I loved Xigbar's characterization in this, because this scene and the fact that he sent Demyx to fight Sora tell you that he's in charge of at least one of the neophytes' activities. It really gives you some insight into the Organization, as well as the likelihood that Xigbar enjoys tormenting Demyx.

By what i said earlier, the thrones are NOT in height acording to strength.

Also, if they were acording to rank, then Saix would have the second highest throne as he is second-in-command. He does not.

Zexion would also have one of the highest as he was the mastermind of reverse rebirth, superior of the underground members, the fact that he can talk down upon Xigbar in that scene, and also Xemnas placing him in charge of Vexen and Lexaeus to weed out the traitors. He is like 4th in command

The position of the chairs siginifies the number that member occupies in the Organization (ex, Xemnas is #1 and Roxas is #13) and the height of the chairs signifies that member's strength. So naturally, Xemnas, Saix, Xigbar and Marluxia have the tallest ones.

dont listen to blutz456, the HEIGHT siginfies the power, where the chairs are PLACED signifies their number aka at what time they joined the Organization. Maluxia, Larxene and Roxas (11, 12 and 13) were the latest to join, so they have those numbers, but Marluxia is one of the strongest so hes one of the highest. The lowest chairs (weakest on the Organization) belong to Roxas, Demyx and Vexen.

Hehehe. I'm not sure there's any rhythm to their chairs, except that Xemnas has the highest chair. But if you look at their physical build (expecially in the shoulder regions) you can tell who they are. For example, Xaldin has HUGE shoulders.
