so, im 16, and have a 3 handicap. But its mostly due to my short game, and approach shots. Im in the 270-275 range off the tee, but i lose balance most times swinging at it, how can i fix that, but keep distance, if you don"t mind saying?

Lag is bascially delayed hitting what you want to do is try to keep that angle you have created in your backswing and don't release the club to early which reduces distance. This motion is called casting.
@1958GIBSONXPLORER Gosh it sounds like you are doing really well. 5.5 is a very respectable handicap at your age, my advice is to kind of forget distance at the moment, that will come, focus focus focus on never letting up and down opportunities pass you by. Remember this saying "Learn to turn 3 into 2" That means never miss a chance to get the ball up and down.
Trust me distance will come Mr Gibson, be patient.....!! Short game short game short game, thats what makes a winner. see vids below
