@clovis12324 Jaysus man,What planet were you on:) Gillian has been playing guitar for years, you know she played guitar with Joy Division briefly, ask Ian :) in Liverpool i think.
I can either watch or listen to New Order from this period and never get tired of it. They deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame if they aren't already.
Personally, NO were never the same after Gillian Gilbert left. She was to NO what Tina Weymouth was to Talking Heads: an equal partner & full contributor to the band's sound & persona. Both of them came along at a time when women in rock and roll were becoming more than either just vocalists or window dressing.
I know it's a pretty generic thing to say, and it's bad of me to continue comparing New Order to Joy Division.. But damn, this is crying for Ian's voice. This would have been a welcome edition to the third Joy Division album.
@ady10001 They were AWESOME live, in my opinion, I think the thing they get the most criticism for is that they played GOD-AWFUL SHORT SETS!!!! I think they played under an hour once when I saw them live. We were all standing around at the end of show saying, "that's it????!!" I heard an interview with Sumner where he explained that people get bored at long shows, but I don't think he understood that we would watch them for hours and hours, if they allowed....
I agree that this is better than the album version. Has a much warmer feel to it plus Barney was not in the best of moods. They were streets ahead of the game in this period. Will we ever see anything like this again?
I had no idea Gillian played guitar. New Order just got even cooler, which I didn't think was possible.

This is such a great track, very Joy Division-y. I can almost hear Ian Curtis' voice on this one.

I don't know why some people say New Order were hit and miss live, cos all the videos on Youtube are AWESOME

If you were old enough to have been there and travelled around watching them live you would know they were very hit and (Pernod/speed?) miss.
But for all that I still fucking love them all !!

Really like this version. Reminds
me of Sly and Robbie or if Sly and Robbie
had produced this track.

this live version completely blows away the one on PC&L in my opinion. this sounds like it has more swing/swagger to it, which makes it even sexier
