  • Scared the sh!##!ng bejeebus out of some kind of bird near the beginning of the clip.

  • @offamychain Was just goin to say the same. Surprised that some crazy arse motha' hasn't been on and claimed it was a Youfo.

  • @MrAnonUK No, ain't one of thems. I's abducticated 3 times in the 80's, and they ex-spearminted on me. Now Youfo's stay over my trailer 100% of times, so's I can't excape & tell FBI about it. Them thangs don't look nothin' like that thar bird. These am the size of a Geo Metro (aliens are itty-bitty & was a cramped fit for me). They's shaped kindly like a cow, with 4 thangs sticking down what they land with. Nobody can see'um but me. Tried taking pictures, but batteries always drain plum down.

  • @offamychain haha ;-) atleast those thanged thangs left your personality intact. Love it lol.

  • vapor cone? how about sonic boom, breaking of the sound barrier...

  • @GetReal38 Sonic boom is the sound, the vapor cone is the condensation of air when the pressure is infinite.

  • some unlucky dude got hit by the plane at the beginning of the video

  • @CrimsonFlash16 yeah a guy not a bird, it sounds better.

  • prandtl glauert singularity, bloody hell it always look great

  • zomfg

  • I guarantee we are missing the last 30 seconds of this video in which car alarms are just BLARING.

  • Nice!

  • Thank God u didn't say 'mach 1" or some other sort of BS like everyone thinks this guy did. He would have been grounded if he had violated the speed of sound reg.

At last someone with a brain has got it right ..thanks

  • @wrh61 In the US its illegal to break the speed of sound as it is in most country's (unless it's a scheduled military test flight) the passenger jet concord i believe it's called is only allowed to break mach 1 over international waters.

  • @greenops Was allowed since the Concorde has been retired.

  • One word..... AMAZING!

  • Goes faster than this hehe

  • that was great. Did you see that bird on the left of the screen a the instant you see the Hornet. :)

  • of course u can!

  • dude that was uneeded

  • omg :O

  • holy crap

  • Amazing.

  • An easy thing to equate this to the orb of water formed on a hose nozzle, as particles are similarly compressed. Very cool to see with water vapor, though.

  • that is some star wars shit

  • Whoa....Dude!!!!!!

  • Wow, isn't that something.

  • they used that effect in total recall because it actually happens! I've been to quite a few air shows and have seen that "N-cone" singularity formed several times. Its hard to use special effects in real life.

  • true, the vapour cone can appear at transonic speeds of 0.8<M<1.2 mach... so i dont think they can cross mach 1 because it is a residential area with people and that the sonic boom may render them deaf

  • The speed of sound is not always consistent. Temperature, Atmospheric pressure, even humidity play a big role in the speed of sound. although there may have been no "sonic boom" doesn't mean the plan hadn't already hit sonic speeds. A vapor cone can be formed without hitting mach 1, but like redsox76789 said, you must be flirting with mach 1.

  • sweet....

  • nice..

  • flirtin' with the sound barrier thats beautiful

  • he wasn't breaking the sound barrier, but good try on your part

    :)

  • not breaking flirting with it thats what i said

  • you either break it, or you don't. theres really no "in between per say"

  • to be correct actually there is when u see that vapor cloud it is a visible drop in air pressure which causes a visible condensation cloud called a vapor cone which occurs when coming to super sonic speeds in other words flirting with the sound barrier

  • like i said before, your either going mach 1 or your not. mach 0.999 is NOT supersonic. anything mach 1 or above is as far as i'm concerned

  • wow your ignorant or you dont know how to read he is FLIRTING with the sound barrier look up the word FLIRTING

  • There's no such thing as Mach 1.

Vapor cone can appear at transonic speeds.

  • hmmm, i that mach 1 was 768 mph.

  • Some teenagers obviously need to go outside and experience the world before they defiantly classify everything as "not real" on YouTube in their imaginary self-importance.

  • Amen

  • hear, hear... dido...

