  • this music remembers me something about pokemon:?

  • You should include the "mute button" in your introductory list of supplies needed.

  • nice macguyver theme song

  • please help i did this but i didnt use any cleaning solution or thermal grease and my computer turns on but freezes at startup. Please help.! do i need to use the cleaning solutinon and thermal grease?

  • @captainjack97 the thermal grease is ABSOLUTELY nessacery. your computer turns on and off because the cpu overheats too quick. the grease helps pull the heat from the card to the heatsink and is vital to the heat sink's functionality

  • And remember put cheesy music on

  • You forgot to tell us to reinstall our battery and power.

    Now my laptop won't work!

  • @bencurwen96

yeah don't forget to breathe either or your own battery wont work..

  • hahaha nice video and in the end of the video :P

  • Why would I need power food...

I will grease my laptop and drop a lot of crumbs on my motherboard...

    wtf XD

  • @berezker there is no mobile version of the core 2 quad

  • Is this a socket P chip? if so, could you tell me how to do the pinmod? thanks

  • im watching this on my laptop that im about to fix LOL

  • PLEASE PLEASE HELP ME!!!

CAN I CHANGE THE PROCESSOR ON MY LAPTOP FROM INTEL CORE 2 DUP INTO INTEL CORE QUAD PLEASE ANSWER

  • bro u forgot the step where u have to put amp all over the motherboard??

  • what was that pinmod dude?

  • I need a banana peel, gum wrapper, and a straw stat!! What?, I made bombs with less!!

  • awesome mate : D

  • I hope the cleaning pad is for his hands...

  • Thanks allot this is really helpful.

I have a question though how do I know my laptop's cpu is replaceable? I heard that some laptops you cant replace the cpu.

    Please reply and thanks again.

  • steps 1-5 take stuff apart until you find it

  • Did you wash your hands? :P

  • replaceing a heart cardridge is easyer than this

  • take your laptop to a work shop x_X

  • No pude seguir porque no tenia la poderosa comida

  • im 2 scared to do it xD

  • Would you do this for me? X'D alotta respect for you man, i don't even know if my laptop can be upgraded.

  • thank U man, your video is great :)

  • The music's so dramatic that it sounds like your performing surgery.

  • @powerpluslev

    MacGyver at it's finest

  • thanks

  • hey bro thanks 4 the vid but how to do pin mod , can u reply? thanks in advance

  • my laptop doesn't have that front panel thing

  • will my laptop be able to cope if i upgrade my cpu from a t5250 (1.5ghz core 2 duo) to an x7900 (2.8ghz core 2 extreme)?

  • @blainyrules uh...it depends on the motherboard and judging by the 2.8ghz.i assume its for computers and if you tried it with your laptop...it wont exist anymore

  • @shiveringstar21 on intel's website its under 'intel core 2 extreme mobile processor' so i assume that it would work, its that same socket type, both 65nm technology etc...

  • @blainyrules on desktop yes, but laptops have a very low processor range because of small board space, powerflow etc. new ones maybe but i would ask a computer repair place first. dont want to cause fatal overload on pc unless you realy want an excuse to get new one :P

  • @crownedman104 i was gonna take it to a computer shop anyway to just be on the safe side, but i see no reason why it shouldnt work, i mean since the X7900 was designed for laptops but deemed too powerful for laptops to handle, wouldn't it have been pulled off the market straight away?

  • I am still very new at this, i have a NV3 Series laptop, and the processor its running right now is pretty slow and its holding me from playing games smoothly; its running a AMD Athlon 2 Dual-Core M300 2.00 GHz , i want to replace with something a lot faster, prefrebly a intel processor, i still want to keep the fan running not so loud, what do you people recommend? i was thinking of getting it proffesionally installed because i am still not knowledgeble enough to do it myself.

  • wii this work on chipset

  • You forgot one essentila Item! A laptop!

  • @billze6 me neither ;-)

  • fuck it i'll just take mine in

  • bad job never never blow electronic components

  • Nice video man, the music is just right, old McGyver. :)

  • And here is where the problem comes in. All laptops are slightly different from each other. Like in my case xD I need someone to show me how to upgrade a CPU for a HP HDX16 Model. I want to upgrade to i5 Quad CPU

  • im upgrading my main PC processor from an AMD Athlon 6400+ 3.2ghz dual core to the AMD Phenom 3.2ghz Quad Core,..so would it be possible to put my old Dualcore AMD into my Acer Aspire 7000 (i think) it already has an AMD mobile Sempron in it,...?

