  • I love your s12 and really enjoyed the review of the mods...but couldn't help but think it looked a lot like a paintball gun with the trigger and handle setup like that.

  • @scradduck Yeah, it kind of does look like a toy. I suppose it is toy, a very dangerous toy. lol

  • Great Post. Very informative and concise.

  • @jumpintospace Yeah, i almost got one of those things, but I was too impatient so we just grabbed a piece of steel and zapped her up. Its real solid - but its also real permanent :-( The block would be the smarter way to go. PLUS- getting everything ground all square and flat was a real chore. Thanx for the good post.

  • i get the reason for the bolt handle being protruding... but i don't get why its necessary, when the magazine is empty the bolt automatically locks back, throw a new mag in and slide it forward and your ready to go.... no reason to stop, and hold it back

  • @diverseent AK's dont have last shot hold open like AR's do

  • @Titanium181991 were not talking about Ak's were talking about saiga's

  • @diverseent Saiga 12 doesnt have it either, Saiga's are AK variants, now I've seen some saiga .223's that can be modded to have last shot hold open but thats all I've seen. Check out PFIDude here on Youtube, he builds Saiga 12's, He actually has mine right now

  • @Titanium181991 i know because i own one already... mine does it. i bought it off a guy who did some stuff to it im not sure if it did it from the factory or not.

  • @diverseent Yeah I would think all you have to do is mod your magazine so the follower comes out a little more, but doesnt come completly out, But dont take my word it lol

  • @diverseent Howdy. Curious... None of the Saiga 12s I have seen have a bolt hold open feature. Does yours have a bolt hold open? If so, please let me know which model it is, that would be way better for reloads.

    Peace

  • Nice looking camo, friend.

  • This is an impressive video that also manages to remain free from manufacturer specific bias (i.e. only tapco or only ace). Again, this is a well made video.

  • @TiborasaurusRex videos like yours is what inspired me to film a video when i purchased my s12. i hope to soon convert her up nice like yours. i really like the custom paint.

  • @skullface405420 Awsome. If every law abiding American had one of these babies, there would be virtually no more crime and we could reduce our armed forces by 75%. lol

  • Camo is fugly

  • @A7Delgado i like it ! :)

  • I would be curious to see you do a comparison between the wraithmaker and the MD 20 and the promag drum. I know there was a lot of animosity on the saiga12 forum about that. You seem to be pretty straightforward and open about the stuff you like and don't and why.

  • @armaggedonite Honestly, both drums are quite a bit more fussy and have some than are the in-line-magazines. When using the full power combat loads that the weapon was designed for, the reliability dramatically increases. When using our light pratice loads, all the gremilns come out of the woodworks. I like the durabilty of the MD arms drum, but they have such a stiff spring tension that one must be sure to use heavy enough loads in order for the bolt to operate properly.

  • @TiborasaurusRex Thanks. I know many MD sends thier drums wound more tightly than is generally necessary and instructs users to reduce tension if needed.

Have you done a bolt reprofile? That is known to help reduce friction with the top round significantly and therefore improve reliability with weak ammo.

  • @armaggedonite I havn't done a bolt reprofile, but its worth some looking into. I've done a lot of polishing and a hammer-reprofile.

  • @TiborasaurusRex There is a pretty comprehensive guide on the saiga forum. Honestly though, the service pauly's steeling does looks pretty hard to beat. It is supposed to make reloading on a close bolt much easier for all the people who are still rock'n'lock

  • So about that side folder............is there an adaptor to do that with my tapco t6 stock?

  • @TheyxSeexMexTrollin I never had the chance to look into the Tapco T6. The ACE side folder I am using is made for a normal AK-47 so the Saiga has to be reconfigured as shown in vid. ACE may have other options, you'd have to check with them to see exactly what they got. Happy hunting.

  • What did you use for all ur welding?

  • @freeze427 Just an old hobart wire feed welder.

  • Sweet vid, nice job on the s12.

  • Great vid ! My gen 2 loads great , but my md20 don't . I have the md booster piston and md v plug yet have poor results from my

  • YOu should join the saiga 12 forums.

I posted a link here for people to learn more you should get alot more views plus you will help people learn more about the mods and improvemnts.

  • So im going to get the plate for the buttstock. my only question is how did you get the angle 100% so the stock will be streight with the gun. there is a 3% angle on the internal install block that ace makes? your shotgun is awsome...!

  • @v8rx7guy we did some careful grinding checking it every few seconds with a square. A belt sander works OK if you go slow and keep checking it.

  • So im going to get the plate for the buttstock. my only question is how did you get the angle 100% so the stock will be streight with the gun. there is a 3% angle on the internal install block that ace makes?

  • Hey they also make a auto plug as well that seems to work really good for alot of people on the saiga forums. The only problem with them is they advise not shooting 3 inch but most peoples mags and drums only shoot 2 3/4 anyways. I really like everything you have done to this rifle. I have had a big problem with my BHO and have had it suck up into the gun twice now so i removed it until someone finds a better way to make it more relaible. Im looking into that steel weld in kit for the stock

  • @v8rx7guy Right on, thanks man. 2 3/4 works good for most purposes.

  • Hey.. Just wondering I found 2 types of Bolt handles...but I like yours a bit more did you custom build your Galil bolt handle and did you have to drill it? I really would like to have this addition but fear it reduces the value of the gun. If I were ever to sell it..which is doubtful? If you didn't build it ...where did you get it?

  • @Jeepacreepah01 - Thanks. We used a lathe to build the handel from scratch. We left a large circle of metal at its base and then milled the bottom square and welded that edge straight to the bolt - the 'weld on kits' weld halfway on to the old handel - not as solid. Only drilling was done on the lathe to hollow out the top of the bolt handel to lighten it up. I don't think it would reduce the value if it was done well. It should up the value I would think. Its a great addition for sure.

  • @TiborasaurusRex - A lot of work (well for me) I did every upgrade for my gun minus that bolt handle and "bolt hold open" I don't want BHO, I do want the handle so I'll look into it. Being that I'm a lefty I like that I can reach over the gun with the Galil handle a little easier. "a 30 min video" about the same gun I have.Ya I subbed & Hey do you have an upgraded "gas switch?" I know they have the 2 factory setting and there is the "3" but I own the 5 from Carolina shooter, good or no?

  • @Jeepacreepah01 My gas system is original - NOT mofified. I almost got the 5 position gas system so I could use light loads, but I just polished up the internal reciever rails where the bolt carrier slides instead. That made it real "slick" and as you can see in my 3 day shoot vids, it runs like a champ. Maybe I'll do a vid on just polishing the bolt and rails.

I would get the 5 postion gas system if I ever had any hickups with light loads again. That would be a great upgrade.

    Peace

  • Gave ya a shout out on my last video in the descriptions. Love your stuff.

  • very nice! i've been wanting a shotgun and yours made me salivate :)

i like bullpup (i'm a lefty) although i'm old school so still m16 fan since i can make it FA easily and i'm a fan of light rounds. I also like 7mm -less red flags.

    -Gospeed!

  • @MightyMessenger777

Well a few things 1. I'm a lefty 2. I own a Saiga So let me inform you, buy a Saiga before someone can inflate the price on you whether they wanna ban them or not. So, This gun is more powerful then the AA-12 as it's capable of holding "30" rounds so far and you can pull the trigger faster then the AA can shoot. Then the bull puppy... a small "pump short" shotgun, yes gotta pump every shot. Saiga .Clip in..Fire Away. In my opinion the Saiga is the most deadly shotgun
