  • those older 317 and 318 are real beasts my uncle has a older 317 that can stack up the snow I love john deere put the lawn department are some chinese, mexican made things anymore.

  • Great looking JD 318. They are real beasts especially with the Onans. I had the 4 way plow on mine and it would push nearly as much snow as a pick up truck. The only downside is they use a lot of gas but the thing is such a beat who cares. Just sold mine and all of the attachments to upgrade to a JD 455. Basically the same thing just a little bigger and with a Yanmar diesel that sips fuel. Wish I could have kept them both.

  • Heck Yes. I said in the video that I would never sell it. I did. LOL.

Im sick over it but the good news is......Im doing the same thing you did. Im looking for a JD455. I thought I had found mine, but after driving 3.5 hours...It wasn't at all what the guy said and it didnt even look like the same mower as the pics.

So....Still looking. Thanks for the comments.

  • hey I like your 318 riding mower.Did you restore . paint job looks great and the wheels.

  • @John56deere

Mr. Goff is the man I bought it from. May he rest in peace. He tinkered with this mower all of the time. After he passed, I contacted his daughter and they decided to sell it. I rub on it all of the time. I have ordered a set of aluminum wheels for the mower. CPecs on the back and tractor on the front. I will post another vid when I get them put on.

    thanks for the comments.

  • LOL!

  • When I bought it......I didn't even hear it run. LOL.

  • I think I gave a grand for it years ago.

  • nice deere and i like ur username!

  • gorgeous mower. I always liked the headlights on the 318. I just built a L100 JD with a blown intek single cylinder and put in a briggs 18 hp opposed twin. Got enough power now for a bigger deck if I can find one.

  • Thanks.

I have a number here somewhere, of a guy up in Wisconsin. He has Everything John Deere. I will send it to you via message, if I can find it.

    thanks again.

  • 318's are nice. i have an old deere for you, a much older deere. i have a 1971 JD 112 with a K301 kohler. machine is tougher than a box of nails. all the old deere's are good. the 110, 112, 200 series, 300 series, and 400 series are the best. 200 series made before 1987 and 300 series before 1992. the cheapened them up after that.

  • I agree. 92 till now are no much punkin.

I have bought a p 18 onan long block to replace this engine if she ever goes down, as well as a entire rebuild kit for this one. It keeps going and going. She will smoke a little from time to time, but will clean up and not smoke for months.

I am looking for a 400 series Diesel.

I'd like to see video of your 112.

  • Very nice! JD 318 is the best!

  • Thanks Buddy.

  • Nice tractor! Keep that well maintained my friend, and it will run like a Deere does ever after!

  • Thanks dude.

Oh.... I do keep it in tip top shape.

I also rub on it every day.

My wife gets pissed and thinks I spend more time with the deere than I do her.

    LOL! Oh well.

    She knows I love her.

  • HEHE! : D "And That's How We Like It!" Keep it coming..

  • Thanks. Post a video of your 56.

    I'd like to see it.

    later gator.

  • i have a 322 and its got some balls haha i can push snow with that and it just powers up and push's. we also use it to pull are cars around to if there broke down, alot tourqe in em

  • I truly believe that.

I haven't had very many problems at all out of this one. The onan will have to be gone thru this year though. Shes starting to smoke a little on the starboard side. I use to own a 420 diesel, and regret selling it every day.

    thanks for the post.

    have a great day.

  • Now THAT is a sweet ride! Nice work! Love the dream of you sitting on your porch while your boy does all the work. Just perfect. You must see David Lynch's "The Straight Story" if you haven't already. - Max
