  • How do you prevent mosquito larva and algae?

  • You will find lots of parts and accessories for rain barrels at Aquabarrel . com

  • You are right...I incorporated those vents from another online instruction but there is plenty of room by the downspout to allow all the air you want.

  • No need for air vents on top the downspout let water and air in .

  • Excellent video.

  • Great level of detail! This video is definately an improvement on the other YouTube Rainbarrel videos! Thank You, OldChimp.

  • Over 100 gallons of water from a 2 inch rainfall? Time to expand your storage capacity.

  • You are so right...but, those were set up at a school where I taught and it was partly a demonstration project...but this summer I plan to install several at home. No gutters installed yet but it will all happen.

  • Thanks for the video! I like the pipe with on/off valve at the bottom of the barrel.

  • thanks for sharing!

  • I didn't know about the gutter adapter. Thanks.

  • Thank you so much for educating people on siple ways to help the environment while saving resources and money at the same time

  • if you connect them at the bottom instead of the top, you won't need a second spigot.

  • The top spigot is for overflow. I don't understand your point.

  • he has two barrels and two spigots plus a connection pipe. If he placed the connection at the bottom and not the top of the barrels, they would both fill up and over flow like they do now, but he would only need one spigot to drain both.

  • You make a good point but the design of the holes in the tanks does not allow access to the bottom interior to make a good seal. A second idea would be to use the faucet holes to build a connecting pipe, then branch a single faucet off this. As long as the soffit vents are added in the slave tank (or something similar) the connecting pipe would allow the water level to stay even in both tanks. Extend the pipe and you could add countless tanks using a single source of water and single faucet.

  • lol this is my exploring technologies teacher for the semester i never knew he submitted stuff 2 youtube

  • That was my teacher last semester. I remeber doing that.

  • WOW, thank you!!! This was great!