  • Agreed!

  • @33vortex yawn

  • @33vortex - But only teenagers?

  • @cyborgtroy mental juveniles yes ;)

  • was that a bird.lol

  • 0:02 something hit the jet at supersonic speed it looked like a man

  • It looks more that one in the plane fell off.

  • Comment removed

  • its a bird not even close to the plane prolly spooked by the noise lol

  • yeah i love my aerospace too. must have been a pilot in a past life doing low supersonic fly bys bursting a few ear drums

  • Hot damn he didn't actually hit the bird did he? Looks like the bird got screwed up by the speed and draft

  • Nice. He hung right at the pressure point. Truly skilled and very educational. Incredible.

  • thats not a vapor cone. thats a force field / shields.

  • did he just slice a bird?

  • That bird was just going for a relaxing fly around the bay when WOOOOOOSH a 10 ton jet fighter tore him to shreads, poor fella.

  • saddd

  • not sure, but i think he killed a bird.

  • And maybe some fish too.

  • Is he supersonic ? Or just real close to supersonic ? There was no 'double' boom after he passed

  • he's flying transonic, which is right on the edge of the speed of sound

  • do you mean subsonic?

  • no i mean transsonic which is about 0.8-1.2 mach (so it can be either subsonic och supersonic). this video shows a vapor cone (Prandtl-Glauert Singularity) which occurs when you break the sound barrier.

  • u fucken dickhead. the vapor clouds appear when theres a sudden drop in air pressure surrounding the jet, can happen at high subsonic speeds aswell as supersonic. he was very close but didnt go supersonic in this video

  • He actually went supersonic. If he was still subsonic, you'd hear the sound when the plane comes into view. But you actually hear the sound a few moments (microseconds) after plane passes by.

  • yeh a plane thats supersonic u cant hear till it actually passes,id say he was right at the point which means he was travelling side by side with sound which explains why u dont hear it or a boom...

  • You are correct but what you said happens only if the airplane is 30,000 ft high or above. When the airplane is that high and breaks the sound barrier u see the plane way ahead of where the sound came from. But when the airplane is close to the ground (like in this case) it doesn't take that long for the noise to travel to the listener b/c he/she is so close (compared to 30,000 ft). I am actually an Aerospace Engineer. I'm just trying to clarify this. No offense to anyone.

  • yeh at high altitudes i understand what ur saying, but are u saying that at low alt u can hear a supersonic jet before it passes? that cant be right... what im sayin is this guy and sound appeared at the same time, he didnt pass before the soundwaves reached us...

  • here's the easiest way to tell whether or not this F/A-18 broke the sound barrier. Notice the disturbance in the water. The nose of the plane is ahead of the disturbance in the water (horizontal distance, not the vertical). This means that the F-18 is going faster than speed of sound. If it was going transonic the disturbance and the nose would be in the same location (i.e. they would have the same horizontal location).

  • ok so its supersonic, but why no boom?

  • when you listen to the video, u notice that there is a "zipping" sound around 8 seconds. That zipping sound is the one that causes the boom. Shockwaves are a type of "characteristic waves" (aerospace technical term) and there a bunch of these on the aircraft that when they combine together they form the "sonic boom". Since the F-18 is close to the ground (water in this case), they get destroyed by the water and therefore can't form a "boom". That's why there is no boom in this video.

  • fair enough lol smarty pants, but why do other supersonic videos have a boom close to water?

  • lol. Thanks for the compliment. Its just that I like Aerospace a lot. To answer you question about other videos, there are many factors that affect the formation of shockwaves and sonic booms. The temperature, the air density have a significant affect and the point at which these "characteristic waves" combine is dependent on these parameters. So sometimes if the conditions are right, you'll get a sonic boom and if they are not, then you'll get the "zipping" sound.

  • what about shitty ass cameras..

  • what about them?

  • It's a Prandtl-Glauert condensation cloud. They occur at most any speed, they don't have to be going mach 1.

