@sweetnitewht I always wanted to find a girl like Watts, in my late 20s now and I've yet to succeed! Still, won't give up :) Love John Hughes films, this is up there with his very best no question
I can totally identify with Watts!!! I'm in love with my best friend and he has no clue about it!!! It was like look at myself in the mirror! I know sound pathetic, but that's exactly how I feel
I love the ending. Pretty much everything from 2:12 to the credits has been memorized by me. What can I say? I'm a fanatic. Best ending ever, to a very accurate, realistic-to-the-point-of-pain-and-occasional-tears, down-to-earth, wonderful film. I know why it's called Some Kind of Wonderful. We all experience some kind of wonderfulness just watching it, seeing the truth in it.
God, I'm sappy. My friends are right. LOL.
Love this ending, love Eric Stoltz, love Mary Stuart Masterson!
@harkovadm There was more dialogue between Keith and Watts at the end in the '86 script. She told him that the earrings were going back so he could go to art school. So that's what they're talking about while walking down the road, I guess. :)
@Bokken2006 They're everywhere. Maybe not with the same classic tomboy cut. Maybe they don't beat drums. Maybe they're hidden, but they're there. Just few and far between.
i looove this! i was just randomly searching for romantic movies and aw man this was too cute! lol i had the same exact situation! best friend love <3
LOL i love the ending he he and at 2:21 Watts backed up like whoa u goanna hit me lol than he just picks her up awwwww just wish he figured it out sooner
"I'm sorry i didnt know"
"Yeah well you were stupid i always knew you were stupid"
"Y didnt u tell me"
"U didnt ask. Haha i wanted these i really wanted 'em"
Ya know....all thru this movie it was painfully obvious that Watts was in love with Keith. Thats True Love for those of you who don't have a clue. Sure many posts throughout the movie were made wondering why Keith was so clueless and couldn't see it. Well, its easy to say when you are a viewer. And there are some that would wonder why Watts didn't just tell Keith she loves him. Its not that simple. If it had been that way then the movie would have no plot.
Thanks so much for posting this awesome movie! This is one of my favorite John Hughes films. I idolized Watts as a teen, now in my late 30s, she was a tom-boy who loved boys. Thanks again. :D
@smithl3 apparently that's why he made his movie. Hughes originally wanted duckie to get the girl but the producers didn't think it would work so then Hughes made this one.
HEY!!!! that last song was redone by UB40 right???? falling in love with you or something HOLY CRAP I HAVE TO FIND THIS VERSION who is the artist?? I want my 80's back, today SUX
rip john hughes best at what he did. that last line = pure elegance. i think they needed to have a stronger climax, there was soo much build up of watt's feelings and a split second for him! it made his side seem...a little too last minute and not as sincere hare to believe he loved her the whole time and the last kiss was...not as great as the first it looked a tad akward, maybe im too picky but thats just how i feel. although in spite of that this movie is still FRIGGIN AWESOME ^^
i can relate to Watts because i feel the exact sameway about someone else and he is my best friend and u wish he knew but u dont wanna ruin the friendship. I probBLY WONT END UP WITH HIM UNLESS HE FIGURES IT OUT HOPEFULLY.
i love this movie because every girl can either relate to watts or amanda....its not a typical move where you like either or their both loveable in their own way
something about this movie wasnt right. seemed jumpy the characters didngt seem concrete...it had its moments but in my opinion not the best 80's movie.
The characters weren't developed enough onscreen to have the movie end like that! I know they'd been friends for forever but where was the chemistry? It was like you wanted Watts to get him but you didn't really know why (probably just rooting for the underdog), then when she did it was like huh ok?
Some movies are just 10's. This is one of them. Being a kid during the 80's was too cool. The world is so different, people don't talk to eachother the way they used to. I wouldn't have wanted to grow up in any era except then or the 50's. Not all eras are equal.
One of the best lines ever! Best ending to a great movie! I'm only 14 but I really love this kind of old teen movies! Wish this generation still has the same!
So how long does it take a guy to figure out what is really good for him. to bad they women fiugrit it out ealry. Also when are women going to find out that not all guys what to go to bed with them. The guys just want to treat them with respect that they really deserve.
I think Denice, Sandra, or whatever her name was (wow- what WAS her name?) took it- I mean, they all live pretty close right? plus, it would be rude to let HER walk all the way home- and it might be a little weird to all drive home together- then again it might be really fun. . .
I noticed this too so I already came up with explanations XD

I have to say this is one of my favorite movies ever..seen it lots of times and everytime I see it brings me to my senses about right or wrong...damn it Watts you lucky girl!!!!!!!!
Hard to believe it was over 20 years ago that I saw this for the first time. Loved it then and its been awesome and very nostalgic seeing it again.......took me right back to 1987. I was 15 then.........lot older now. The 80s were an awesome time to grow up. Great memories. Eric Stoltz is still one of my favourite actors......did I see the girl that played Amanda Jones in 30 Rock on TV? Well, she looks like her at least.
I saw this movie back when it came out (I was still in high school) and I've seen it countless times. Every time I see the scene where Watts is walking down the street all brokenhearted I get teary-eyed. Gets me every single time, even 20+ years later.
I'm so glad he ended up with Watts. I was afraid it was going to be a Duckie and Andie thing again. Nothing broke my heart more than Duckie not getting Andie. lol I feel like I have some sort of closure now. ;)
these are the teen movies i love..you can have your american pie, road trip, ect...i'll take this & the breakfast club & pretty in pink ANY day over the crap new movies.
