She opened her show for a while with this tune, sauntering out onstage to the beat wearing a halter top, Levi 501's with the top button open, and bare footed.
1timysand. She did an Ed Sullivan show singing this song exactly as you describe. I bought a( bootleg )dvd of her television performances including her last, the 1980 mothersday special on nbc, where she sangthe broadway song ' Mama A Rainbow'. The bootleg cost me thirty bucks on ebay but I've played it a hundred times in the last four years.
I saw that Ed Sullivan show when it aired and have been hoping someone would find it and post it. She also sat at the piano and played and sang "But I Can't Get Back" and then, I think she did "Put a Little Love In Your Heart."
timmysand. It's a crime the boys club at Capitol sabotaged the promotion of her masterpiece album ' PatchWork'. When the album just missed the pop album charts they presented her with a watered down second tier contract with a much lower royality rate. She flatley refused to sign. I get the heads up from an old a&r man from Capitol. The thought of a woman writing and producing her own record was too much for their little minds forty years ago.
When I saw her live she talked to us after the show and said she thought Patchwork was her best album yet, and I could tell she was very proud of it. The Girl From Cincinatti was about to be released and she definately expressed frustration over the way Capitol was handling it. She had fan club members alerted to listen for it on the radio on a certain date and Capitol delayed it and she was clearly not happy about it. I still love her music and think she is top notch, a real Artist.
This song has Rick Hall and his 'Fame ' studio written all over it. It went #71 pop for Bobbie as her follow up to the near million selling single ' Fancy''
I use to dream that Bobbie would make a man out of me!

Great song...an awesome version of this song is with Ry Cooder doing up Ry Cooder style and with Amy Madigan on vocals...it's intense.
