Just saw this film recently.... It's better than your average Family Channel crap but it's often overlooked and really rare.. Wasn't a big fan of Christina nor Anne but seeing them both here at age 14-15 you can clearly see that they're growing up quite nicely into real babes!

Honestly, all this lesbian subtext crap is out of context and getting old... I've seen movies with real gay subtext like the 1960s Batman and 1995's Batman Forever.

@JRS1982, I actually did a report on this movie in a class I took in college called "queer identity," where we were supposed to take something (lit, film, song) that was considered by mainstream to be straight and show the gay subtext. I think it is literally the gayest movie I've ever seen as far as subtext goes. probably why I loved it so much as a kid.

Anna looks as it was intended to look, she fights boys (at the beginning of the movie) and acts more like a guy. It makes contrast with Christina Ricci who looks really good in this movie.
