Dr. Hupp had a gun. She knew how to use it, very well. She had a clear shot at the killer for several minutes. She could've taken him down at any time.

If, that is, she had had the gun WITH her.

But she didn't.

It was in the glove compartment of her car, where she had left it because, as a law-abiding citizen, she didn't take it into the Luby's because they had a "No Guns Allowed" sign.

She said that if it weren't for that sign and policy, only the crazed gunman would've died that day.

I disagree with her conclusion.

You see, the gunman went to the Luby's in the FIRST place BECAUSE of that sign, BECAUSE, as crazed as he was, he was still sane enough to realize that such a place would be the only crowded place nearby that he could kill a bunch of people and thus make his insane final statement without being quickly taken down himself.

If it weren't for that sign, we would never even have HEARD of a gun massacre at a Luby's in Killeen. It would've happened somewhere else.

Along those lines, note that the relatively recent rash of premeditated school shooting sprees began on Feb. 2, 1996, in Moses Lake, WA.

Note that date. Prior to that, we might see one such incident per GENERATION. It only took one year for the next one, and then it skyrocketed until only a year later we had multiple such incidents PER DAY, TWICE! Both days in ONE WEEK!

That date was mere MONTHS AFTER then-President Clinton's Gun-Free Schools Act took effect.

So, why, pray tell, do you think that laws of any kind would make them do (or not do) anything they don't (or do) want to do? Especially since guns and ammo both can be easily made from materials that cannot be banned without destroying the economy outright.

The only way to GET RID of guns is to get rid of the knowledge and materials to make them. Destroying the Earth entirely might suffice.

We tried banning alcohol by CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT roughly a century ago. Not only did it NOT work, the black market created led to the establishment of organized crime in the USA, which plagues us to this day even after that Amendment (the ONLY one ever to attempt to REMOVE a Right of the People, and ALSO the only one EVER to be repealed — coincidence?) was repealed, the only way a Constitutional Amendment CAN be — by another Amendment.

Prohibition doesn't work. Period.

Take the TOP FIVE mass murders (by body count) on U.S. soil in ALL of U.S. history, INCLUDING the worst-ever SCHOOL massacre (whose body count alone equaled the COMBINED total of Columbine AND Virginia Tech!), and add up ALL of the bullets fired at ANY living things in ALL of them.

Calculate the GRAND TOTAL of bullets aimed at ANY living thing in ALL FIVE of the Top Five mass murders on U.S. soil in U.S. history.

COMBINED.

Answer? ZERO! NONE! ZIP! NADA! ZILCH!

This is more than a Second Amendment issue this is a human rights issue, It is you living right to protect you self form anything or anybody trying to harm you and your family. Because of the cosmetics of those so called assault weapons people were buying them during the ban. My brother and step father went out and bought one each for the reason I thought, They didn't want someone telling them they can't have those firearms. Think before you vote in November.
