If you ask me, the best thing about this series is director Miike. I think he's really the only one who can make a good and smart movie (or tv series) out of a japanese comic.
Director Chan-wook Park made an excellent movie from a middling Japanese manga, and in my view that was much more impressive than this. I stand by my comments.
Osugi Ren is the best thing about this series.
