  • Wow, I've been to Scotland once, and I was able to listen to the band play this.

  • You know what fuck the football team, Fuck the basketball team. ITS THE PIPE BAND that makes me PROUD to be an SFU student!!!

  • you are making your school look bad with horrid linguistic ability

  • Mmmmm, no I don't think he is.

  • this band is current world champion in highest grade for pipe bands.. I can understand him being proud ;)

  • I don't. He's being proud of a band he isn't part of, taking some sort pride in something you don't contribute too is nonsense. It's like being proud of your eye colour. What nonsense.

  • that's an idiotic comment. It's his university ffs, like he can be proud of the band and be proud of what a good job they do and how they represent his uni.

I'm proud of the Canadian olympians but I don't come to their practices etc. so should I not be allowed that?

  • He degrades his football team and basketball team. Why isn't he 'proud' of them? Presumably, they're shit. He follows what ever team is doing well and backs them. It's a pathetic mentality.

Before you reply, really think about what you're saying. It's clearly a foreign concept to you.

And yes, of course you are allowed your idiotic patriotic viewpoint.

PS - It isn't 'his' university - he doesn't own it. He's a student. It's the university he attends.

  • Well you know what? That's like saying you are mentally pathetic for not being proud of your local curling team but you are proud of your local hockey team. And also nobody says SFU is the university I attent ou say SFU is my university. I think you really need to calm down. It's the looser's like you that make huge fights on youtube.

  • Mentally pathetic? Is that the same as having a pathetic mentality? If you're not sure what a mentality is, may I suggest a dictionary?

And yes, it is exactly so. People shouldn't be proud of factions that they don't contribute to.

"And also nobody says SFU is the university I attent ou say SFU is my university"

That isn't a sentence. So I shall not delve into it.

    I'm perfect calm, bub.

"I always think it's a sign of victory when they move on to the ad hominem."

  • Almost sounds like 'Reel Around the Sun'. It's not exactly the same but maybe

  • This is about the song at 4:54

  • anyone know where i could find the music for that kickass air that they play? and the opening hornpipe?

  • the hornpipe is called Graham Drummond and myself have been looking for it but i cant find it!

  • The opening hornpipe isnt called Graham Drummond. The opening horn pipe in the Streaker.

  • I really dont know why its so hard to find nice tunes like streaker! (opening tune) I have tryed everything.

P.S. bladieha, I dont know what the tune is called but if you want to find out go on goolge and search SFU worlds 2004 and you will find it!

  • The worlds best pipeband, top notch.

  • Cough 78th frasers, Shotts and dykehead, Feild Marshal Montgomery cough lol, now those are the groups, with the exception of strathclyde

  • All great bands ,you are right to mention those other pipebands ,i should have mentioned them.Regards

  • I know, cant wait to see those bands compete at the worlds this year

  • That,s for sure it will be great no doubt.

  • fmm is kinda choking lately. sfu prolly gonna place above them at the worlds, I would say top 3.

  • like they have been doing for the past 7 years lol, no doubt, so how is fmm choking lately? i havent seen any videos of them lately, im really waiting for when my band goes to the worlds this year to see all of the bands

  • fmm's pm's pipes didn't strike in, he tried but his bag sprung a nasty leak or something. he kept on pretending to play and directing the band in the circle. there was another comp this year where the pm straight up didn't play in the circle. he wanted to listen to the chanters and figure out something that was wrong. plus strike-ins have been poor for a lot of bands this year. especially SLOT, even though they're close to the top this year.

  • ya I hard from some of my fellow corps drummers that SLOT will take it this year, which made me even more excited about the Worlds this year. so do you/have you played with a pipe band? I am a snare drummer in the NWJPB based near Seattle Washington. thats bad news about FMM, but the competition will still be fierce :)have you heard any news about any of the other bands? i hope strathclyde is doing good, i like the drumcorps, as well as 78ths and of course SFU

  • I used to be pipe sergeant for a grade 5 band. That really sucked. Was looking to join Tulach Ard grade 2 in Boston, but they broke up when I got here. Now I'm looking at maybe one of the grade 3's around here.

Good luck at the World's man, that's awesome that you're going.

  • thanks, this has been our best year, with a second, a 1st in canada plus best drumcorps, and now this weekend we recieved 1st and best drumcorps on saturday and today we got first and best drumcorps giving us the aggregate for the two days and the title of G4 Washington State champs...so pumped this year , ive only been playing drums for 2 years and am already competing in a very talented g "3 skilled" g4 corps

So boston? used to live there. have you seen any bands your intrested in?

  • thats not really choking? its not the band just something that happened to the p.m.

  • I reckon SFU are going to win it myself.

  • BC home of the Seaforth Highland Regiment of Canada YAHWAY!

  • and what about them...

  • loving the tenors... tenor for life!!!

  • What is that last tune called, it's shit hot!

  • It's called Mari's Wedding. It's an easy tune to play but these guys harmonize and are quite innovative, absolutely brilliant!

  • It's called Dr **** Reel (soz can't remember) but the tune with all the harmonies before it isn't Mhairi's Wedding it's Air in B minor Reprise.

    Still brilliant tho.

  • is it called the streaker tho

  • is the first song called 'The Streaker'

  • love that title.. wanna play it for me at the next football match? lol

  • TUNE not SONG there aren't words.

  • Must take back championship from Field Marshall Montgomery. 2 pipers from SFU now playing with my old Pharts.

  • That almost makes me want to go to university in Canada. My school has no pipe band.

  • its an awesome school. One of the best in Canada :)

  • amazing

  • looking for pipers in shropshire uk to play with is ther anyone else in my county other than me

  • Everytime I hear SFU I am blown away. I could listen to them all day long!

  • i hear ya man!

  • Field Marshal Montgomery from Northern Ireland were the World champions in 2004 and were champions again this year, retaining the title they also won in 2006. SFU were second, as they were last year. The House of Edgar Shotts and Dykehead were 3rd. All these band are great, and have maintained a great tradition for years now. This is a great recording.

  • Land of My Fathers

Love to play this in the mornings to wake myself up and get new energy for the day.

  • i hear them practice at school sometimes

  • Dayumm, they are good.

  • SFU is more than a pipeband they are an institution. Terry and Jack Lee and many other talented people dedicate their lives to this. You can look forward to enjoying them for years to come.

  • classy reprise of the air between the reels and the hornpipe. they are so awesome.

  • They are just fantastic!

But how hard is it to become a piper in SFU?

    Give me a pm:)

  • Well, many of my ancestors had the same name than the university. I know that they were all Lord of Lovat...

  • Can anyone remember the name of the air? It's driving me batty!

  • "Air in B Minor" written by Andrew Douglas and Dani Millar... both of whom play in the band.

    It's a beauty.

  • nice drum sound :)

  • not hard to see why they are world champs.

    incredible

  • would be a better vid if you could see more of what was happening on the left

  • it`s a great video amazing true professionals!

  • it sounds like there is only one instrument playing

  • As well it should be!

  • its supposed too, thats why they are good beleive it or not.

  • Great Video! Aren't they amazing?! I hear them all the time. My brother's in the RMM 3 band.

  • outstanding!crackin drummin!

  • true professionals!

  • i like the air especially

  • The air? That's an odd statement (at least where I come from), I assume it means the same thing as you like the music?

  • the air is a common short term for the slow air

  • Outstanding piping there!

  • i like the whole medley set.

  • Tight!
