I know many people who must drive to get to their place of work, etc. But I also know many, many people who will drive half a mile in 2L cars to pick up the morning paper. Er, Hello !
Supply and demand.
I cylce 14 miles to work and back because I damn well refuse to pay the cost in fuel. If everybody else in the country was like me petrol would be £2.00 a gallon. Because above that, I tell them where they can shove it.
Car sharing is the way to go or if you're the one using your car come up with an agreement that everytime you use your car whoever gets in with you hands over a small amount of cash that is agreed between you.
Spread the message for everyone to Boycott petrol stations every Wednesday (to start with!!) then go from there. It will be a start and they will notice it!!

2011 january. Fuel prices in staffordshire uk are £1.28.9 for unleaded & £1.29.9 for diesel.
I mean .... come f*cking on peopl, we need to BOYCOTT the biggest petrol stations in the uk for this to have any effect.
David cameron, nick clegg, gordon brown, tony blair what ever .... you all make me f*cking sick! All you are bothered about is lining your fat greedy pockets with the uk tax payers money but i'm sorry you are taking the piss now. what about the working class people ? tossers, die scum
funny how all the haulage firms havent blockaded oil refineries by now do you think they may have been backhanded (lol), solidarity, power to the people, what a load of shit seems like a thousand years ago now £1.30 a litre, total greed inflation is running at god knows what and the only thing stayin the same is the wages we"ll soon be a third world country at this rate and i"m an optimist