The Blue Angels are prohibited from going Mach1 while doing their routines. If they do go super sonic they are grounded. (from the mouth of an ex Blue Angel pilot that works with me)

Even at 25 feet you would hear the sonic boom and feel it, I've heard many while doing my job, I work at one of the only places in the U.S. where you can fly super sonic over land, Edwards AFB, CA..

  • oh.. OH! sorry i wasnt 100% correct but had most of the facts right.. yeah that makes me a dickhead

  • lol dont put urself down like that

  • Watch the first 2 seconds slowly. And I mean SLOWLY.

  • good spot! wth was it?

  • A bird, much closer to the camera than I initially thought. It dove exactly as the plane appeared, either by chance or it got startled

  • Awesome!!!

  • BLUE ANGELS AIR SHOW

  • That's interesting, a supersonic jet traveling 25 feet above the water midday in San Francisco Bay.

    I wonder if anyone complained?

  • cool

  • this is very awesome

  • Does this happen to that supersonic car too.

  • It can, but since land speed runs are usually run in the desert you will probably never see it happen. You need pretty humid conditions so the water vapor can condense on the shockwave. You can however see the shockwave as it kicks up the dust on the ground which is kind of cool looking though

  • and no thats no duck being hit by the aircraft...prob just in the line of sight of the camera but much closer than the plane...its so big...if indeed there was a bird strike at that speed probably the plane would be in trouble...and the bird would be feather dust...

  • the 'cloud' is water vapour being squeezed out of the air by the shockwave created from the plane moving thru the air...nothin to do with soun barrier...it happens in moist air usually over or close to sea/ocean...u can see similar clouds but not cone shaped on airliners takingoff/landing in humid conditions(in fog or after a rainstorm)formed around the high lift devices of the wings..even at relatively low speeds..

there are restrictions for flying in airshows..they never reach Mach1..anywhere

  • the PG singularity (a.k.a. the 'vapour cone') does have to do with the fact that the aircraft is flying at transonic speeds, i.e. near or around the speed of sound. The vapour trails seen at takeoffs/landings of civilian aircraft is a different phenomenon.

  • The limitation on supersonic flight CAN be waivered for some airshows, especially over the water. That cone-shaped "cloud" occurs as an aircraft transitions through the sound barrier.

  • They would have NEVER granted a "waiver" for something like this . Just getting permission to do a low pass in a major crowded harbor is somewhat if'ee. Flights like this around in dryer air would not have produced the same effect. It was more common to hear sonic booms back when I was a kid(early 60's) but they stopped that as the services stopped wanting to pay for so many broken windows; among other things..

  • Not true... Waivers ARE granted for airshows and other demonstrations. When I was on the B-1B flight test program there were several times where the aircraft broke the sound barrier. Sonic Booms were a common event in the Antelope Valley (near Edwards AFB)

  • Anyone tried water-skiing off the back of that plane yet???

  • u ski and i'll cam it for ya, I PROMISE :)

  • no problem on the back of a Master-Craft, not mad enough for that!!!

  • Cool video. My understanding is the PG singularity cloud happens just as the plane approaches the sound barrier. Had he broken it you would have heard the boom (technically two booms). And BA pilots are strictly forbidden to fly supersonic. Again, that is my understanding.

  • Your understanding is correct about the Vapor cloud. I don't know anything about the BA restrictions though. I say though..if you are going to put on a air show do it right..lets hear the boom baby!!

  • Cool video. My understanding is the PG singularity cloud happens just as the plane approaches the sound barrier. Had he broken it you would have heard the boom (technically two booms). And BA pilots are strictly forbidden to fly supersonic. Again, that is my understanding.

  • OMFG now THAT is what I call cool.

  • stop it at the end of 1 second there is a duck or somthing that falls becaus the jet hits it

  • yeah i saw that

  • damn...he must be flying at around 50ft..

  • This was taken at an air show. The angle makes the plane look closer to the boats than it really is. The boats were in a designated area leaving the flight line available. I had seen the original post on the creators website not too long ago. HTH!

