I'm grateful to you beautiful members of the global queer(LGBT/gay) community! Working not only to deliver great performances in the current Broadway production of "Chicago", but standing up to assert to young people
that their lives will improve. Many years ago, as a young man, a teenager really, another boy I loved (Bobby Griffith/Prayers for Bobby) and I together dreamed of a better world, but to actually witness it come to pass, takes my breath away!
Thank you for taking the time to tell everyone that it gets better. It's touched my heart, and I'm sure it's touched the hearts and lives of many others. I consider myself lucky for having so much more than support in my life, and for having so many friends who will always look out for me. And an alliance that's got my back - it's only just been started up this year, and after only two weeks, it had more than 20 members! Thanks again :)
It does get better, and there's only one way to go: up! :)
ive been called a gay boy and t because im slightly feminine (and kinda look it too) people constantly ask me if im a boy or a girl even tho i cut my hair now it confuses me especially since that now that i ensure my hair is short that people are still genderly confused about me- it might just be the way i act since i am abit flamboyant at the best of times :P and because of this i think i might come out to the rest of my friends cause only like 18/100th of my friends know im gay
guys I just wanted to say thank you for this video, I'm bi-sexual and I just came out about 2 weeks ago, everything seems so blurry now, but watching everyone's videos and what they experienced makes me proud, and fourtunate that I didn't need to endure the teasing that many people get. I really am touched by everything, and I wish for the best for everyone one of you.
I really hate when people bully others! I'm Bisexual and I came out this year and other people say I'm disgusting and they say it's wrong to like the same sex and they just call me a faget and throw things at me. Just today I just got so pissed that I just wanted to strangle them all!
Thank you- and thanks to my wonderful brother Greg-way to stand up! Love you Bro-you are a treasure to do this and help those that need help! Love ya-your sis!
I couldn't hold back the tears. I wanted to kill myself once, not because of bullying, but you're right. It get better. I could scarcely be happier now, only a few months later.
Thank you so much! When I was a young kid growing up in a small town in Ontario (that's Canada for my American friends) I never imagined that I could have the life that I do now. I was so shy and scared. Called fag and queer. I came out (which went badly, but we'll save that for another post), moved to Toronto, met the love of my life and we've been together and so happy for more than 21 years! I've got great friends, a job that I really enjoy and I couldn't ask for more. It gets better!
The entire company of CHICAGO wishes to thank everyone for the wonderful comments on our video. We only hope that our message gets to those who need it most...
Thanks cast and crew-truly fantastic and touching..yet saddened to say that as an adult, it's still happening to us over the high school years and not being able to be comfortable at the work place still exists, so my life is still awaiting to get better..but with the love and support all of us can give to the young kids, hope can still be out there....
Outstanding, guys. This is one of the best "It Gets Better" messages. I got all verclempt towards the end, and when my partner woke up, I couldn't speak to him for a few moments. Bless you all!!
What an amazing message! I wish there would have been someone who told me so when I struggled with my own coming out. Well, finally I can only agree: It get's better. Sooner than I thought!
Yet I'm a bit sad that there is obviously still a need for this message.
LOVE this!! My "Chicago" family- thank you SO much for posting your beautiful, heartfelt, intimate and personal messages. Thank you all so much- we're spreading this and other links from the It Gets Better Campaign for those now, and the future, who need the support. -JvB (former sound engineer, B'way company of Chicago)
You know what would make it get even a little better? Remixing and reuploading it with the background music a bit lower - it overwhelms and distracts from what people are saying at times.
I wish there was a way to make sure every human being could see this video. Thank you for the message, the courage, the honesty, and the love. Life is worth living!!