They make 40 billion pounds a year in duty and VAT tax, theiving robbing bastards!!!
I have just paid £1.11 for a litre how the fuck do they expect you to run your own business and were does this money go?
These idiots already cost me a business, I left the UK to get away from this lot, I invested in Spain, what happened-the recession they and the banks caused has had a catastophic effect on the spanish economy, labour tories libdems, fuck you all!
i think sooner rather than later we all need to take action, im working my arse off here and im spending all my hard earned on fookin fuel! well , that and basterd council tax!
@chunkyboy100 well, everyone voted Labour in 2005 and 2001 and 1997. And Labour means debt, tax and waste. That's what the country chose - although I suppose the elections might have been rigged, it wouldn't surpise me.
@TheZanipolo, its easy to blame labour for our financial crisis but it was part of a global recession. i highly doubt if another party were in government during that period we would have been immune to what was happening worldwide. let me also remind you that it doesn't matter what party is in power, they all borrow money therefore create debt, they all enforce taxation and they all waste money i.e. war.
@bluerosexx1 a yr ago you paid 1.11 a litre this week i paid 1.45 a litre and that was for unleaded diesel was at 1.56 same garage time for protest again
theiving cunts, price of petrol in 2001 was still high at 84p a litre, they been making money from us for years, scumbags hope the guilty die horribly - in a car crash with a full tank of fuel would be justice
It seems to me - I could be wrong ( and am often enough ) - that what sustains the price of fuel at the pumps is demand. How many people in this country drive when they could walk or cycle ? Millions. There`s the answer. I saw a fella come out of his driveway yesterday in a 3 litre Jag ( no it wasn`t John P ) drive 300 yards to pick up a paper and drive back home again. Clearly pump prices are not too high for some !
im 17 and stay in scotland its 119.9 pence a litre and my insurace on direct line on my dads name for a 1.6 cavalier on as a learner is £1000 a year £80 a month for a 17 year old thats a lot of money if the prices rise we are all fu(ked more that 1/2 or the price of petrol is tax we are the highest tax counrty in europ for pertol our goverment are gready bastards
LOL, zupf u right. yea how was the boycott going? even if every1 go to the smaller companies u just gonna make them more powerfull and increase their prices is called supply and demand. i think ur arguement is bias and poor.
You brits are joking right? Your government has taxed petrol since the Major government to help pay down the deficit and discourage driving cars. (Wiki) More than half of the price of a liter of petrol is fuel duty and the Value Added Tax. And that duty is scheduled to increase by 2 pence in October. I laugh at you! BTW, how's your boycott going?
its not government mate its privatised oil companies that control the prices to whatever the fuck they want.. if government could they fkn would bring it down
it's not just some big government plan to leave us with high taxation. We are reliant on oil outside of the UK, barrel prices recently doubling. The country can;t support itself atm, causing us to suffer from this. Food prices will rise, and soon enough our country will be forced into recession.
The government screwed up on something, but it sure as hell isn't petrol taxation.
now all we have to worry about is how we're going to live in 20 years...
Who is really gaining from rising petrol prices? Why high price in the UK? Answer - the government gains. They make most profit from petrol price increases. woh, oh my days, 96 p, your sayin thats expensive, jesus i bet your crying now mate, i surprised you havnt one on a rampage mate, if it was me,and i saw 96p on the bored, i would proberly be one happy fuckin guy!!!!!
I think it might be a good idea to charge private car use at £10 per gallon. And get the vast majority of cars off the roads. There are far, far too many cars on the road these days.
Don`t like the idea of paying so much for fuel ? Then go by public transport, or get a push bike.
Hi roverover7. I was hoping for more responses like yours. Alas they have not come through ! I only meant it as a point of discussion.
But, look, on my way to work I see many driveways with 3 cars in them. It wasn`t like this 25 years ago. Now all are roads are choked up with cars. It is - in my opinion - damaging our quality of life.
I`m not an eco - warrior or anything like that ( at least I don`t consider myself to be one ), but there is a price to pay, don`t you think ?
I appologize for calling you an idiot but this and previous governments have milked Drivers,Smokers and Drinkers to the hilt unfortunately for me at one time l did all three now due to the unsociable effect of smoking l have stopped( No more tax from me).
All of this is done in the name of eco friendly so this must mean that the government are a bunch of PIMPS taking the tax from them anyway.
Hi roverover. Apology accepted pal. I agree with you re. smokers, drinkers, and - particularly - drivers being in effect "fair game," by the Govts. of this country. And I appreciate that some - even many - hard working people cannot do without a car. But I know people who earn the minimum wage and still - even today - have driven 1/4 mile to get to work ! For Heavens` sake : Are we all mad ? Is fuel so "expensive" when "we" can still afford to do this ? It`s bizzare.
@morgandrim your talking nonsense, roads aren't for show, they're meant to be driven on, there aren't enough roads to cater for drivers, thats the problem. in this day and age people need cars to get to places as they're no longer on our doorsteps like they used to be. have you ever used public transport??? if you live in london its great, try living in bromsgrove. i don't drive a car for the fun of it, its reliable and its there when i need it.
I dont know about where you live but BP and Esso are the cheapest garages around. Just look back then 0.99p a liter, cheap compared to the 35% rise now, the most Ive seen it at yesterday June 2nd was £1.35 how silly
this plan simply won't work. The petrol retailers account for less than 8.8% of the total cost per litre of petrol...so even if they started making no money for themselves it would not make much of a difference....it is the government's fuel duty and vat which needs to be reduced to have any impact whatsoever. Government taxes account for 58.7% of the total cost per litre of petrol!
i agree with protest park our cars as much now as possible.i do at least 2 days p/w.and i do no out of town traveling like i used to.the big holidays where a lot of people travel,i wish more if not all would just stay home.just say NO!,to these greedy @#$%%$##$%$##$@#@&Z^ oil companies. we the consumers can make the diff if we all work on it together mad max where are you???
Tax is the majority of the price of fuel - I'd far rather pay profits to a company who gives me fuel than pay taxes that they'll only squander giving to the undeserving/ lazy in this country, to poor african countries and to line their own pockets. Vote to remove this shameful government!
Let them take a bit less for their shareholders and fat cats ie they will still make BILLIONS if they only make 2 pence per litre.
Would you rather pay tax or profits?
Boycott them.
Unfortunately as an employed truck driver, I have no choice where I fill up (fuel card) and the European drivers who fill up their massive drop tanks on the continent at 60 cents a litre (no UK tax paid) are the real problem for us.
If you are an unemployed driver then surely if the UK government matched the same percentage of tax in France there wouldn't be a problem. Oil companies make the same margins there too remember.
For forgot to add.....I was in Boston USA last September and converting from a USA Gallon to UK Gallon (US Gallon is slightly smaller). They were then paying the equivalent of £1.49 per UK Gallon! Remember there are 4.545 Litres to 1 UK Gallon so that is £0.33p per litre!!!!! I am paying £1.30 for Diesel and Petrol is £1.20!
Just got off the phone with a friend of mine who lives near Wrexham in Wales.......and at a garage near him they are selling Diesel at £1.39 A LITRE! That is £6.32 per UK Gallon. THIS HAS GOT TO STOP!!!!
If you take the price of petrol as 107.9p per litre, a whopping great 50.35p is duty & 16.07p VAT, the average retailer makes 8.88p and the actual cost of the petrol is only 32.60p
it's not that Gordon Brown can't do anything about it, it's the fact that he refuses to do anything about it due to his need to keep civil service pensions topped up while he destroys the UK economy tht annoys me - thing is, who pays the taxes when there are no businesses left!
Cant he bring in a sceme were you pay more or less tax on petrol depending on how its used. If its used for certain business that help the UK ecconomy and need to be competative with the rest of the world, why is he clobbering them with huge fuel taxes? cant he give them tax back?
Coca-Cola is 77p-120p a Litre you can't say that fuel, diesel/petrol is not cheap. It has to be found, dug/sucked up, refined, shipped/piped and then distributed to be sold. Do you really think it's that complicated to make coke (the drink)? The main reason we pay so much is because of this countries tax's, not the cost of oil!
Right, so insted of an email whch takes up less than a meg of bandwith at any given moment, YOU made a video which takes up several hundred? fucking brilliance.
The idea is a load of wank as well, most of the cost of petrol is tax, DEATH TO GORDON BROWN!
Actually the government should lower taxes on the fuel. Did you know that in America prior to tax 1 liter of fuel costs 0,44 €. That is about the same as it is in France. Difference is after tax $20% in America it goes to 0,53 €/L. In France it would jump from 0,44 € to 1,32 €, because the government taxes at 200%. That is why the world has differences in fuel prices. In Venezuela it cost about 2,50 € TO FILL a 50 L tank. Venezuelans are only charged for the cost in extracting and refining oil.

