You guys have to be kidding. The Bluebird killed the 57. 57 is midrangey and does allow the full range (ESPECIALLY the low end) of the amp to speak relative to the Bluebird
Yeah, I don't think it should be surprising that the 57 is better for close miking. But put the 57 very slightly off-axis at the cone and the Bluebird about three feet away taking in the sound from the whole cab, mix them together, and see if that's not the absolute best of both worlds:)
Can you make one where you place the bluebird a foot away from the cab and blend the sound with a sm57 centered on the cone? it would be helpful to see the bluebird in action in a realistic recording situation for guitar amps.
I didn't lie the midrangeiness of the 57. Bass really rolled off quickly too. Blueird has a fuller more presence type of sound. Bluebird for me!!!

Are you going straight into the Mesa or are you boosting it? My Mesa Triple Rec has no balls like this.

@schlagdog Straight in... I haven't made any videos with boosting as of yet!

Where are the two mics made? Is there a label on the box or something or the mic itself that tells you where they are made? Thanks.

I own a Tascam US-1641, are you using the built-in preamps, or some other ones?

I bet they'd sound good layered, because the Bluebird sounded fuller, but wouldn't cut through the mix as well. This is all in my opinion of course.

Definately the bluebird as a standalone, but in a full mix the sm57 would be better. more cutting, more full!
