Powell was basically forced to present false information around the world about the alleged WMDs in Iraq by the Bush Administration. Accordingly, Powell has suffered substantial humiliation and embarassment now that we know the information he submitted was false. I'd be mad, too. There are 48 House seats deemed tossup, 36 held by Democrats and 12 by Republicans. Even if the Republicans win all of them, the Democrats still maintain control of the House. In the Senate, there are 6 seats held by Democrats deemed tossup and 5 held by Republicans. Problem is, a lot of the Democrats who oppose health care reform could easily be Republicans, so losing those seats wouldn't mean much as far as ideology goes. We'll be okay in 2010 and 2012.

Drugs only cause crime because they are illegal. Alcohol is addictive and it doesn't cause crime, but it did when it was illegal. Rush may not have set out to get recreationally high, but that's how he ended up- doctor shopping in order to help him aquire the quantity of drugs he wanted. If he was not getting recreationally high, he would have sought help from his addiction from his doctor.

There are 48 House seats deemed tossup, 36 held by Democrats and 12 by Republicans. Even if the Republicans win all of them, the Democrats still maintain control of the House. In the Senate, there are 6 seats held by Democrats deemed tossup and 5 held by Republicans. Problem is, a lot of the Democrats who oppose health care reform could easily be Republicans, so losing those seats wouldn't mean much as far as ideology goes. We'll be okay in 2010 and 2012.

McCain and Powell are centrists, but both believe in a stronger military than the average American or Republican. Powell became a Republican because that was the party making headways when he entered public life, even though he could have easily become a democrat.
He is still probably bitter for being used by W to sell the Iraq War so his endorsement had more to do with getting even than race. Race was just the icing on the cake.

If you tell the Republicans that they have to become more moderate, and then you fail the endorse the moderate candidate of your own party, you are being hypocritical. Obama is NOT a moderate. There is nothing moderate about him. He is pro-abortion, pro-gay, pro-socialist, and pro-government. There is only one logical conclusion one could draw from Powell endorsing Obama. No, Powell, a Republican, endorsed an Democrat, OBama, over a Republican, McCain. In every respect, McCain fit the bill of what Powell said he wanted in a President. OBama has never been a moderate. He has never been bipartisan.
The reason that makes sense is that Powell endorsed OBama because he is black.

The issue was whether Saddam was complying or not. A defense attorney may not believe his client is innocent but has the obligation to fight for his defense.
Likewise, inspectors can believe Saddam had no WMD, but that does not call off their obligation to hold Saddam accountable to transparency. Saddam failed that obligation!

I don't care that Rush did do the drugs, since I don't believe that drugs should be illegal. But Limbaugh's hypocracy in taking drugs (which were illegally aquired) is what is detestable. He is anti-drug and he should practice what we preach, especially if the thing we preach is the act of avoiding doing somthing.

Drugs only cause crime because they are illegal. Alcohol is addictive and it doesn't cause crime, but it did when it was illegal. Rush may not have set out to get recreationally high, but that's how he ended up- doctor shopping in order to help him aquire the quantity of drugs he wanted. If he was not getting recreationally high, he would have sought help from his addiction from his doctor.

As I said a week ago, he tried twice to break his addiction, through rehab centers, but they didn't work (hardly unique in the rehabilitation profession).
Addiction can distort a person's reality to the point where any move is acceptable, if it yeilds more of whatever you're hooked on.
