, and it always causes a great deal of stress which robs you of enjoyment in life. Trust me I know I have been alive for 20 years and for as long as I can remember people have been trying to change me because they don't like how I deal with stress, and it is very insulting and often more stressful than the original stress. So please think about what you would feel like if someone tried to change you.
I agree with you. The Autistic children and teenagers I've communicated with or in other words, who choose when to communicate with me are each someone I'm supposed to accept, and I feel strongly about that. I will not change someone to suit MY world. I will, however, do what I can to make their lives better.
My youngest daughter is currently undergoing diagnosis for autism (at the moment she is looking to be borderline), and the more I read up on autism the more I am convinced that autism spectrum runs into the neurotypical population under the category "nerd". (both my wife and I are a little bit nerdy)
There are a couple of larger scale repetitive motions that are common in "normal" people that you missed out on. Pacing and leg jiggling.
But I think I draw more paralells with the Bipolar spectrum.
Moodshifts and lack of visible empathy inparticular.
Also, I believe that the socially normal mind is not the same as the biologically normal mind, and often people confuse the two. Because people don't pay attention.
I rock and flap under pressure too. I'm not autistic, but I have been diagnosed with social anciety disorder.. and there are a bunch of things in autism I can relate to; fear of eye contact or physical contact, rocking, reading without understanding, etc. We're not that different after all.
good video. It's weird watching a low-level tic like Gates' rocking in time compression. I thought people are supposed to mimic their peer's nonverbal cues?
I agree it's exceedingly odd that some behaviors are ok to exhibit and pass along, but not others...
Quotes around a word is a metaphor for irony, it doesn't mean alien or objectionable. In this video the quotes are meant to explain that there is no such thing as normal. Normal is relative and everyone is an individual and thus why we should treat autistics as individuals and not box them/us into a stereotype.
that is the most heartless thing i've ever heard in my life. how do you live with yourself? it's like saying people with down syndrome are faking it and people that're paralyzed can actually walk. how do you sleep at night?
You most definitely have a right to your beliefs. Just know that some things are not true even though we believe them. Autism is very real. So is the chord that this subject appears to have struck within you. Consider looking at that.
Rocking calms me down. "Normal" people should try it! Maybe there would be less crime in the world if more people rocked. And if somebody's uncomfortable seeing it, look at something else, lol!
I agree with u 100% .. I squeeze and release my hands repetitively , they are my hands, how does that offend anyone? I faithfully live by this formula
I constantly reduce the number of people whose opinion i value, by adding the list of people that can kiss my lips... LOL
LOOOL!!! The guy rocking in his chair towards the end of the video looks like he's jacking off under the table!!! Then the guy rocking in the chair at the end of the video looks like he's making love on top of the chair !
If they showed a longer clip of the Dude pressing the thumb button over & over again the so called "stress" repetition would have came unravelled,, because anyone who hits the self-medicating-morphine button over & over again like that guy was not going to feel stressed very much longer,,,lmao
Ha. I was teased in school for keeping my arms crossed all day and my knees haven't stopped. Could this behaviour simply be related to athetlic individuals or ADD? I had lots of energy, didn't like sitting down. I still do repititve movements because I hate waiting for something. Also I've heard b4 that exercising keeps us energized, so maybe repititive movement is done while sitting down to keep our minds active? Or atleast to assist us?? I mean, after 50 min or so my mind slows down.
You are right. My husband and brother-in-law both sit and bounce their foot when watching a movie or having a conversation, it can go on for hours and they don't even realise it. My mother sits and strokes her one hand with the other, over and over again to the point where I often tell her to stop as it gets a bit irritating. Now I understand, we all have our oddities!
Thank you so much for this video. I have a 4yr old son that has been diagnosed as being Autistic. He has been placed at the lower end of the spectrum and at times will flap. It bothers me when I tell some people hes autistic they start to treat him like he mentally handicapped. When hes speaks a small amount of Spanish, French and signs. He also has known his ABC's and able to pick out random letter as well as count to 30 since he was 3yrs of age.
People feel as though just cause he has some differences in his behavior that hes mentally challenged. I hope many see this video and stop making assumptions about things they dont know about.
people hate others who are different sometimes. instead of walking the "normal" way i like to "dance". i dont dance at school b/c i know all teachers are retarded failures in life who dont understand that its nothing negative, just different.
My son has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. I designed Awareness Cards to hand out to others whether in public or to classmates. They have been invaluable!
Our son's Speech and Language Therapy is no longer covered under our Medical Insurance so the money that I make from my sales goes to paying for his Therapy.
