I was born with an extra thumb on my right hand that was removed when I was very, very young. The bone of the extra thumb joined up with my regular thumbs' bottom joint, so I don't know if that made it extra difficult to remove or if it was just a bad job... but I'll tell you this, they did a much better job on your hand than they did mine! I'm left with a 'stump.' Stumpy Byrne, yup, that's mah name!

Erm...my ex has 6 toes on each foot. It's never bothered him at all. It didn't bother me either. I didn't spend my time looking at his feet. Of course, maybe having 6 fingers would be strange, don't know about that. BUT if all the fingers worked, then it could come in handy...no pun intended. Anyway, we all make our own decisions. Wow, I agree with your video that your surgeon really did not reconstruct your hands and feet as well as he/she could have as one can totally tell that you had extra fingers and toes. Were your toes and fingers fully developed and functioning? Based upon looking at your feet is it hard to fit in regular shoes?

You should have kept the those extra fingers and toes. I was born with 12 toes and my parents decided to keep them since birth. I am proud of being a polydactyl guy even though sometimes people look at my toes at the beach. Parents only do the surgery removal of the postaxial polydactyly of fingers to not let the infants have the odd-looking hands. Polydactyly of toes cannot be noticed easily except when you take your shoes off in front of the crowd. BTW, 50% of your children will inherit it.

My Bio teacher told us that 6 fingers and toes on each hand/foot is dominant over 5. So technically your children should have a 75% chance to get it. Unless it was a plain mutation.  Does one of your parents have 6 toes and fingers?

you have to go back to your punnet square. because it's dominant, anyone who doesn't have it means they are "bb" or two recessive alleles. I would be "Bb". doing your square you would find 50% dominant. I'm not "BB" because if i were, i would not be alive due to a health complication that would occur from this. That's why if i were to procreate with someone who has this trait, there would be a 25% chance of one of my kids dying. not good!!!

Seeing videos like this has become a fascination of mine because I wonder if humans are not SUPPOSED to have 6 fingers and toes. Your foot looks designed to have 6 toes, there is actual space for it. It's not like its just an extra piece hanging off, it literally looks functional.

My 4 month old son has an extra pinky on both hands (his dad had them too) and will have surgery in 5 months to remove them. It occurs (polydactyly is the term)in 1 in 500 births so it's really no big deal. And by the by...my son has me wrapped around his little finger(s)...all 4 of them! :-)
