  • Spring 2012 = mid April = my birthday = guess what im buying myself? ^_^ FUCK YEA!

  • so supposedly production starts spring 2012 from what subaru says

  • Boxer engines are great for racing in any kind of race. First of all, it keeps the center of gravity down low. Second, there are no counter weights to muffle engine vibration the counter weights are the pistons them selves and with that you get a bit more power. Third, it is a more balanced engine because it is aligned length wise and is mounted further back behind or on top of of the front wheels (or rear wheels for the Porsche 911). All in all it is the pound for pound best engine design in a

  • @jester2539 nah rotary is the best engine!

  • Kinda stuck between getting one as soon as it becomes available, or waiting for a while as to see if they place a bigger motor inside of it, or turbocharge it. A 2.5 subie motor would be nice.

  • everyone forgets that toyota also makes the IS F. they could use that platform as well, and maybe have an si sedan competitor. i still dont see how the boxer engine is the best choice. i have a great distrust in subaru bc i kno their engines and trannys are highly unreliable, esp when its turbo'd, or in this case, supposed to rev high. theres no way this car will be as reliable as your average toyota

  • @lockheed08 I agree. The last thing Toyota needs is another RECALL nightmare...keep your products in-house were you can keep a close eye on quality. This thing is essentially a SUBARU (engine and platform)...Toyota quality means nothing if you're actually buying a Subaru in disguise.

  • @happy543210 Interestingly enough, a day after I made that comment, a report came out saying that Toyota has "revised and re-cast" the boxer engine, as well as had it tuned by yamaha. This means they've done a lot of work on this engine to the point where it may just be pretty decent. I may not like Toyota, but I sure trust their work. I think it's now worth having another look at

  • @lockheed08 Well, I DO like Toyota. I drive a 2004 Toyota Tacoma and would hate to see Toyota build this car "on the cheap" by borrowing design and technology from one of its major competitors.

  • @lockheed08 And another thing...that idiotic Subaru commercial where the father hands over his keys to a small child, and the child immediately turns into a teenager, makes me sick!

  • no it will have tha flat four

  • that shit is ugly

  • The Concept shots I've seem of the true FT-86 body make it look like a cross breed between an Audi TT and the batmobile. and yes the body you see in this vid is not the legit body, it's a racing body slapped on there to deter people from attempting to spy toyotas current brain child while they real world performance test the vehicle... obviously that failed...

  • if this would be the new toyota omg i would kill myself... i was hoping this was the new supra and this is ugly

  • I much prefer a High reving N/A engine rather than a turbo one. So would most of the poeple that have ae86's. Also the boxer N/A is gutless, unless they do some magic with it which is highly unlikely .

  • How so???

  • wtf, thats not the toyota ft-86

  • @kuzco170 did you even listen to the narrator?

And also, do you even know what a testmule is?

  • that thing is gona be sick! I have one on GT5 :)

  • Comment removed

  • @ chocho why so sad buddy have you ever heard a boxer motor exhaust note..... its like a dream .

The boxer motor has been proven to take alot of HP just ask the owner of the 1200 hp STI.

Just think of it when you are cruising around you'll have the boxer motor and that mean exhaust note you will have people heads turning .

  • Awwww I just can't get over that there going to put a boxer engine in it :(

  • @choco107 a boxer engine is actually a great choice..

  • Too bad the Subaru version is going to be faster. :(

  • @kpz1234 pretty much same engine, so i think u can swap the engines

  • wow people....this is not the final product, its simply a mule for the chasis and engine. Body work will be done later....geez guess no one has heard about "camouflage"

  • that thing looks more like footwear than a car, its fugly, back looks like a bmw wagon

  • @meattube4u33 its not really gonna look like that. they put sheet metal on it to hid the real body. image search it

  • That doesnt look anything like the concept. The A pillar and C pillar are way too bulky and squared on this POS . The concept sits lower and is way more angular in shape. Sorry dont believe it one bit.

  • wtf?... that looks exactly like the current Impreza turbo, just with a stupid costume on it.. :|

  • If this car really does come in under 2900 pounds with a 230hp engine, I, mrslowskyline, will fellate myself. You can hold me to it, if you like.

  • @MrSlowSkyline no that's ok, i'll just take your word for it

  • Dont mess with me. Thats the back of a DeLorean!!!

  • guess what everybody. i just found out that toyota/lexus is making an FT-86F!!(just like the lexus is300F) and it has a 300HP SINGLE TURBO!!!!! with 2 big air ducts on the sides of the bumper, a somewhat small rear wing/spoiler and 2 small air vents on the hood!!!! its in this japanese car magazine i bought yesterday!!!