after paying £1.11 this week for petrol iv decided enough is enough. im on my bike over this summer il keep the money in my pocket thanks Gordon you fat robbing scottish cunt
when i have the money im off out of this piece of shit country
Just filled my car up... WHAT THE F@@K?! majorly angry. Thinking of putting a chain on the revolving mop of the car wash round the back tonight then tomorrow morning getting one of my old school cars and driving it through the wash just so I can SUE the company for all the damages I can make up. Vehicle damage, stress, injury, loss of earnings, psychological damage, you name it...
I'm not greedy but £1.11 p per litre for fuel is a rip-off. Don't pay it. I run an old Mercedes-Benz E300 diesel 1994. It runs entirely off Rapeseed oil or vegetable oil, no problems half the price. No conversion. No duty to pay if you use less than 2500 litres (check customs website). Carbon Neutral. Drawback slight whiff of fish and chips with veggie oil or mexican tortilla with rapeseed. I love my Benz and i save so much on fuel. I think its economical motoring.
we should do our bit but i believe in value for money and the standard of living in this country does not anywhere near justify how expensive it is to live here!
piss off handsome! i pay 40% tax and pay 17.5% vat on everything i buy and everything i buy is overpriced!
in every pound over 70p is pure tax!
if the government didnt waste billions on illegal wars in the middle east and make it easier to live on the dole than the minimum wage we would be able to lower fuel tax and still pay for everything you have listed!
it helps pay for defence health care schools police fire depts it helps to give pay for those less fortunae like the homless dole money.hell im not rich but we got to do what we got to do
Very good idea, i do not buy petrol from BP or Esso.I have a idea as well dont buy petrol.I know this will be very difficult for most people who really do need there car to get through the day,but im sure there are people like me who can reduce the amount of times they use the car.
it's £1+ a litre and nobody seems bothered, have our brains being zapped with some secret weapon? we moaned last time and had a few blokades and the price came down or stayed in the 90p range, its higher now than it was then..we do nothing..its strange.
A lone voice in a sea of sheep... I know exactly how you feel about this, and I only wish UK citizens would for once wake up and look. I remember when petrol was a mere 70p per litre when I was young... but there is no reason why it should be this high
I know many people who must drive to get to their place of work, etc. But I also know many, many people who will drive half a mile in 2L cars to pick up the morning paper. Er, Hello !

Why did the government encourage everybody to buy diesel engines?
Answer: So they could put the price of diesel above petrol even though the refinery costs are MUCH LOWER!!
Where are the Bio Diesel pumps? 84p a litre hardly any tax to the government?
Answer: You will have a looooong wait to see proper Bio Fuel in any garages owned by the oil companies
OIL COMPANIES IN LEAGUE WITH OUR GOVERNMENT RIP US OFF AND LIE TO US CONSTANTLY.