Search Mom 2 Four Printing and Gifts.
Best wishes to all the families that love someone with Autism!!
if your son is resisting to therapy so much maybe u should try to make the best of his autism? look on the bright side? bill gates has autism. ppl who are rich and successful are never normal b/c they dont think like veryone else that is how got were they are
My son isn't resisting therapy... he is working his little butt off to try and improve his speech so that he can be understood by his peers and to also improve his social skills.
We have made the best of his struggles... he has inspired all that know him. As his mom, I owe it to him to do everything I can to improve his chances of a successful future. By designing and selling these cards and paying for therapy, I am doing what I can to help him. Doesns't he (and every child)deserve this?
Exactly, they are often not overly concerned with what everyone thinks about them. They are not weak in that way and don't feel pressured to play superficial mental games with people. Of course, some of them are probably incapable of doing so even if they wanted to because they have a tendency to be more "real', sometimes to a fault. We live in a world of plastic people and political correctness and most autistics simply are not concerned with this and don't even understand or recognize it.
Yes some Universities do have people who have Asperger's Syndrome- like myself- but it is not an extreme form of autism. It is a mild form of autism. I think you proberbly meant to say that, but I am just wanting to correct that so that nobody who reads your post gets confused. :)
because it's a subjective judgment with no basis in fact?
how we deal with people who are different is only dictated by culture. people medicated or institutionalized today could have been shamans in precolumbian america, artists, "holy fools" in eastern orthodox nations (read about st. Xenia of st. petersburg) - what makes you think it needs to be "fixed"? autustic people are worse than the rest of us at somethings. at others they're a hell of a lot better. maybe we're the ones "disabled"?
No.... being disabled is not a fate worse than death, while the handicap-stigmatism does make people feel miserable.
Autism has its benefits and its disabilities, but more importantly it needs to be respected because it's deeply rooted in who a person is, it's not for no reason they call it a pervasive condition.
Humans biggest advantage in evolution is diversity, the perfectionism ideal is something we got from the monkeys and would only work in a very primitive society.
A nice comment below. i didnt read all that was writern in this vid as it was moving to fast for me to read but god bless all people who are conected with Autism in any way.
As a parent of a child living with Autism, I've found that we are truly blessed because there are families who experiencing greater challenges that us. Autism is nothing to be ashamed of, it should be viewed only as those individuals who have not reached their developmental milestones as of yet. God bless all the families who are experiencing this disorder...I've grown to accept Autism for the sake of my 9 yr old son and I love the fact that I'm able to share in his daily struggles.
My friend is autustic, and hes a good friend, I noticed every time he would do something it would be followed by a pat on his leg, i didnt know that was part of his condition until now
This video seems to assume that "normal" people feel superior to people with autisms since it doesnt reffer to "normal" people as non-autistic, it reffers to them with a bias word of "normal" (who says whats normal?)This is a completely bias video because autistic people arent ALWAYS abused and arent ALWAYS institutioned and they arent ALWAYS viewed as inferior by "NORMAL" people. It is extremely innappropriate to assume that anyone without autism is too closeminded too consider these things
I don't rock myself all the time (only when I am in a bad mood and when I am stressed)
I am criticized for flapping my hands and my family is quite abusive when I do this.
It just makes me do it more because of the stress I get not knowing what I am doing wrong. Flapping hands is normal. NTs do it all the time (they call it "air guitar")
Sometimes I catch myself mildly rocking back and forth, but I'm not nervous. If I'm focused enough on one part of my mind, the other parts go on autopilot, i.e. the cortices for my unused senses will cycle while waiting for my frontal cortex to get back to them. My auditory cortex sometimes loops the chorus to a song. My motor cortex tends to fidget (drum, tap). I might make funny noises in a combined auditory/motor fidget (hum, whistle, pop) -- whatever keeps the circuits warm. I'm annoying.
I'd rather have gifted intelligence than social awareness. Normal people make bad decisions in life because they are emotionally controlled. A majority of autistic people may not be socially developed, but when it comes to academic achievement, you'd be surprised to know that we are very successful.
Universaties are full of people with Asberger's. an extreme form of a utism. But is we shoot people up on IL-2 and Il-4, we cure their social problems, but they keep their tecnical skills! So why not have both?
Wasn't Asperger's a not so extreme form of autism? I thought it was generally more "mild" (of course, it has partially different symptoms so the comparison might not be entirely valid) than other autism spectrum disorders... I could be wrong though.
If a loved one was in the hospital and you were in the waiting room waiting to find out if that person would survive the injury, would you have an easy time not fidgeting, tapping, rocking, or flapping?

