I listened well, didn't hear a saxophone.....How can you cover a sax with a guitar? Sounds OK but NO CIGAR! You guys may need to go ahead and get a band together to cover these pieces of music.... This is sad... Just screaming and more guitars......wow
someone plz replyy. did The Zombies do a version cuz i thought i heard a version by them and it was my fav. i cant find it on youtube but i see it on google
The first recording of "Spooky" was an instrumental version by saxophonist Mike Sharp. It was a 1966 - 1967 release...forgotten by most people.
Mike Sharp (Shapiro) was part of the team that wrote "Spooky". J.R. Cobb, Buddy Buie & Harry Middlebrooks, Jr. were all listed as co-writers. They eventually became The Atlanta Rhythm Section.
Spooky was originally written about Andrea Bandaras, who ironically now gets the royalty checks for "Spooky." Andrea lives in an affluent Atlanta neighborhood now.
so they sound real similar. that's because a lot of the original members from classics iv quit the band and jointed Atlanta ryrhm section. check out the original by classics iv secound or third video down.
What's the word..."trippy". Is this supposed to be trippy? This is cool, but is the original studio recording available to view? I've looked but can't seem to find it. I've found "So Into You" and that's awesome!

Yeah, I did phrase that oddly, didn't I. What I meant to ask was is there a video that was made along with the original studio recording? It seems almost impossible to find these original studio recordings along with their videos...but if you want live renditions, there all over the place ( ! ).
The Classics IV did the original. Ironically enough members of the ARS were the original studio cats that cut the 1st version! no WONDER they sound so similar, right???
niiiiice!

Ok maybe I was incorrect; ARS may not be the original to this song.
But they were the first I heard; I’ve always liked this version the best :p

Yes, though the Classics IV version sounds more mysterious, almost spooky ( laughs).
