  • Thanks for having this video posted. Impressive informative talk.

  • What is called science by the *science-worshippers* of the present age and regarded by them as equivalent to the sum total of *reality*, is simply a collection of laws applicable to a single dimension of the world. The result of all human effort and experimentation is a body of knowledge concerning a minute bright dot comparable to the dim light of a candle-surrounded by a dark night enveloping a huge desert of indefinite extent.

All praise is due to ALLAH, the Lord of the Universe.

  • @1tabligh

YEA, YEA... blah blah blah... now go to back to sleep...

  • @iwantholodeckforbday So much science for this uncivilized brainless pseudo-Scientific Demagogue!

How can you delude yourself and believe that hydrogen and oxygen, electrons and protons, should first produce themselves, then be the source for all other beings, and finally decree the laws that regulate themselves and the rest of the material world?

  • @1tabligh "The result of all human effort and experimentation is a body of knowledge concerning a minute bright dot comparable to the dim light of a candle-surrounded by a dark night enveloping a huge desert of indefinite extent"

Thats very true.. and religion is like a rabid dog urinating onto that candle.

  • @seblasian The atheist Delusion!

How could some of the scientists permit themselves to make a claim that would necessitate knowledge as extensive as the scheme of the universe, when their knowledge of the total scheme of being is *close* to zero, when confronted with a whole mass of unknowns concerning this very earth and tangible, lifeless matter, let alone the whole universe?

  • @1tabligh The answer is that they don't.. only the religious claim a source of absolute knowledge.

  • @seblasian Do scientific discoveries and knowledge cause such a scientist to conclude that matter, *unknowing and unperceiving *, is his creator and that of all beings?

    No?

Then how can the duped atheists and some of the scientists delude themselve and *believe* that hydrogen and oxygen, electrons and protons, should first produce themselves, then be the source for all other beings, and finally decree the laws that regulate themselves and the rest of the material world?

  • @1tabligh I'm not sure whats the point of your comment.. obviously, scientific discoveries DO cause scientists to take on a materialistic worldview. Despite being ambiguous its pretty clear that whatever point you are trying to make, your trying to make it with misrepresentation. Scientists dont regard our current knowledge as total reality, its just that myths and superstition are useless in filling the void wich is why they are rightfully ignored in science.

  • @seblasian The Development of Beliefs Through the Ages!

    ------

If "superstitions" and religious myths are to be found among ancient peoples, constantly being infused into new moulds because of deficiency and weakness in thought and restriction in knowledge, this does not mean, then, that religion, with its doctrinal content, is false. Rather, it demonstrates the primacy and autonomy of religious aspiration in the very depths of the human soul and heart.

  • @1tabligh A short copy-paste into a search engine confirmed by suspicion that you are just rattling off someone else's material like a mindless drone. Try thinking for yourself for a change.

  • @seblasian Is it at all feasible to regard all the geometry, functioning and movement of the universe as the outcome of matter in its ignorance?

Dodging ALL the questions and quibbling in vain!

Materialism looks at the world with one eye *closed* and, as a result, is unable to answer numerous questions!

Deluded atheist looks at the world with BOTH eyes *closed* and, as a result, are unable to answer ALL the questions!

  • @1tabligh Do you think that spamming comment boards is going to convert anyone? Just stop, its pathetic.

  • @seblasian How can it be supposed that belief in the existence of God is the acceptance of contradiction, whereas belief in the uncaused nature of an effect such as matter is not contradictory?

  • Sam Harris is one of the biggest hypocrites around.

According to him, terrorism is bad (but if Zionist Jews do it it's OK).

  • @OrthodoxDarwinist lol. You are ignorant. He never made that statement. He said anything that affects anyones quality of life isnt a good thing. You might need to watch this again before you make such ignorant statements.

  • @rednyellowCellarDooR

Actually he made many statements saying that he supported Israel's actions: killing countless civilians at a ratio of 11.3:1 and illegally occupying and blockading the occupied territories against international law.

At the same time he spends his whole life condemning Muslim terrorism.

Thus it is perfectly correct that for him terrorism is perfectly OK, as long as its Jewish.

  • @OrthodoxDarwinist I know youre probably a muslim so it might be hard for you to get cos you choose a side. But Sam Harris doesnt choose a sertain side of moral truth. He just follows logic. He is not cooperating with jews. Dont be so closed in muslim propaganda.

  • @mnemoniccourier

Actually if you look art my page it's obvious I'm not a Muslim. Youre just hiding the fact that you're a typical Zionist racist.

  • @OrthodoxDarwinist Im not a racist thank you.

  • if you get to the heart of what Sam Harris is saying and discover the truth between the well thought out constructs of his points and arguments, you can see that quite plainly what he is saying is that we are all "products of our environment." An age old lie that permeates this new movement of science mixed with philosophy. If you believe we are all products of our environment then i submit to you, that you have not done your homework.

  • @neonleonification What do you find most ignorant or offensive about the notion that we are "products of our environment"?

  • Intellectual badass.

  • Can Science Determine Human Values? Maybe. Check out "Generous tit for tat"

  • Introducer: Sam Harris needs no introduction,

Viewer: clicks 3:05 from the top comment.

  • There is a counter argument to Sam's concern about the rights of women and I just read it in Chris Hedges book, Empire of Illusion: The End of Literacy and the Triumph of Spectacle. It is this. The subjugation of women is far beyond the matter as regards religion. Hedges chapter titled The Illusion of Love examines the porn industry. I am not a religious person but I do think we should pay attention to accusations that weighty evidence we have become a decadent culture and society abounds.