  • @heavenlybastard Make sure it is the right socket.

  • Nice post. Can you make a video of replacling a cpu for a dell mini!!!

  • i liked the ending :)) LOL

  • Mcgyver! youre the BEST!

  • Wow yours is a little more complicated...all i have to do is take the back off mine and i can see the two CPU's

  • wow.... I am not going to change cpu by myself.

  • lol you spelled screwdriver wrong

  • power food? o_o

  • 90s show music, awesome :)

  • My laptop is so behind the times. Only 1.4 GHz processor...

  • mine 1.6 GHz, and when i ran to the forum and asked can i run dragon age? everybody said no. how sadistic huh?

  • mine is 1.73 GHz, intel celeron M 430.........i dont know what processor i can replace it with, my laptop is a lenovo 3000 C200, any suggestions? which processor i can upgrade it to?

  • My 3000 c200 1.73 is going to be upgraded to 2.13 (with luck and a few reruns of this movie). I've only ever upgraded Ram and installed DVD writer before so a novice. . Here goes....

  • are u going to make a video and load it to youtube man??? your new 2.13 processor is it dual core?? pentium? celeron? amd? what is it?

  • If it had worked, yes BUT damned thing had wrong pins for the socket. Looks like my research was flawed. I need the Celeron M 450 2.0GHZ not the 2.13.

Good news was it was really easy to attempt and still works! Just had to open rear access plate, remove 3 screws for the fan and disconnect and remove, followed by 4 screws for the heatsync, which could simply be twisted up not fully removed allowing enough access to remove the processor and attempt replacement.

  • did u record a video of it?, well but celeron M450 2.0Ghz it doesnt make much of a difference now ,does it? , it would be best if we could change it for a dual core or something like that, btw how much was the 2.13 i mean what was the price?

  • £18. Socket and motherboard won;t take dual core hence trying for best speed in current processor range. Any improvement would be nice and at only £18, small improvement would be OK value.

  • @dozzy000 pentium m 1.8x ghz.. i read you can go out to pentium m 2.0 ghz on that c200

  • McGyber theme jaajajaja

  • The video needs to be closer.

    Cool music!!!!!

    Good general tutorial.

  • wut is a pinmod...? >.>

  • why not? it pretty much walks you through perfectly without a lot of extras... liking mindless talking.

  • That Patrick Gallagher is a talented guy.

  • can any laptop cpu be changed??

  • um... they just did it in the video lol

  • utube is utbueiousrsl!

  • What's the mod that you were doing?

  • I hope to get a faster processor for my laptop soon. The thing is starting to become sluggish.

  • nahhh joks

  • lol can u do mine ill pay u lol !

  • I can use some liquid courage right now. lol

  • @Wokkabird i sure can too!

  • This is WAY easier on the XPS M1530. The Motherboard is upside down so you just need to unscrew one panel on the bottom to get access. I think you used a little too much thermal grease, it should be equal to a grain of rice.

  • Yes, for a mobile CPU in a laptop it should be that size, then for a desktop CPU, it should be the size of a pea and you spread it around with a buisness card.

  • always leave your screws and other metal object on the screen, so you dont lose them. and your 7up. but not the doritos. its hard to clean. you rock for having a 7up with you. ok ok. i didnt say anything. im hamered right now. your dolitos rocks

  • That totally wasn't a 7up, but it would rock if it was.

  • sorrii!! i was like stupid that day

  • It's fine, it seriously would have been awesome if it were a 7up, though.

  • oh you'd have to be fucking retarded AND blind to think that was 7up*

  • whahaha WHAT DO YOU NEED : Power chips! whahahaha lol funny

  • must we remove wifi card?

my laptop wifi card is in behind.

  • dude you fucked up, you put a Frito in the ram slot and ate the memory! Pay attention man!

  • no wonder why it didn't turn on =)

  • T_T great video

  • fucker, eating next to your workarea, fiddling with all those parts

  • @bernardoroy i'm such a bad influence!

  • Well, it's different for every notebook.

