@Bobobidodo Oh, My bad. It's crazy man. I was just thinking the other day how small an atom is compared to a grain of sand. Imagine how small an atom is to a universe :O.
@unheardrecords Best not to think to heavily about space, you will just get depressed about how your life means nothing to the universe and end up killing yourself XD
@CgShowJamez Hmm. I know what you mean. I have thought like that, But I realized that the consistency of human life accumulates knowledge which will one day with my help and all the other perished/living humans who learned something (I will probably be long gone before this happens and I'm only 16) and added to the colossus of information that will make us matter, and to think I will be a part of it seems to keep me going. =).
@alphayear How do you know God made this? Where's the evidence of this? The Bible is just a story. Don't take it so serious. I don't like to bash at other peoples beliefs but don't go spreading stuff like that around. That's basicly telling somone what you think it's true but it could be easily a lie. Don't spread stuff around unless you know for sure 100% of it's truth.
@Dx1242 It's a matter of Faith. I wouldn't want to force MY beliefs on anyone, and I try NOT to. But then I have to question anyone who believes the whole "evolution big-bang theory" of creation. Where's the PROOF in THAT? Carbon dating? There are scientists who question even the accuracy of THAT. Maybe your mind is already made up about this subject, but have you ever considered looking into "creation science"? There are some intelligent minds out there who embrace THAT "theory" so-to-speak.
@alphayear I didn't say what created this world that we live on. There's no proof of anything of what created the universe. I do admire your faith in god and it truely amazes me how many people actually been cured with hope but hope can easily be created with anything. Personally, I'm an Atheist. But that doesn't mean that I don't have hope either. I just simply create it myself. Maybe God is real, maybe he's not. No one knows anything yet. We're just a small part of the world.
@Dx1242 I respect your right to be an atheist, and so does God (believe it or not, really!) But MY life experience over the years have only confirmed my beliefs, and I know you can respect that. The God I believe in does NOT want to FORCE us to believe but only to seek Him to see if he's for real. The invitation is out there...for everyone. I also believe that the evidence for creation far outweighs the the pseudo-science of evolution. TRUE science NEVER contradicts the biblical account.
@alphayear My misunderstanding here. From where I grew up, if you didn't believe in God you wern't respected. I thought you were one of those people. I respect you majorly then. I somtimes overreact about these things cause of people pushing me into believing what to believe. But thank you for clearing that up and not forcing anything on me. Truely appreciate that. You're a good person at heart. Sorry for causing you the trouble here.
@Dx1242 Really, you caused NO trouble, I know some well-meaning Christians can be pretty mean-spirited at times trying to get their point across, but I find the "gentleman" approach much more effective. I think my reasonable fellow believers would agree with me. Have a great day! :-)
Get Google Earth/Sky, you can look at the entire sky and see everything several telescopes have seen. Hubble, Spitzer, Galex, Chandra, plus a bunch of other stuff. I used to spend hours and hours at night just exploring it. It's amazing to say the least.
That. Was. Fu*king. AWESOME! The way it just kept zooming in revealing more and more detail as it went gradually showing what initially appeared as a random smudge in the night sky as an amazing nebula full of gigantic stars really emphasizes how small we are in the universe.
Also that there is a pretty good chance we aren't the only planet to evolve intelligent life ;P
this just made realize even more, how small we are. it really is sad that we will NEVER be able to go to the far outer regions of space. i wonder what it would be like if there was an end to each universe? like some scientists believe, there could be alternate universes or mirror universes.

so how close is the closest star and wat does light years mean does it mean like normal years if yes so its 5,500 years away thats not much iv heard the closest star is like 12 billion years away from us plz answer me coz am soo confused
@wzii Well, the CLOSEST star is our SUN (93 million miles away) and it only takes approximately 8.5 minutes for THAT light to reach earth. The easiest explanation of a light year is the distance light travels in a year (186,000 miles per second times the number of seconds in a year) You can do the math, but it works out to about 6 trillion milles more or less. So if 1 light year is approx 6 trillion milles, imagine the size of the universe! Most people can't wrap their mind around THAT!