I think it might be a good idea to charge private car use at £10 per gallon. And get the vast majority of cars off the roads. There are far, far too many cars on the road these days.
Don`t like the idea of paying so much for fuel ? Then go by public transport, or get a push bike.
morgandrim 3 years ago
Get a life you idiot you are talking rubbish.
This is the type of remark that the government would like all the rest of the sheep in England to follow so they can tax us even more.
roverover7 3 years ago
Hi roverover7. I was hoping for more responses like yours. Alas they have not come through ! I only meant it as a point of discussion.
But, look, on my way to work I see many driveways with 3 cars in them. It wasn`t like this 25 years ago. Now all are roads are choked up with cars. It is - in my opinion - damaging our quality of life.
I`m not an eco - warrior or anything like that ( at least I don`t consider myself to be one ), but there is a price to pay, don`t you think ?
morgandrim 3 years ago
I appologize for calling you an idiot but this and previous governments have milked Drivers,Smokers and Drinkers to the hilt unfortunately for me at one time l did all three now due to the unsociable effect of smoking l have stopped( No more tax from me).
All of this is done in the name of eco friendly so this must mean that the government are a bunch of PIMPS taking the tax from them anyway.
roverover7 3 years ago
Hi roverover. Apology accepted pal. I agree with you re. smokers, drinkers, and - particularly - drivers being in effect "fair game," by the Govts. of this country. And I appreciate that some - even many - hard working people cannot do without a car. But I know people who earn the minimum wage and still - even today - have driven 1/4 mile to get to work ! For Heavens` sake : Are we all mad ? Is fuel so "expensive" when "we" can still afford to do this ? It`s bizzare.
morgandrim 3 years ago
@morgandrim your talking nonsense, roads aren't for show, they're meant to be driven on, there aren't enough roads to cater for drivers, thats the problem. in this day and age people need cars to get to places as they're no longer on our doorsteps like they used to be. have you ever used public transport??? if you live in london its great, try living in bromsgrove. i don't drive a car for the fun of it, its reliable and its there when i need it.

Gary2017 3 years ago
I dont know about where you live but BP and Esso are the cheapest garages around. Just look back then 0.99p a liter, cheap compared to the 35% rise now, the most Ive seen it at yesterday June 2nd was £1.35 how silly

this plan simply won't work. The petrol retailers account for less than 8.8% of the total cost per litre of petrol...so even if they started making no money for themselves it would not make much of a difference....it is the government's fuel duty and vat which needs to be reduced to have any impact whatsoever. Government taxes account for 58.7% of the total cost per litre of petrol!

Tax is the majority of the price of fuel - I'd far rather pay profits to a company who gives me fuel than pay taxes that they'll only squander giving to the undeserving/ lazy in this country, to poor african countries and to line their own pockets. Vote to remove this shameful government!
angloengland 3 years ago
So many people blaming the Gov't tax.
THE FUEL COMPANIES MAKE BILLIONS,.
Let them take a bit less for their shareholders and fat cats ie they will still make BILLIONS if they only make 2 pence per litre.
Would you rather pay tax or profits?
Boycott them.
Unfortunately as an employed truck driver, I have no choice where I fill up (fuel card) and the European drivers who fill up their massive drop tanks on the continent at 60 cents a litre (no UK tax paid) are the real problem for us.
mickflyuk 3 years ago
If you are an unemployed driver then surely if the UK government matched the same percentage of tax in France there wouldn't be a problem. Oil companies make the same margins there too remember.

"Unfortunately as an EMPLOYED" truck driver"
That's if you were replying to me.
Do what I'm doing ...leave the country.
mickflyuk 3 years ago
My sincere apologies mate - misread that.
I'd love to - language barrier is a barrier worth conquering if these people are to remain in power.
angloengland 3 years ago
Canada ...no language barrier, but the fuel price is increasing there as well.
mickflyuk 3 years ago
not if those Quebecians get their way ;-)
Good luck to you
angloengland 3 years ago
Thanks, I will avoid that part of the country (beats me how they allow them to speak French there anyway).
Just watched this video again ...ONLY 97 pence a litre then!
mickflyuk 3 years ago
For forgot to add.....I was in Boston USA last September and converting from a USA Gallon to UK Gallon (US Gallon is slightly smaller). They were then paying the equivalent of £1.49 per UK Gallon! Remember there are 4.545 Litres to 1 UK Gallon so that is £0.33p per litre!!!!! I am paying £1.30 for Diesel and Petrol is £1.20!
RitmoNo1 3 years ago
Just got off the phone with a friend of mine who lives near Wrexham in Wales.......and at a garage near him they are selling Diesel at £1.39 A LITRE! That is £6.32 per UK Gallon. THIS HAS GOT TO STOP!!!!
RitmoNo1 3 years ago 2
This is a thought to consider:
If you take the price of petrol as 107.9p per litre, a whopping great 50.35p is duty & 16.07p VAT, the average retailer makes 8.88p and the actual cost of the petrol is only 32.60p
it's not that Gordon Brown can't do anything about it, it's the fact that he refuses to do anything about it due to his need to keep civil service pensions topped up while he destroys the UK economy tht annoys me - thing is, who pays the taxes when there are no businesses left!
idlefinger 3 years ago
Sorry the price per litre is a bit out of date, though the figures are relative - I think you get the drift!