  • There is no way that is fake you idiot. That is so f****** cool. There is no way that is fake

  • HOW IS THAT FAKE???

i saw this, san francisco fleet week 2007. some were even lower than this. they were sued because in one flyby they blew about 12 people of a private sailboat

  • how the fuck is that fake u dumb piece of shit?!?!?!?!?

  • The problem with flying that low, that close to traffic on the water (and there are boats there) is slamming into a mast at 600+ knots. Kind of messy.

    Otherwise, awesome video.

  • Those passes are all planned ahead and boaters are all warned to stay clear of a designated area....not sloppy at all!...extreme skill and those boats are further then they appear.

  • gtask8 is an idiot. u really dont know what the laws of physics are. tisk that was the sound barrier. what u saw was the air condensing behind the plane with he barrier cause the the speed of the air it condensed. its not vapour is condensation

  • u seem to know alot about doin that. please go on and tell everyone in the world how u have so much experience in doin that. Retard.

  • Actually from my experience, that would not be the sound barrier.

There is a name for it, to which i cannot remember, but Sound Barriers are not allowed to be broken in public displays...

  • I think maybe is what they call "Prandtl-Glauert singularity"

  • tru. very tru but he didnt break it as yet. he is actually sub sonic. so its still under regulation but he is pushing it.

  • F-18 hornets are completely capable of breaking the barrier at sea level, which is almost what you almost see in this video. The pilot didn't break it, but he was flirting with it.

  • cant be the sound barrier, hes too close to land. Its just the wings forcing air downward with such amazing, cause water to spray upwards.

  • This is what it was:

"The Prandtl-Glauert singularity (sometimes referred to as a "vapor cone"), is the point at which a sudden drop in air pressure occurs, and is generally accepted as the cause of the visible condensation cloud that often surrounds an aircraft travelling at transonic speeds."

    - Wikipedia

  • That was the sound barrier.

  • wow!!!

  • that is amazing piloting skills, id beed laughing if there was a boat directly under it

  • idiot

  • Well said.

  • dumbshit..how is that fake. they do this shit all the time on practice runs its called a sneak pass

  • lol. boom.

  • grandes bostas !!

  • I love how the shockwave made a wake in the water

  • America F*** YEAAAAAHHHHH!!!

  • wow looks exciting , but the poor bird looks dead when it gets hit :(

  • I just got a stiffy!

  • nice .)

  • very great video...

  • You know, there's a difference between bf2 and

    real life.

  • hahahahahahahaha

    that was hilarious

  • Veterans for Peace, Global Exchange and Code Pink want the Blue Angel shows banned because they're "noisy" and "bad for the environment".

  • Even F-18s aren't as loud and shrill as Code Pink is!

  • haha thats great. You are right on!

  • the cone was cool for 3 seconds

  • That bird is no where near the jet.

  • Holy shit.

  • it hit a bird!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i seen it lol poor seagul

  • omng it's true! at the start! But it looks like it's actually closer to the camera than the plane...

  • I was at that show, and was completely blown away by that stunt. The guy next to me knew it was coming but didn't tell anyone so he could get a clear video. Bastard.

  • that was an orgasm in the mouth

  • You mean a mouthgasm?

  • I think he meant oralgasm.

  • holy shit he took out that pelican!!!

  • That may the most fantasticle thing ever. I want to make babies with that plane.

  • Your tax dollars at work. Well at least we get a cool show.

  • he almost takes out a bird right at the start of the video LOL. not transonic flight though. just condensation

  • LOL, you can hear only a few people respond at first. Then all is silent because everyone is checking the front of their pants to see if you can tell they wet themselves!

  • i'm surprised no one is saying "oh my god look the plane broke the sound barrier you can see it LAWL!!!!1111" .... nice camera work though

  • because he was flying low?

  • Actually, einstein.. these airshows generate a lot of money - people come from all over the country to see the blue angel airshows.
