@veeseee128 if you don't like his voice, then don't watch the video ... And if you have to ask a question about his sexuality, then you obviously are not a Capote fan and care nothing for his work but would rather remark about something the rest of us would be more inclined to leave alone ...
@veeseee128 First off, why are you SHOUTING? Secondly, please go back to school, it is obvious you need to learn the basics of writing. Thirdly, please go away. Forever.
$2,000,000 he made off the senseless murder of that poor family and the hanging of the perpetrators. It's the best thing that could of ever happened to the faggot bastard. Death is a huge industry. Look at all the Books movies and TV that cater to the sick ass's that go in for such fare. Take that cock outta your mouth for a minute Capote would ya?
thank you for putting this up:D It is great to hear the man himself reading such a great story. If anyone here hasn't read 'A Christmas Memory' then do! It's beautiful.
Based on what? Truman really loved to listen to all kinds of people, it's not that he was always drinking with the rich... You know, he was not there to entertain them, go and read Answered Prayers.
Thank you very much, I'm glad to know that you liked this little video. Truman is my favorite author too! Well I know you said he's 0NE of you favs, but still it's good to know that we share our love for him.
Capote had a lot of friends in a lot of high places which is what is needed if you are going to succeed. That all came to a crashing halt when he decided to write about them using fictious names. High society dropped him like a high flying boulder. They would not even speak to him.
wow thats sad his friends stop talking to him because whe wrote about them using different names, I mean was it that obvious he was talking about them or something?
Yes, Capote thought they would be too stupid to realize that he was writing about them.Bad move on his part especially since they had accepted him in their in crowd, which is hard to do no matter how talented, smart or howbeautiful you are. After he wrote that book, the rich folks closed ranks. Afterwards, Capote started drinking and he eneded up quite alone. Joanne Carson was the only one that would talk to him and eventually took cared of him.
This clip explains the song "When a Bee Lies Sleepin' in the Palm of Your hand" from the play. Love Mel Torme's version of the song w/ Arlen at the piano. Streisand's 1961 version also here on Youtube. THX!
I just began reading Truman's Biography after reading In Cold Blood. I remember him (vaguely) on talk shows when I was young and wondering who this little guy with the voice was.
I actually love his voice too, and when he read, I guess he was a little bit more careful about it, but I remember reading his causin saying that he was not SO effeminate until the In Cold Blood era and when he started to socialize with all those rich swans like Babe Paley, etc. This clip is all I got from House Of Flowers, I would really love to get that CD. This is a Bonus track, which is originally much longer than this.
So glad you liked it, he really was a very interesting character.
@laniorov they wrote that because he actually did have a high-pitched strange voice that could be seen as irritating to some. I personally don't think it was irritating but can see how it could be interpreted that way.
I watched it... I liked it, but Toby Jones... he's just too ugly to play Truman. And who really knows if Truman and Perry were lovers? I mean, I know there were some rumours but that's just because Capote was gay. I think they tried too hard.
Really enjoyed this. Wonderfully well done. Love Capote!

i love the analogy of the kite he uses in that story to represent loss. a rare talent.

That for me is the most beautiful part of the story. When I read that I thought "I wanna be a writer" lol

absolutely. truman did things with words that seemed completely revolutionary, in large part because they actually were.

He wrote wonderful book...

I am currrently reading his book of essays and it is amazing how good he really was, right from the beginning...a very talented man who loved life.
sd2742 3 years ago 2
who loved his own life, you mean. the lives of those of 'lower pedigrees' were somewhat disposable.
great writer though. maybe we should only concentrate on that when building an opinion on someone.

Loved the clip. where did the audio came from? Is it possible to get the full version of TC's reading 'House of Flowers' or any other story of his?
Is it really Truman Capote's voice? It's beautiful. Why on earth did they write he had irritating high-pitched voice of a baby seal?!

Toby jones comes the closest to Truman..he is the definitive actor to play his life...not Philip Seymour Hoffman...you must watch INFAMOUS!!!!
