  • I loved Lord of the Rings!!!

  • I recently enjoyed the dwarves series by markus heitz...

  • Im a big fan of A Song of Ice and Fire and The Wheel of Time.

  • Mofasa died...

  • May I suggest Amulet by Nancy Lee Parish? Her book was released on November 11 so you haven't had a chance to read it before making this video... but I can say that so far it's received three 5 star reviews, and is very easy to read as she actually has many of the same gripes about some works that you seem to...

  • warbreaker from sanderson is free and its one of my favorite magic systems

  • If you like Sci fi and fantasy can I suggest Terry Pratchett? :)

  • I just ordered Elantris. Looking forward to read it.

  • you're forgetting way of kings! some say it's his best book.

  • @13mordeth catching up on the series here, fan of yours but definitely also a fan of Tolkien. I'm going to try checking out the Mistborn series and see how it is. Cheers

  • Thats why I never finished LOTR...way too much detail

  • Yo m13, just wanted to say thanks. Found Elantris at the library and remembered this vid. Read a few chapters and it's awesome. So thanks!

  • Greetings mordeth. If you do see this then id just 1ike to put across how much ive enjoyed your v1ogs these 1ast years.

    now onto more important things..

Check our Brandons Storm1ight Archive seires. 1 book in two parts so far and it is phenomena1. A1so.. aware of A11oy of 1aw? ;) 4th book in the Mistborn.. OUT NEXT WEEK! that is a11.

(apo1ogies for the 1 standing in for a certain character. damned wine)

  • where are you?

  • It's probably been mentioned already but I'll say it anyway: If you like fantasy books you should check out Neil Gaiman if you haven't already. I really enjoy his stuff. Also, abebooks.com is a better book-buying website than the one you linked to.

  • i see that site you posted has the Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Weeks. GET IT!!! Fantastic series.

  • David Eddings is a great fantasy writer as well, imo.

  • You bash LotR for being long winded and then praise WoT in the same breath lol. Robert Jordan takes a chapter to describe a pair of pants.

  • What kind of tablet is that? (please don't say ipad)

  • how tiny is your camera? i noticed it's inside your helmet.. how is it possible?

  • I like the way you say my name; Brandon... Mmmm

  • Mordeth. Read The Stand by Stepehen King. One of the best books I've ever read. Some of the best character development i've read in a book

  • fantasy books are gay

  • I honestly felt that Robert Jordan got way more long winded towards the middle of his series than LoTR ever got. (Still like both)

  • haha so funny

  • You should try reading "The Painted Man" by Peter V. Brett, it's a great book.

  • I know that you've gotten fifty recommendations for novels already, but I would HIGHLY recommend the Three Worlds Cycle by Ian Irvine, containing two quartets, a trilogy and a new book that will be written in the next few years (from memory, don't quote me on that).

He's an Australian author and in my opinion one of the best authors I have ever read. The suspense at the end of the first book, A Shadow on the Glass, for example, is just perfect to me.

  • Almost 4,200 views in 1 day !!! FUCKKK !!!

    I can make 41 in 1 month!!

  • LOTR isnt for everyone i suppose. It is overly long, and overly descriptive, not to mention badly structured and badly paced in places. All those faults are sort of what makes it great though.

If you want something completely different i highly recommend Joe Abercrombie's The First Law series, three books with amazing and unforgettable characters. I mean pretty much all the characters, not just one of them.

  • You might want to check out The Warded Man by Peter V. Brett.

  • Fuck yes R A Salvatore is one of my favorite writers, the dark elf trilogy is amazing

  • I couldn't finish Return of the King. After they've gone through Mordor and destroy the ring near the end of the book there's about 100+ more pages of all this stuff that's been happening back home in the Shire and it just goes on and on, I thought the book was supposed to be finished by now.

  • why do you stop talking when you get on the gas

  • OH GOD MY ATTENTION SPAN. WHAT ARE THE BOOKS

  • Are you back in Taiwan?

  • Best advice I can give is don't read a fantasy series unless it's already finished. Waiting for the next book in a series sucks...

  • You forgot Raymond Fiest! His 23ish books are wicked fantasy!