  • How do I know which processor is compatible with my motherboard? I have acer travelmate 3270 laptop. Is my motherboard Mobile Intel® 945GM/PM Express chipset or what?

  • nice job patrick, i have the same laptop, which is unusable, i was trying to open the lappy from the downside screws, but to no awail could reach the cpu socket, then from your video i learned to properly open the area for cpu upgradation/change, which cpu did you pluggen in?? i mean any compatible and faster cpu.

  • very limited on cpu options. you can put in a pentium m 1.6 mhz with 533 bus i believe. i sold the laptop already. i miss it. i loved the sd memory card reader.

  • Google the RTFM procedure. ;-)

  • very very good video of nothing

  • Agreed; thermal grease is easy to overdo, making it less effective. The "pin mod" is probably highly specific to this model/chipset, and is surely well-documented elsewhere...and...specific computer questions are probably best asked in a different forum, like "Tom's Hardware"...which you can Google.

Finally, nice job on the video. Thanks to the author.

  • woah! there is intelligence on youtube! thanks man!

  • @InfotechCapital i appreciate your feedback!

  • TOO MUCH THERMAL GREASE OH GOD

  • u need alchohl since the beer doesnt have enouch alcohol to make u change ur cpu?

  • Thats not beer. It is an energy drink.

  • AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK-57

    (512KB L2 cache, 1.9GHz)

HOw about my Acer Aspire 4520

    1.90 GHZ

    768 MB RAM

    XP

  • Can I Upgrade mine to Quad Core? From Athlon to Intel Quad Core? If not then what is the equivalent of Intel Quad Core to Athlon?

  • No if you have an athlon and your trying to change to a (better) intel chip its not going to work because the layout of the chips are different, as far as an equivalent, well i wouldent try for 3 reasons, 1) HEAT, quadcores give a lot, 2)your mobo will not support an upgrade like that, 3) lol if you want a quadcore from AMD thats your choice but amd has been blown out of the watter by intel (again). If i were you i would wait until later this year for the quad-core laptops!!! (also get intel!!!)

  • This Show_off_son_of_a_bitch AMD got their hands on Acer 4520 VERY ANNOYING!!! I NEVER DREAMED OF HAVING AMD!!! CRAP!

My Father Bought this for 2499 Saudi RIyals(668.039 US Dollar). He will not buy me a laptop again. He will not buy my own laptop instead he is going to buy his own! Cheaper than mine T_T

  • get the x9000, best (fastest) laptop processor out there.

  • A dual core processor would make much more difference than another gig of ram, you should have no need for more than 2gigs, even w/ vista

  • pentium m's never came out with dual core. rtfm

  • what about the BIOS set up you didnt demonstrate it thats the most important part. when you change the processor the BIOS set up is most important otherwise your laptop is not gonna work.

  • no bios setup needed. speedstep automagically works too! the chipset is a 915gl.

  • Damn that's a weak processor? A t5550 is like 1.83 gHz.

  • And I see that you're a brilliant mind yourself, making creative videos.

  • Thanks, smart ass. Try cramming this class project in while taking 6 college level classes. For what it's worth, I did discharge before filming ;-)

  • This was a good video on how to replace a laptop cpu. It shows the middle panel removal, keyboard removal, and cpu and heat sink proper removal and replacement (including heat sink paste on processor).

    Great job!

  • what do you mean by pin mod? 33% increase?

  • raises the bus speed from 400mhz to 533mhz.. do a google search for pentium m pin mod for more info.

  • I knew I spelled that wrong, Ok Macgyver.

  • like the maguyer music

  • it's the extended theme to MacGyver.

  • i wanna replace the pentium dualcore 1.6 ghz in my inspiron 6400 with a t7200 dualcore 2ghz . . . . are there anty issues that i shuld know ? . . btw whats the pin mod ? ?

  • check the service manual. almost all manufactures have their service manuals online. in the service manuals, about 90% of the times they tell you what options were available for that specific model.

  • what is that "pinmod" all about? does that work for all laptops?

  • it's for pentium m cpu's.. try searching on google for: pentium m pin mod :-)

  • Thats a christening song that

    loser

  • excuse me? come again?

  • That's awsome!!

  • very good, I love this repairman :D

  • tnx :P

  • love the mcguyver theme

  • you should become a surgeon

  • you rock
