The National Institute for Medicine estimates that 22,000 people die each year from lack of health care. A study out of Princeton estimates around 45,000. Obviously estimates can vary on what data you use and how the cuts are made, but a lot of Americans die directly because of our failed health care system. You're correct in that almost everyone will say we need reform. But this plan has only 45% support and only 23% of that is strong. 40% stongly oppose and 15% simply oppose. Even a public option though will fall victim to the same scheme because it will still cost more money to buy insurance from the govt than pay the fine annually. Many of us, including me, know people who have died in traffic accidents. Just check the obituaries for the names. The "fact" of 47,000 people dying each year due to "lack of health care" cannot be justified or proven, but is presented as a fact. As I stated, the fictitious number was extrapolated by ASSUMED percentages of risk. The number is being used to justify government health care. So I ask again, how many Americans will die with government health care ? I suppose, none.

The National Institute for Medicine estimates that 22,000 people die each year from lack of health care. A study out of Princeton estimates around 45,000. Obviously estimates can vary on what data you use and how the cuts are made, but a lot of Americans die directly because of our failed health care system. You can debate the exact number, but its a fact.
