The Easy Cast begins with the sinker laid on the beach under the rod. With the South African cast, the sinker is on the beach but extended away from the rod tip. Done properly, the fishing pendulum cast is perfectly safe. The flat-arc tournament pendulum styles are another matter, and definitely not recommended for the beach.

I use this cast a lot, from my back gatden i can hit the fish and chip shop at the end of my road

Nice place to practise casting
-I did it in my local park, but got so much abuse from my own, and threatened, by that I mean
young English teenagers
-hope those fields are not overrun by the trash we are breeding now
-i am white and English
-good cast

i am from the USA. last week i went to an empty field to practice casting.
minutes later a cop showed up and asked what i was doing.
told him "practicing casting."
he shook his head, smiled and left.
evidently, the wench living across the field called the police to report "a mentally disturbed person is fishing on dry land with a long rod!"
true story.
i wish people would mind their own business sometimes.
