He went out strong, still dunkin on people like he did when he was young.I didnt see a old nique like i seen a old jordan.Jordan is the greatest, but we seen a different jordan with the wizards. This guy,if you didnt know how old he was the way he was still moving and dunking, you wouldnt have known he was about to retire.
The guy could hop step, land 8 feet away from the basket and still jump off of 2 legs for a dunk..the guy got higher than centers and power forwards off of two legged jumps(something you don't see often in small forwards)
He should have been named one of the NBA's 50 Greatest Players. Shaq was on that list and he was in the NBA for five years and didnt accomplish jackshit around that time WTF? This man should get the respect that he deserves. One of the greatest players to ever lace em up.
The man was setting NBA records his first week and changing league rules by the end of his rookie year. The next few years was nothing short of complete dominance.
the man had 24pts, 28rebs, 15blocks in one game his 2nd year
you have to admit though Danny Manning was something else when he first came out. But no one really wanted to take a chance w/Nique cuz everyone felt he was done. I felt bad for that cat. Never got a ring - did he end up winning the championship in Greece?
Yeah he won championships in Greece. Atlanta blew it, the year they had the best record in the league they traded him for Manning. Then Atlanta lost in the 2nd round to Indiana because, ironically, they didn't have a go-to scorer.
its nice to know somebody else is smart enough to know that besides me. they really would of had a chance that year but someone in atlanta made the worst decision in franchise history.
There are bad trades and horrible trades. Moving your meal ticket in the midst of a 57-win season with no Bird, Isiah, MJ, or Magic to deal with for a guy who publicly said that he was leaving town the second the season ends is called a FRANCHISE KILLER.
Hawk fans STILL hold a grudge with the folks responsible (Kasten/Babcock/Lenny) to this very day. If anyone has the 'Nique Night' video, you'll see for yourself when we nearly stormed the court when Kasten tried to talk.
Attacked the rim with utter hate and had every intention of taking the player who was bold enough, or stupid enough, to jump with him. Had some classic battles with the greats of that late eighties early 90's era. Truly a stand up guy.
has to be one of the most under rated players in the league. 'nique was definitely one of the most entertaining players to ever lace up a pair of basketball shoes. much respect.
this GREAT PLAYER played for my team.PANATHINAIKOS ATHENS GREECE.i am very proud to watch him playing in oaka athens sports center.thank you dominique.
OK, vintage it sure looks like hes dunking on a lot of guys, and it doesn't look like "garbage time" to me. You just want to discredit Nique because you're a Jordan fan.
NIQUE WAS #1 for me in New Zealand as a 12yr old kid growing up. Brought the BOOM! how the hell does he dunk like that? The old footage still leaves me in awe. Thanks for this.
I myself love what you've done. This guy is one of my heroes growing up. The Hawks were my team. So when Josh Smith put on his Jersey and when 'Nique did the dunk in the 3on3 all-star challenge, I was a little kid again!
The music was a great choice over modern ones, considering the time. Plus the commercial in the beginning, which my bro has on VHS, was perfect.
Nique is one of the greatest players of all time unofficialy. That is one of the true injustices that the top 50 is about.Bill Walton and Shaq at that time should be scratched out for the Human Hilight Film!!
how did it sound like someone was booing? They were cheering. Im from Atlanta and Atlanta people love Nique like people in Chicago love Jordan. They would never boo Nique.
Wow, the retiring evening speech, the preview with the injury comeback, all of this was wow, but you felt you had to screw it up so u got this horrible song with it, right? ;\
How old are you (not a put down - just curious)? Sorry you didn't like the song(s) but they were selected b/c they were hot songs when The Atlanta Air Force was in effect and I loved the tempo of the main song for editing.
Nique had plenty of talent around him, he just never had enough to compete in a very strong East. What's worse is that the one year the Hawks were finally moving into an upper tier team they traded away Dominique before biting it in the playoffs
Wanna compare Kevin McHale to Kevin Willis? Dennis Johnson or Isiah Thomas to Doc Rivers? Kareem to Tree Rollins or Jon Koncak? Vinny Johnson to John Battle? Joe Dumars to Randy Wittman?
Who did nique have on his teams? lets see: Pippen,no; Worhty, Jabbar,no; Parish, McHale, no; Barkley, Malone, no; 5'6" Spud Webb and K.Willis why didn't he win more games? Love the schooly D at the end
Critics always love to throw out the 'but he didn't win anything' card as if he had an All-Star team surrounding him. He carried his team on his back with no help from one of the league's worst front offices while the other stars who won rings had plenty of help.
actually in the 80's and early 90's there were plenty of other good hawks players on the team besides nique, although nique was probably the best. we had a great team compared to now (in the 80s)
I was there for that. We were booing at Stan Kasten, the guy in charge when he was traded. We couldn't help but boo the guy who's negligence is the sole reason why they are soooo bad now. The guy who traded him, Hawks GM Pete Babcock, was away on a 'scouting trip'. A riot would've taken place if he was there.
IMO the 2nd greatest dunker of ALL TIME behind Vince Carter. And you got some awesome rare clips, EP. It's amazing how well he could dunk even in his mid 30's.
Kemp wasn't in the top 50. Nique's name is always the first to come up when talking about people not on the list but who would you take off: Walton, Worthy? Problem is Nique was a spectacular great offensive player but his lack of success on winning teams and his overall bitterness to the league and other players hurt his chances of making the list.
Dude was literally PUNISHED for being a high-flyer. DUDE is NOT a one-trick PONY!!! He had an all around game, just ask Bird and the Celtics.
