It's not fast, but it's a tank! and it's fun as hell to play chicken with little shitboxes civics on windy roads

You're not getting the point. All the cars I mentioned have aluminum blocks, not iron. The differences between the metals wouldn't be just with the "whole turbo chevy crowd" as it's obvious that turbo upgrades are available for every vehicle manufacturer out there. Obviously iron is a stronger metal then aluminum or any of it's alloys, but aluminum blocks are being built more efficient making them just as realiable for FI. And only an idiot would run high boost on stock internals

Iron is a far stronger metal then aluminum. Iron sleeves are used with aluminum allow blocks because it is more resistent to physical damage (if per say particles get into the cumbustion chamber and wear out the cylinder walls over time) and block deformation. My entire point is that an aluminum alloy block can handle forced induction just as good as an iron block. The advantage of aluminum is that it's lighter. Advances in technology have made aluminum stronger, and blocks cooler

I also understand that when it comes to an engine that is designed on a naturally aspirated basis, it's the engine with the better design that will hold up best when adding a turbo or supercharger, not just the better materials. the only problem with adding FI to iron or aluminum is with an N/A design, you can only add MAYBE 8psi before blowing shit up in either. Design is key.

Actually it's not as easy to just supercharge a C6 Z06. Why do you think the ZR1 has less displacement? For thicker cylinder walls. You throw a turbo or s/c on an LS7 and you're sure to blow something up. There's no better motor in a Corvette for FI than the LS2 or LS3.
Seriously?? The LS9 is basically a supercharged LS3 with a smaller compression ratio. Again, there's no better motor in a Corvette for forced induction than the LS2 or LS3.
@phattacorider yes seriously. the LS3 is outdated. the only reason the LS( is similar to the LS3 is because the LS3 has thicker cylinder walls which are needed or the supercharger would blow it. and the big ass valves in the LS3 limit it to only 6600 rpm. as i said the LS9 is most likely the best for a vette. which is why its the motor that sits in the zr1. best vette yet.
What are you talking about? The only real differences between the LS9 and the LS3 (excluding the supercharger) are compression ratio, lubing system, slightly smaller valves, and rod and valve material. The LS3 can handle all the power the LS9 can, but would be far better on the launch with higher compression. Again, the LS3 is the best motor to put forced induction in. Horsepower sells cars, torque wins races.

Also, the Vortec motors all have the same designed internals as the LS motors retard. Iron blocks hold up better because they don't expand like aluminum but they get hot quickly and crack because they don't dissipate heat as well.

let me remind everyone the corvette is producing more horsepower from a v8 than the viper's v10. it goes 0-60 in 3.3 and the viper 3.6, its 1/4 mile is 11.2 and the viper is 11.6 also that the corvettes handling, braking, feel, etc is far better than any stock heavy viper and will out race a viper any day. the zr1 has put up much better numbers at tracks like the nurburgring (*) so please stop this viper vs. zr1 talk because you obviously dont know what youre talking about. its not close, ZR1>

Actually it's not as easy to just supercharge a C6 Z06. Why do you think the ZR1 has less displacement? For thicker cylinder walls. You throw a turbo or s/c on an LS7 and you're sure to blow something up. There's no better motor in a Corvette for FI than the LS2 or LS3.

@phattacorider yes seriously. the LS3 is outdated. the only reason the LS( is similar to the LS3 is because the LS3 has thicker cylinder walls which are needed or the supercharger would blow it. and the big ass valves in the LS3 limit it to only 6600 rpm. as i said the LS9 is most likely the best for a vette. which is why its the motor that sits in the zr1. best vette yet.

What are you talking about? The only real differences between the LS9 and the LS3 (excluding the supercharger) are compression ratio, lubing system, slightly smaller valves, and rod and valve material. The LS3 can handle all the power the LS9 can, but would be far better on the launch with higher compression. Again, the LS3 is the best motor to put forced induction in. Horsepower sells cars, torque wins races.

@phattacorider yes those are all true, the LS3 has a higher compression ratio, i know this, wqe can sit here and keep arguing back and forth for a week or just acknowledge that they are both extremely good engines because they like to tromp all over other cars, but you were saying that its the best engine for forced induction, for what? the vette? because the best engine for forced induction would be the 2jz. add about 9psi of boost to it and your compression ratio goes up to 13.1:1 to 15.1:1

You're apparently still not understanding a thing. I'm not talking about engines you can "swap" into a Corvette, I'm talking about engines that are already in a Corvette. Also, the Vortec motors all have the same designed internals as the LS motors retard. Iron blocks hold up better because they don't expand like aluminum but they get hot quickly and crack because they don't dissipate heat as well.
