  • The SNES was probably the first ever console that supplied people with a EXTREMELY powerful audio processer, I mean hell it supports FIR filtering, Gaussian filter, samples at 32000 Hz, 8 voices, reverb and echo effects, feedback effects, ADPCM compression, white noise generation, and 64 KB of RAM.

    And even with the 64 KB limit there were still developers that made special techniques to "stream" samples to the SPC at real time, making it possible to have voice acting.
