The tank scene in the museum is one of my favourite movie scenes ever. Just hearing the music gives me massive flashbacks of how much I love it. Thank you for posting this.
If you haven't heard it yet, I recommend the soundtrack to Armitage the Third, another anime about an ass-kicking female android. Lots of DnB influence.
@sevinPackage Okay, maybe not a LOT of drum n bass influence... more like early prodigy-style techno influence.
It's actually got a nice balance of ambient/atmospheric pieces and action segments. I enjoyed the Armitage III OST just a little more than I enjoyed the movie.
@Arc13 The series, Stand Alone Complex, and the Ghost in the Sell Movie(1995) are actually two different storylines/universes. Both feature the same characters but the plotlines are drastically different. The series did get itself a movie Remake(The Laughing Man Complex) which retells the main story of the series while tying up some loose ends.
I couldn't help but notice the difference in the tone between the film and the comic. The comic had some humor on it, specially with Bato. The film was the opposite, with a dark/serious tone. The scene where Kusanagi walks in the rain and you have a glimpse of a tricycle floating in the river is so strong (in a symbolic way). Pair that with an amazing soundtrack and you have one of the best pieces of anime ever made.
@MultiLelde The original manga was made from 1989-1990, the movie is from 1995. There is also a "Ghost in the Shell 2.0", which was made in 2008. It has remastered sound and video with added CGI but don't bother with it. It might sound good at first but the original is movie has a better feel to it and the added CGI is ugly and unnecessary most of the time.
Supposedly they're coming out with a live action GitS within the next couple of years. Hopefully it's good! It's not my favorite anime movie, but it's definitely a good one.
The first Matrix movie was playing on TV yesterday and it reminded to watch its inspiration, Ghost in the Shell, again after 15 years. I enjoyed it even more since I probably was too young to really pay attention to the story at the time. So yeah, I decided to upload an ambient track from that movie today, the one I liked the most while watching.
@SupraDarky Hey supradarky,on an unrelated note to this video, may I suggest a pretty obscure vgm for the list (or at least for you to hear,if you don't know it?)? it's from key of heaven,a game for the psp I reccomend for fans of action rpg's and its main theme is freaking gorgeous (but, again, rare). Please help this peculiar game be known by more people.
Thank you for posting this, I owe you mad Internet karma

Saw the series and enjoyed it quite a bit, though I never saw the movie. I'm guessing any of the stuff I got confused about I'd understand with this?

@bregowine That was the Mamoru Oshii effect back then. He did the almost exact same thing with Patlabor. Especially the second movie.
derBene 1 month ago
@bregowine Yeah, the original manga is very different from the movie. I don't like to compare them, but I like both ways of presenting the story.
