Well, they always make him say "I'm gonna go get some coffee" and a few times in like, season 2, they made him drink it.

They could have had him drink something other than coffee, like I read Alexis Bledel doesn't like coffee but since her character on "Gilmore Girls" loved it so much, whenever she was in a scene where she had to drink coffee they would fill her cup with Coke.
