Music allows me to see things from different perspectives. Drugs helped a lot back in the day, but they are not necessary to reach different levels of consciousness. It's a risk that had both positive and negative outcomes.
Drugs didn't help enough. Syd would end his days in obscurity living with his mother. Would say drugs in the end really didn't help. Syd was talented. Didn't need the drugs to get to that "level of consciousness". It was always there. Drugs may offer a short cut. But every short cut has a price.
My god, it's pretty good quality sound for a reel to reel and a handheld mic recording the playback of another reel to reel in the room. I would almost KILL to have a transfer of this original tape to a Pro Tools setup with apogee A/D converters and a Big Ben master clock! WTF!!! Do they not know how much money they would make if they released rare Syd tracks in high quality? Does Nick still have this tape? God, I hope someone does, for the sake of Syd's and mankind's posterity!
Most of you are too young to remember how amazing life was in 1967. Psychedelic drugs were new, and experimenting with them was like exploring a new planet as an astronaut for the first time. Ultimately, those same drugs destroyed a lot of people, but we didn't know the dangers then.
Sad having to sift thru all the anti drug crusaders that love to make it real clear where they stand... You all get a big gold star- now go away, why are you here? or at the least can you please keep your fascist opinions to yourselves? chrimne
Yeah, I bet you like Another Brick in the Wall Part 2 and Money. This is what Floyd was all about, the mind bending! This is such a rare glimpse of Syd's majestic brilliance and innovative guitar playing style!
i just can't believe vegetable man was conidered too dark to release.. its a godamn amazing song. lyrics and the batman ripoff tune, damni wish i was in the UFO in 1966-67 :)
I've been waiting a long time to see the full 'vegetable man' video/film in full, does anyone have it? can someone please tell me if that is syd running down the corridor??
No its NOT Syd. That footage was put together for the Ominbus documentary about Syd. The makers were asked where it was from and replied that it was just stock 1960s footage. Sorry to poo poo the idea that it's Syd but it simply isn't him.
I'm not sure who exactly is speaking at the end. I think the chatter during the song is Nick Mason talking while playing the recording for the radio interview.

sounds like Nick and Syd Speaking

This was an amazing song...with a terrible mix. This is how Syd's guitar should have sounded on the final cut.

It sounds like Syd talking, but I can't make it out. Maybe something prophetic.

I heard one line with 'ah this is a solo, go in later' mentioned in it around 35 seconds in, i think hes directing whats happening
1.24 - i like that (rest was too muffled)
1.50 - (muffled) worked up, was just unnaturally (muffles)
2.20 - (sounds like) dont know how to stop, i said whats your problem (muffs)
2.48 - (too muffled)
perhaps if some one can finish up.

Psychedilic drugs make music like this sound important and meaningful. That's not a recommendation for psychedelic drugs, however.

I looked all over for the full vid, but nothing. Best I got was this, from the Syd documentary. I think I'll do a little more digging.
Not really sure if that's him running. Doesn't look like him, but who can tell?
Hammerofthegods32 4 years ago
Yes, It´s Syd running down that hall, you can notice that at the end of the video... a friend have the vid. If I can, I´ll post it.