  • wow, u need some new inspiration, ur new vids are boring me. hopefully u come up with some fresh new ideas that will keep my attention. go to comic con or something

  • Mistborn, was good for the first book, but the second was pure crap. he dragged the story on, huge sections where seriously nothing happens and the ending was just shit. it turned me off from reading the third book. And i really liked the first book. This is all just my opinion, dont go all batshit crazy people.

  • WANNA RACE BIATCH =DD i have yamha dt 50cc r XD

  • Books? You mean the thing that comes in the case with the game.

  • Try the inheritance series. Eragon is book 1. Author: Christopher Paolini

  • Lord of the Rings blows nuggets. It doesn't work as a novel at all. It would've been much better had he written it as a history. Also if he didn't have a hard on for dumbfuck hobbits it would've helped. It's famous and well liked because it provided the foundation of the modern fantasy novel, doesn't mean it's good though.

  • Dude!!! Thank you for that rant on Tolkien books. I tried reading the Hobbit years ago and it's like pages and pages of what Bilbo Baggins looks like and is wearing, blah blah blah. I also understand that he wrote those books for his son who was in war at the time and for some reason they became literary classics, but seriously I don't need to get beat in the head with the description of a little man with hairy feet. I'm kinda off fantasy books, but glad to see someone else has the same gripe

  • I can't believe you bashed LOTR...........all the other series suck compared to it.

  • Wait, so you back home now? Or you still in Canada and this is an old vid? Because I remember you saying your HDD was back home?

  • the wheel of time books were ficking epic, no joke. makes lord of the rings look like childs play.

  • margret wise&tracy hickman (may be spelt wrong) wrote some dragonlance books the HUGE series is great but the first book is AMAZING

  • Anyone watched this video because it's by M13, but couldn't care less about the subject he's talking about?

  • Comment removed

  • FIAT Punto in taiwan? nice LOL

  • i miss JD

  • Glad to see you again :)

  • You just explained exactly why i dont read books. The over description in most books does my head in. Just get on with the bloody story! lol.

  • This is the first video that i got bored with.

  • Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson = epic and FUNNY :D

  • Anyone else get the weird movie trailer for demonic possession? Yeah that was a weird trip befor watching this...

  • Dont ever leave us again!

  • A Song of Ice and Fire is an awesome series! I read it after you talked about it in an older video, definitely gonna look up these books!

  • you need to stabilize your videos, it can be done in software, my head hurts after just watching this vid :D

  • How about a rant video?? i love em!!

  • Thanks for the book recomdations

  • 0:48, nice parking.

  • 1:14 backwards jacket FTW!!

  • for some reason i like the vietnam or (wherever) videos better

  • I'll watch it when it's a film :)

  • yaay new vid)

  • meh not your best vid

  • Haha, your such a bookworm!

  • I bought the mistborn series based on the reccomendation you gave in a previous video and I have to say, you were absolutely right. Sanderson is an amazing writer and I plan on going on to read Elantris soon.

  • @filish0 He has a 4th book to the MIstborn trilogy that just came out. It takes place 500 years after the original series.

  • @13mordeth Thanks for the information, I would never of heard about it. Will definetely check it out.

  • @filish0 The Graphic Audio version of Elantris will be VERY good if Elantris is as good as you say it is. Any GraphicAudio book is a hit! try it out if u ever reread/ listen

  • @HoboKodama I'll remember that, thanks for the suggestion

  • @filish0 same man.. havent read a good book in a while and just ordered all fours he mentioned ;D cool :D

  • @filish0 if you like Sanderson, try out his book The way of kings (1:st of the Stormlight archive) it's truly amazing

  • its been ages since you posted a new vid....man i want an apology for that

  • Nice to Have You Back, Sir :)

  • Your 888th video. That's mega auspicious in Chinese culture.

  • i heard there were floods in taiwan this week, is everything okay mate?

  • Damn I thought you died. Glad to hear you are alive.

  • Should of stuck with LoTRs, it gets much better. I enjoyed the descriptive nature, but once it clears up and gets downto it. There's a reason it's so popular.

  • @bfmv580 I think it was so popular because it was one of the first "epic" series to be good. But since then authors like George RR Martin have created better.

