Much tho I'd like it to, this doesn't show a second appearance by Can on TOTP.

Aside from the Charts intro, this video is identical to the appearance on 26th August 1976, as - basically - it is that appearance. Not 30th September.

It isn't a patch on their earlier work, and yet it's still far better than almost anything else in this particular TOTP context.

Somerset represented twice over in the Top 10 - who'd have imagined it? Shame they're both awful.

@diskochimp of course I didn't. I specifically said that it was better than anything else in that era of TOTP.  I think it was great that they appeared at all. "Pretty Vacant" is far from the Pistols' best, but it was still important and necessary to the extent that it got them on TOTP. As you say, you have to go by the context - the very word I used.