  • @larbish

I really don't understand the counter argument.

That we have Jerry Springer and triple fisting movies doesen't have anything to do with any of Sams claims.

  • @ManicMindTrick Triple? Ow ! (that's just a guess. Never taken even one. Honest. Really. I'm not lying).

    I swear.

Triple. Really? Is it hot? What's the name?

Wait a minute. This isn't some straight pussy stuffing is it?

  • @356pla

There is a thing called google if your not familiar with it.

  • @ManicMindTrick I've received an invitation to become your youtube 'friend'. I appreciate the spirit in which I hope it is intended and thank you, but I suspect 'friending' could open more doors than I want opened.

It seems everytime I expand contact through the net a new burst of unsolicited email comes flooding in from drug pushers or such.

  • @356pla

    Where are those drug pushers?

I have over 1000 "friends" and not one have offered some weed or any other drug. You have to been lycky.

  • @ManicMindTrick I was speaking of the like of Viagra, Oxycotin, etc.

Not one out of a thousand? Who do you hang with?

  • @356pla I believe it's called...wait for it..."The Trinity" BOOM, you've been a terrific audience.

  • What a moron.

  • That woman stood for NOTHING, relativism is a bit scary at times.

  • Sam is the ice cold killa of religion!

  • Hahahaha "every third shall walk in darkness"

  • To skip the introduction by the host go to 3:00 where Dr. Harris begins his lecture.

  • go sam harris! religion is nonsense!

  • The guy introducing Sam sounds like Ralph Nader.

  • Religion is created by man, but faith is of the soul (Deity)

  • @ERiggin Faith is the default for the ignorant. When your head hurts from thinking hide in faith, all safe and cosey.

  • @cnestudy1 Wellbeing is not being raped or tortured. People flourish happily when they're educated and have food. Is the concept of physical health subjective? Who says vomiting and having gangrene aren't healthy?

  • Harris' argument is flawed since well being is subjective. Return to his example of the tribe which blinds each 3rd child. It may be they believe mightily in a God which promises them paradise in exchange for this sacrifice. If their belief is strong enough, they may even consider it a sacrament. One could easily imagine a child due this fate, and for whatever reason spared it, feeling deep psychic pain as a result, and *demanding* to be blinded. Priorities and context are everything.

  • @bicycledealer1 What you say supports Harris' argument. It's not prioroties and context, it's dangerous BRAINWASHING when a victim wants to be victimized. Another true example is that of women in cultures where they ritually circumcise young girls, cut their genitals and sew them up. An uncircumcised girl is considered "loose", undesirable as a wife, so mothers make sure their daughters go through the painful mutilation to have a "normal" life. An upside-down morality, totally wrong.

  • Harris' argument is so obvious that it just drives me mad that so many won't see it. Morality is about well-being? There are better and worse ways to seek well-being? I thought such statements were literally on a par with 'water is wet' and 'the sun is hot', and I really wouldn't have believed the reaction he's getting if I hadn't seen it for myself. I feel like I'm in the Twilight Zone!

  • i hate these looong, grandiose intros which tend to be more about the host than the speaker - the ppl who watch these generally know who/why theyre watching. note to atheist community - cut it out and get to the speech, already!!!

  • i hate these looong, grandiose intros which tend to be more about the host than the speaker - the ppl who watch these generally know who/why theyre watching. note to atheist community - cut it out!

  • Thank you. =)

  • Intro was like a leaking bucket... he dropped Dan Dennett (said three horsemen instead of four), pronounced Dawkins as 'Dawson' and said something about Sam Harris having written four books (when it's three) and still goes on to mention the three titles. I mean people screw up sure, but come on, really?

  • @tigeruby It was hilarious!

  • @tigeruby He sounds like a professional fuck up.

  • @tigeruby lol dawson

  • @tigeruby As bad as that intro was it was more engaging than vast majority of banal monologues by young students or aging self-important professors that Harris often has to sit through.

  • @tigeruby c'mon he was nervous - leave the poor man alone.

  • Idiot introduction. He expects more from Harris?... I mean they are both great, but come on, Dawkins is a living genius. And isn't it FOUR horsemen?

    Sam is great though.

  • LOL, Dude says "Richard Dawson". WTF.

  • @Tradd9

Richard Dawson was the host of Family Feud gameshow; he used to kiss every female contestant on the lips.

  • Harris comes on at 3:05

  • @iamthe3rd Thumbed up.

  • @iamthe3rd thank you!

  • Good stuff Sammy!! Love from Australia!

  • 10:00 Being "well educated and liberal" is no guarantor of intelligence.

  • @fctchk Not always no, but our greatest and most important intellectuals generally lean left of center.

  • @blobvision It's long overdue, in matters of Law, Politics, Economics, Journalism etc, to retire the left vs. right dichotomy and replace it with reason, evidence, logic vs. fallacious reasoning, lack of evidence, faulty logic.

Liberals e.g. feminists with their concern trolling cultural and ethical relativism have turned out to be even worse than useless as allies in the reason project.

  • @fctchk No. That's his point. Religious belief is the great equalizer of utter stupidity.

  • I was at a 7-11 convenient store today making a purchase and I noticed a small black and white picture of a crowd from far off and it said something about helping the starving people in, I think, Pakistan. I imagine the level of empathy and therefore the amount of donations would be higher if instead of a black and white picture it was a full color screen displaying people suffering in real time.

  • Reading the Moral Landscape right now, a truly transformative book
