Enjoyed the Video ! I just bought a Whites MXT.. This is my 1st detector. I am addicted ! It ruined my deer season ! Ha ! I was raised above Vicksburg , Ms. Ive found about 20 bullets so far and some shrapnel . Its enjoyable Identifying all the different Minies Ive dug. 80 % were fired. mostly .57 3 ringers.one .57 enfield. I found two .69s , one was round the other a 3 ringer that had the 3rd ring widdled off. My friend found a Gardner
That button you found looked like it was a Connecticuit button. Anyways I'm jealous! As a fellow relic hunter you got it made in your yard and to live in Virginia. When I was at Chancellorsville last year I could hardly contain myself in a Confed. encampment. I knew I couldn't dig so I had to respect the site. Being from N.Y. you don't find much of anything in artifacts from the Civil War. I love the South, especially Virginia! Watch how you use that shovel!!!
Have you found a plate of any kind in your yard yet??? You know there has to be one laying around there somewhere! With all of those bullets and buttons, you are sure to find something really nice out there...IN YOUR OWN FRONT YARD!!!! Nice video, I'm off to a camp 15 miles away! Best of luck to you!
those cleaners in one hole dont make sense. Williamson cleaners were packaged 1-2 to a package of 10 rounds..seems those were taken out and discarded on purpose? maybe Iam wrong here
May I suggest drawing out your yard in "grid-lines" with crushed white chalk & mark your finds on a paper copy? That way, you can deduce the direction of the projectiles. I've noticed that the old bullets did not have any rifling marks. Thanks for sharing. Will there be more videos?
You mentioned that you tend to find these bullets in clusters. They also seem to be fired. These two facts in combination are interesting. It means that they probably didn't travel for miles before stopping. It means that they were probably aimed and fired deliberately in a volley at a target within a relateively close proximity. This points to either shooting practice or actual combat. You are probably either on the site of a battle or the site of a camp or fort. Do you know which one is true?
thumbs up on video. i found a US plate in my dads little garden.

those tent rings are called "grommets". Your videos are fun...it's cool to live right in Civil War country.

Holy cow man!! GREAT FINDS!!! You're going to get spoiled! :)
The 'smooth' bullets without the rings are likely to be Confederate Enfields...
