i think what any basketplayer fan or player can learn from chuck hayes is his hard work and mental preparation. sure he does layups for a lot of the highlights but it's how he's moving without the ball that most players and fans dont realize. his defense is a whole new level of mastery.

thing i like most about chuck is he knows his game and what he can and cant do and what he can improve to get the most out of himself to help a team win. not all players know how to do this.

People don't realize how much of an important role player he is. He has great team defense, defensive awareness, and is one of the best post defenders in the nba. He tracks rebounds, hustles for loose balls, boxes out effectively, he's a decent passer from the high post, great hands, and has a great work ethic. One of my fav. players in the league. Hope he stays a Rocket for awhile.

Wow this is great. Chuck Hayes is one of the truly underated players in the NBA. I don't even think his salary is over 1 million, but he has been such a big contribution to the Rockets team against the Lakers.

He has no offence, he relies on other players to set him up. Defense wins championship but when Chuck is on the floor his man doubles on Yao. He is not good on both ends, just great on one for his height. Valuable weapon to have if a pf starts lighting the Rockets up.

Like you said if Hayes are about 7foot tall and a great shot blker you would able to find a bunch about it. However Hayes is a good ON THE BALL DEFENDER. He does but not everyone has good hands and touch. You can't teach that, ask Dwight Howard who still mostly relies on dunks and put backs. Hayes is also undersized and he can't get too far off the ground. The fact he is still able to be productive shows his work ethic.