Immunisation is simply, dead bacteria or virus that elicit primart immue response in our body.

funny how people respond to this video.

Google it, as a start.

ACRrussell 1 year ago
I agree that neither political spectrum (left / right) is any better when it comes to being enlightened with developmental disabilies to treat people with dignity.

Vaccination does not cause Autism. Signs of Autism can show before any vaccinating and have no proven links. You can't blame things on something just because you don't understand it.

@wlwdimlp Maybe not in and of itself, but it sure helps.
bluecollarcanuck 1 year ago
@wlwdimlp When a child is born they are immediately vaccinated, often before the mother even gets to hold the baby. I do not believe that is a sufficient duration of time that would allow an individual to observe any signs of Autism. The number of vaccinations occurring at all ages has increased in recent years and, to be honest with you, it is really beginning to show as it is destroying modern health via a whole host of disorders. If you would like proof, just research modern medical studies.
ACRrussell 1 year ago
@ACRrussell ...of course people will always create theories without proof and people will always believe them. Each to there own. But the illnesses like small pox were illuminated by immunisation, which prevented whole cities being wiped out. A few people do have bad reactions to them, like with anything, but it's very few and millions of life's are saved. I personally think research and scientific testing is more trust worthy that peoples theories.

I think the word "normal" is well-used because it's used between inverted commas.
MsMarcethebest 2 years ago
I disagree because normal is just a label the majority labels onto something, it is not something that can stand the test of time.
blackstarzero 2 years ago
It seems you don't understand the use of inverted commas. Who can be considered "normal", where are the "norms" written down? Who can say who is normal and who isn't? I think you agree with me, the point is you don't understand what I mean
MsMarcethebest 2 years ago
Well sweetie I don't give a frakin hell about the ins and outs of a antiquated set of rules from a broken language so nope I am proud to say I haven't a foggiest what the hell inverter commas are.

So please think about what you would feel like if someone tried to change you.
blackstarzero 2 years ago
I agree with you. The Autistic children and teenagers I've communicated with or in other words, who choose when to communicate with me are each someone I'm supposed to accept, and I feel strongly about that. I will not change someone to suit MY world. I will, however, do what I can to make their lives better.

Excellent video.
Pacing and leg jiggling.

knightablaze 2 years ago
Why is putting "normal" in quotes offensive to you?
christschool 2 years ago
Because it assumes normal is an alien or objectionable concept. It implies an undercurrent or connotation that I don't believe exists.
knightablaze 2 years ago
Quotes around a word is a metaphor for irony, it doesn't mean alien or objectionable. In this video the quotes are meant to explain that there is no such thing as normal. Normal is relative and everyone is an individual and thus why we should treat autistics as individuals and not box them/us into a stereotype.

In 1989 thousands in Canada and the USA were poisoned. Hundreds died, thousands permanently chronically injured
A pill sold in health food stores, L-tryptophan, was to blame
Genetically engineered bacteria make tryptophan then are crushed. We extract tryptophan from the toxic soup
Bacterial endotoxins, legally allowed in products made this way, did the damage
Antigens in vaccines are made the same way and similar toxins, with mercury, could cause autoimmune problems and autism

Autism is a DISABILITY that needs to BE FIXED. Why won't people accept that?
12Antoniobu 3 years ago
because it's a subjective judgment with no basis in fact?
how we deal with people who are different is only dictated by culture. people medicated or institutionalized today could have been shamans in precolumbian america, artists, "holy fools" in eastern orthodox nations (read about st. Xenia of st. petersburg) - what makes you think it needs to be "fixed"? autustic people are worse than the rest of us at somethings. at others they're a hell of a lot better. maybe we're the ones "disabled"?

Gl4d2B 3 years ago
No.... being disabled is not a fate worse than death, while the handicap-stigmatism does make people feel miserable.

Azucarada911 3 years ago
Isn't typical/atypical MUCH less biased than normal/abnormal?
Let's look at it like this:
Green eye colour is normal, blue is abnormal.
Black skin is abnormal, white is normal(if you live in eu/us)
Homosexuality is abnormal, heterosexuality is normal.
Isn't typical/atypical a MUCH better therm? The only ones that would be offensive to that would be normie-supremacists?

Bill Gates has Asbergers: Related to autism.

Perhaps we should respect Bill's privacy. He has made it clear he does not want to be an advocate. His wishes should be respected.

I am just rying to tell you how to fix autism. You don't loose gifts, you gain social awarness.

Asbergers is a milder form of autism, that goes with great technical scills. I am suer we can fix autisdm now!

See the difference is I can stop tapping a pencil or fidgeting with my hands. If I can do that, why can't someone that's autistic?

If a loved one was in the hospital and you were in the waiting room waiting to find out if that person would survive the injury, would you have an easy time not fidgeting, tapping, rocking, or flapping?