  • @13mordeth It's so great because it pretty much coined the fantasy genre, comparing George RR Martin to Tolkien is like comparing Wittgenstein to Descartes - one would not have even had the tools to conceive of such a world were it not for the former.

  • @omblae exactly!!

  • @13mordeth if you like fantasy books you should try the series by tom lloyd :

    Storm caller

    Twilight herald

    The Grave thief.

    they are amazing.

  • the guy at the end sounds like someone off the sims

  • liked the end teaser..............missed you ron burgundy, missed your musk...of asia .

  • I think you should try the Discworld Series by Terry Pratchett, they are really good and they are what go me into fantasy books

  • I'm actually reading The Eye of the World at the moment and I just finished the Shadar Logoth chapter. There happens to be a character with the same namesake as a certain motorcycle blogger. Is that where it comes from?

  • @phych Correct.

  • u should read '' way of kings'' its awesome takes a while to get anywhere butttt its ss0000 good anything by brandon sanderson is awesome

  • Lord of the Rings is absolute genius. I reckon if you try & read it in a couple of years time and get 1/3 in, you'll be addicted.

  • where have YOU been o-o ...

  • R.A Salvatore !? I'm watching Your channel for a while, I didn't know that You read it. He writes amazing books ! I love The Hunter's Blades Trilogy... but final battle seems to be overcomplicated.

  • just ordered it from ebay....im holding you to this m13 :P

  • PRIVATE SERIES AND BF3 VIDEOS....go

  • I'm gonna give the book a try man, thanks :)

I have a job where I can listen to audio for 3-6 hours per day.

  • i hate lotr, but i also hate harry potter.

  • Your hand movement should have its own youtube channel... Maybe you could have another camera taking video of your hands. :D And put that video in like the corner of the videos from your face in a cool way u know?

  • try bf3 gogo

  • If you dont like LOTR you should check Malazan book of the fallen !!!!

  • i like how m13 responds to his comments you dont see much of that now a days

  • What are these based on, i like futuristic type themes, not orcs and stuff. do you have anything to reccomend for futuristic magic, fighting, rebel, cyborg, crisis type books?

  • @KreatorOfDeath1985 Sanderson's stuff are a world of their own. No dragons or orcs or anything like that.

  • @KreatorOfDeath1985 i would recommend something like The Electric Church by Jeff Somers

  • Isn't Taiwan having crazy floods and what not?

  • @tommyblunt It's Thailand, not Taiwan!

  • @tommyblunt ahahaha silly me

  • I've had people tell me Stephen King's Dark Tower series is good.. can anyone attest to that? I'm not much of a fantasy reader.

  • @amozoness6

Dark Tower is absolutely amazing. Honestly without question or shadow of doubt the best book series I've read. I will warn you that it's long, 7 books, thousands upon thousands of pages, however. I read through the first and second quite quickly, then paused for a month or two, and have blasted through 3, 4, 5, and 6 in the past month or two, and I'm a bit of the way into 7 at the moment. Astounding series of books.

  • OH FUCK I'VE MISSED YOU

  • Hey mordeth just wanna say I just got a 2003 ninja zx6r. Not the best looking one but I liked it so I got it. When I first watched your video like 2 years ago it made want to ride and I finally can I'm so excited!!!!

  • @13Mordeth First off, color me surprised. I had no clue you read fantasy books.

If you haven't already I'd definitely check out Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. Absolutely my favorite book (sequel is just as good). Great fantasy that reads SO easily, the books are HUGE (around 400,000 words each) but they read so quickly and easily you feel like they're nothing.

I think it might have a YA label stuck on it but don't let that throw you off, it's very well written and not at all childish.

  • The way of kings (stormlight archive) by Brandon Sanderson is by far his best work. Hard to believe but it blows his other stuff out of the water and his other stuff is awesome. I've read like 150+ Sci-fi / fantasy books and this one is probably the best book i've read.

  • I just got a ninja 650r and the guy I bought it from said he watches your videos. It was cool to meet a M13 fan in real life!

  • @onteamplanb I'm jealous....I've yet to meet one.

  • @13mordeth If you ever come to South Carolina, USA you can meet one. Not only will you meet one you can stay in his house and ride his bike as well. :)

  • @13mordeth You MADE one. Your son.

