Us Kiwi's, if we were in France and we're asked if we spoke French.... We're bound to say something like... "No I'm from New Zealand mate", even though we probably had a Conversation in French that we memorized from a book.
Everyone who says "omg... I speak excellent French because I took a class when I was 14 and this song's lyrics are TOTALLY wrong" didn't get the joke. They somehow even managed to miss the bit where she asked him if he spoke French and he said no.
My French isn't great at all, but I did a little research. As far as I can tell there's no actual translation. Foux is crazy, insane or fool (depending on who or what I asked).
Fafa doesn't seem to be a French word, but some have offered ideas.
1) relating to the muscial key of F so "Fools in the key of F". Is this song in F? But then why repeat it?
2) French slang for laughs or fun, apparently? This doesn't sit quite right with me for some reason.
@deehooks Bonjour! What part of France are you from? Maybe it's slang in a different part? I know the slang in the north of England is not the same as the slang in the south. Can't find anything that confirms it but slang is like that, I suppose.
The actual title of the song is "Foux Du Fafa" Foux is definitely crazy or insane. Fa respresents a musical note so I think most likely it's a crazy in F (the musical note) but with a little nonsense thrown in.
@AdamDangerFox Bonjour à vous ! I live right in the center of France. In my opinion, it's definitely not slang. But your explanation make sense about "Crazy in F". Except there's no "X" in the word "Fou".
I'm sure that their intention was to sound like french, not to make a real french song.
It doesn't sound like "mon petit poire au dijon", rather "mon petit bureau de change" at 1:06! would make more sense in the whole "i only know stereotypical french words" context!
I think the "foo doo fa fa" is some kind of joke against french way of speaking. It is so good to make fun of the things girls like in french way of life :)
My name is Kiki, and i was raped before i died. I use to enjoy pain and now i inflict it upon people. I was tortured and raped untill i could no longer breathe. Those meanies now suffer and die, and those who do not repost this to 5 videos will die too. i hate this 2 but i believe
At the strike of 12AM, those who did not repost this will die a horrible death after seeing a bloody face covered with long black hair. Those who repost this will receieve a kiss from their crush
I love this song so much me and my friend randomly sing it. xD. I can't believe it was used to teach french! xDDD I never got awesome videos in my class.
Thank God I took French: J: would like a croissant; i'm pleased to meet you. Where is the library? Here's my passport. Ah,Gerard Depardieu! Baguette B: Baguette foo fas fas (chorus) B: And now a trip to the supermarket! Grapefruit, Pineapple, orange juice, beef, soup, camembert, Jacques Cousteau(lol), baguette! J: Hi, my little ripe pear. B: How are you? I'm fine. Here's a conversation in the park. Girl: Where's the book? J: At the library Girl: And dance music? J: At the discotheque
Girl: At the discotheque! J: Say you say baby. One, two, one, two, three, four. *chorus* Girl: Where's the pool? J: Pardon? Girl: Where's the pool? J:Uhhhh Girl: splish splash J: Eh, uh? I don't understand. Girl: Do you speak French?...Do you speak French? J: ehhh...no.

The problem with this AMAZING video is that there are grammatical errors... One would never say "parlez-vous LE francais"... The definite article is superfluous. Otherwise, it is gorgeous. (I didn't comment on all of the errors because I love it!!!!!!!!!)
Well thank you for the comment, however these are the subtitles that were put on the DVD by HBO. If it were me that put subtitles on the videos this one would have never made it I dont know any French what so ever.

I'm sorry but iflyalexair is right
There are many grammatical errors:
" Et maintenant le voyage à le supermarché"
- " Et maintenant le voyage AU supermarché"
but this sentence is completely absurd it is a stupid translation from English to french, which has no sense. French people would say " Et maintenant allons faire les courses au supermarché"
@ABlackbirdOnline its probably just easier to click a thumbs down than typing anything, BAGUETTE! i probably point out errors when i comment on music videos, :/

I can confirm you that "Foo doo fa fa" doesn't mean anything in french, even in slang.
I'm french and I love the song too even if it sounds ...weird ! It sounds really like they pretend to speak french but they're not.