Cant he bring in a sceme were you pay more or less tax on petrol depending on how its used. If its used for certain business that help the UK ecconomy and need to be competative with the rest of the world, why is he clobbering them with huge fuel taxes? cant he give them tax back?

£1.20 litre in scotland glasgow right now i blame tony blair and bush and the oil war sad fookers fuk them
ooh and fuk gordon brown too
ahumanfly1975 3 years ago
Coca-Cola is 77p-120p a Litre you can't say that fuel, diesel/petrol is not cheap. It has to be found, dug/sucked up, refined, shipped/piped and then distributed to be sold. Do you really think it's that complicated to make coke (the drink)? The main reason we pay so much is because of this countries tax's, not the cost of oil!
Blunder13 3 years ago
Right, so insted of an email whch takes up less than a meg of bandwith at any given moment, YOU made a video which takes up several hundred? fucking brilliance.
The idea is a load of wank as well, most of the cost of petrol is tax, DEATH TO GORDON BROWN!

Do you know that in coountries like Dubai you can fill a 70 litre car tank for the equivelant of £9.50 whereas in UK it would cost like £55.90
Cal1234455 4 years ago
Actually the government should lower taxes on the fuel. Did you know that in America prior to tax 1 liter of fuel costs 0,44 €. That is about the same as it is in France. Difference is after tax $20% in America it goes to 0,53 €/L. In France it would jump from 0,44 € to 1,32 €, because the government taxes at 200%. That is why the world has differences in fuel prices. In Venezuela it cost about 2,50 € TO FILL a 50 L tank. Venezuelans are only charged for the cost in extracting and refining oil.

No they aren't actually, Venezuela's fuel is _subsidized_ to its citizens by selling it to other countries.

Just filled my car up... WHAT THE F@@K?! majorly angry. Thinking of putting a chain on the revolving mop of the car wash round the back tonight then tomorrow morning getting one of my old school cars and driving it through the wash just so I can SUE the company for all the damages I can make up. Vehicle damage, stress, injury, loss of earnings, psychological damage, you name it...
throbbincok 4 years ago
I'm not greedy but £1.11 p per litre for fuel is a rip-off. Don't pay it. I run an old Mercedes-Benz E300 diesel 1994. It runs entirely off Rapeseed oil or vegetable oil, no problems half the price. No conversion. No duty to pay if you use less than 2500 litres (check customs website). Carbon Neutral. Drawback slight whiff of fish and chips with veggie oil or mexican tortilla with rapeseed. I love my Benz and i save so much on fuel. I think its economical motoring.

we should do our bit but i believe in value for money and the standard of living in this country does not anywhere near justify how expensive it is to live here!

piss off handsome! i pay 40% tax and pay 17.5% vat on everything i buy and everything i buy is overpriced!
in every pound over 70p is pure tax!
if the government didnt waste billions on illegal wars in the middle east and make it easier to live on the dole than the minimum wage we would be able to lower fuel tax and still pay for everything you have listed!

it helps pay for defence health care schools police fire depts it helps to give pay for those less fortunae like the homless dole money.hell im not rich but we got to do what we got to do

it's £1+ a litre and nobody seems bothered, have our brains being zapped with some secret weapon? we moaned last time and had a few blokades and the price came down or stayed in the 90p range, its higher now than it was then..we do nothing..its strange.
6evil6betty6 4 years ago
A lone voice in a sea of sheep... I know exactly how you feel about this, and I only wish UK citizens would for once wake up and look. I remember when petrol was a mere 70p per litre when I was young... but there is no reason why it should be this high
no reason at all.