  • @13mordeth what about the guy you met on the white motor cycle a while back? or am I confused

  • @13mordeth bullshit , seriously? Maybe ill come over to taiwan and meet you one day... Plan on meeting some of the vloggers from hawaii first :>

  • @13mordeth you met the Asian guy that like to touch himself while watching your vid... at the motorbike convention

  • Good to see you made it to Banff! I love how JD is more interested in the game than the scenery, that's to be expected though. Hope the rest of the trip is going well.

  • i think the best series is the Horus Heresy series, its more a mix of sci fi and fantasy, but so awesome.

  • @nanahc and its written by different authors each time

  • The back of yo' head is ridiculous!

  • If any of you are interested check out Brandon Sandersons website, he has the first few chapters of each book AND he has in the past (Dont know if its still up) but he has given out complete books for download on his website, I think it was the first warbreaker book but not positive... anyways give it a shot

  • @13mordeth

Highly recommend Malazan Books series by steven erikson if you haven't read it yet. Fantastic series, but it is HUGE...about 15 books in total if you get the additional tales

  • i hate it when reading a book and it does one of those long descriptions so I start imagining what it is but then halfway through the description something is said that completely throws me off so then i have to read the description again to make sure i understand and by then i'm thoroughly bored of the book no matter how good it was up till then

  • At the end was that the back of your head?

  • @TechHost M13 shaves his head, but even if he hadnt, the voice sounded different to me.

  • I wrote a book once, I failed English after it.

  • my life was ruined without you and syndicate :(

  • HE'S BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! About god damn time Mordeth. I was wondering why my sub box was so out of place.

  • Thx for tips!,

  • Brandon Sanderson is also finishing the last 2/3 Wheel of Time books

  • @Armada3lite That's how I discovered him. I think he writes better than the late Robert Jordan.

  • @13mordeth

Hmm its interesting you say that because I discovered Wheel of Time though you and now you may have convinced me to start reading Sanderson once I catch up on the latest WoT and SOIF books

  • I like the Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini. This video made me google it, so I just found out that the next book comes out in 8 days!

  • Wheel of Time and SOng of Ice and Fire still spend a lot of time describing clothing but otherwise are awsome

  • I read m13 videos

  • Great to see you posting again, M13. I always enjoy most of your videos :) I'll definitely give those books a try

  • man ive read the Drizzt series like 5 times...all of them =P lol

    awsome read highly recommended

  • @JjBlinks1234 Another AWSOME series that i really think you should read m13. is the Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Weeks. Deff. a series worth taking a look at.

  • @JjBlinks1234 I did read that. And you're right it's very very good. Someone on her recommended it so I bought it.

  • This is his 888th video, nice.

  • Hey that at the end is in Banff! Sweet place.

  • i missed you so much

  • ice and fire, not fire and ice hahahaha

  • @kaorutheimpaler I'm a huge fan of the books and I -still- catch myself saying "Fire and Ice".. I'm just programmed that way for some reason.

  • Thanks for the tip. Always looking for a good read.

  • fuck yeh, reading those books aswell yo

  • Nooooo come back to Kanada!!!

  • Ah its good to see that your back on the ninja.

  • OMGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!! YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS !!!!!!! MY DOUGHNUT IS HEATED!

  • YES! M13 is back!

  • oh god my week sucked without m13...

  • And here's a recommendation for you! The Belgariad series by David Eddings.

  • omg m13 i missed you!!! <3

  • Watched you're videos for awhile and i've never commented but I LOVE R.A. Salvatore! Will check out the other books you mentioned for sure.

  • David Gemmell is a Very good fantasy author

  • back in taiwan ?

  • Kept replaying 1:25 to hear the 650R come alive as you passed the backwards-jacket lady, right before the yellow cab almost hit you.

  • @atk411 lol backwards jacket lady

  • Must have missed something.

  • You're back in taiwan? More VLOGS? Good!

  • @op3l Nah, I doubt it. He would've announced him being back in Taiwan and secondly I think he said he was staying in Canada for a couple weeks so I dont think so. But the Taiwan videos are 10x more interesting <3
