The remixed version appeals more to the age group of kids that watches Disney channel and listens to Radio Disney. The original song, in all of it's adorable cuteness and innocence, really doesn't appeal as much to the ages in between young children and those of us who are old enough to appreciate that kind of music.

They definitely have a normal English version (un-remixed) as well (one that sounds very similar to the original). No one's uploaded it to youtube because it probably hasn't been released yet. It was played at the end of the English movie theater release. After the original innocent-sounding version was played, the remix one started playing.

I just came back from Japan and when i was there Ponyo was everywhere. I have always been a big fan of his movies and so had my host family's children. So before i got back from Japan I learned the story of Ponyo, watched the movie, read the book, and memorized how to play this theme song on the piano. I miss Japan!

Im a little sad that they keep pronouncing 'Ponyo' wrong the first 'o' is like the 'o' in 'own' not 'o' like in "pond"

What do you expect. This isn't Japan. People read the letters as they sound. Ponyo in Katakana is just 3 characters "Po" "N" and "Yo" in the America it is read as Panyo. But heck it's still the same great movie, just different language and voice actors to help with the understanding of the movie in different places other than Japan.

The kids name in the movie is Sosuke but they pronounce it like Sasuke. And the "O" in Ponyo is supposed to be like the o in "Phone" not "pond". I thought disney was smarter than that. disapointing. XD

Well, Disney has always taken story ideas from fables and legends from around the world. Miyazaki does too in fact. Ponyo has roots in the Little Mermaid fable. Both Disney and Miyazaki's adaptions of the Little Mermaid are very very different from the original fable. I think it actually takes a lot to take a small legend and turn it into a story, let alone a movie.

It doesn't really have anything to do with Disney though. Ponyo will be pronounced Panyo by most English speakers because English spelling is inconsistent. There is no written way to differentiate between the "o" in phone and the "o" in pond. Disney can't really be put at fault for this, it's inevitable that people will pronounce it that way. Its just a part of dubbing unfortunately.