  • @AE86TougeRacer Really?? 300hp single turbo? 2.5L boxter engine in guessing. 300hp, 3000lbs rwd... Turbo...... TOYOTA HAS CREATED THE S16 SILVIA

  • @snakeeater66 3000lbs is kinda heavy... the original AE86 was alittle over 2000lbs(stock) and WHAT??? S16 SILVIA?? U MEAN S15???? also, there making a newer revised 2.0 liter boxer engine... keep in mind this is the FT-86F(turbo version) the base one is supposed to be 170HP NA engine(same 2.0 liter boxer)

  • @AE86TougeRacer I mean the s16 nissan never made. the the original AE86 was alittle over 2000lbs yeh, but with all the govern regulations most modern cars are 400-600lbs more than ones 10 years ago. (25 years ago, they were 1000lbs heavier though, lol). There is a NA 2.0l DI boxter engine and they should add a 2.0l turbo with 260hp. But hey if there is someone in that company with a brain they will shove the 2.5l sti engine in for 305hp and a under 5 second 0-60 time.

  • @snakeeater66 its not because of regulations that make the car heavier, its all the new technology. simple one is power windows, GPS, electronic dash, electric mirrors, big computer systems and all those goodies slowly add more and more weight. the new 2.0 boxer is supposed to be a revised version of the current subaru boxer in the impreza. and the turbo version was rated at 300HP not 260....

  • @AE86TougeRacer if it's still a boxer engine they can piss off... waiting 20 years for another rwd fun car and this is the crap they want to shove down our throats.. boycott this POS..

  • @wil8115 its not crap. toyota/subaru put alot of time into this. AT LEAST ITS A STEP FORWARD TO GETTING MORE RWD SPORTS CARS ON THE MARKET!!!!! pluss the new boxer is supposed to be better!!! U HAVEN'T EVEN DRIVEN ONE YET!!! U CAN'T SAY SHIT UNLESS YOU'VE DRIVEN ONE...

  • @AE86TougeRacer engines that sound like they are farting should NOT be in a Toyota.

Period. You call this a step forward, I call it a side step at best, possibly even a step back.

We can agree to disagree without you typing in caps ya EMO....

  • @wil8115 wtf u mean EMO niggah?!?!?!! you just don't get my point wow

  • @wil8115 You're right, any engine you can hear at all shouldn't be in a toyota. Too loud, all the elderly and all the females would complain, at which point they would have no customers >.<

  • screw toyota because of their stupid delay. its really sad i guess 370Z it is. they think cr-z is a good idea how retarded is their marketing devision??

  • TOYOTA FTW!

  • Long before this car's rumors emerged there were rumors that Subaru was developing an impreza coupe. Those rumors seemed to have died down now. I can't help but believe they are somehow related.

  • Myro, do you think Subaru will create a completely new body for their version (which I believe is debuting in march)?? Or do you think they'll dip into the parts bin to save money?

  • Do you guys even have your speakers on?? ONLY the CHASSIS and ENGINE setup is what they're testing! That body that you see in there is NOT at ALL what its going to look like once its produced. Do you even KNOW what a chassis is?!? LMAOOOO

  • I'm surprised no one has mentioned this yet.... This definitely seems like it will be the Subaru version. It has most Subaru parts on it(front grill, headlights, wheels, possibly spoiler) but at the end of the video there is a Subaru forester. If the guys from Toyota were testing this chassis they'd be driving a rav-4 or highlander. Not conclusive, but definitely some good evidence that this is the Subaru version. Also, the Toyota concept's rear en is not as high as this. Maybe a 3 door hatchb

  • @fblainen11 not at all my friend. This is a "test mule", the body you are seeing is not what the car looks like at all. He even says in the video that it's just slapped on sheet medal. They were just testing the chassis and engine of the car.

  • no matter what, i will get that car!!!

  • is it still covered to distinguish the shape

  • I like the back. Looks like an old AE86 Trueno or Levin.

  • OMG I CAN't WAAAAAIIIIIIITTTTTTT

  • dear toyota,

please take your time and build this car very, very carefully. we know you have it in you to make awesome things like the supra and the mr2 and also boring things like mostly everything else you make, except maybe the celica. please make this be one of your awesome things. thank you.

  • Uhhh, this IS the Subaru version - not only that but it doesn't have SHEET METAL on it, it has LEATHER MASKS, the same ones they used to cover the Nissan GT-R concepts, and pretty much every other subaru concept car that runs on the Nurburgring. This comment section is full of faggotry and stupidity.

  • Do some research you dumbass noobs. That's not the actual model. They slapped on some metal sheet over it to cover! why? They're not allowed to reveal the actual model yet duh!

  • man thats ugly, so glad that the other concept is being made instead

  • @Sasori327 ur so dumb hahahahah.

  • looks lik somone cut off its ass

  • Its camouflage people NOT the final production vehicle....

  • im sorry but if that ends of being it. its HIDEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! , its uncalled for ugly . thats how bad it looks. i am really looking forward to them bringing it back but not like this

  • Just look like they shorten the 2010 and make it a 2 door

  • so are they actually going to make it?

  • I dont care what engine it has cos as soon as I get it it's coming out and getting 4AGE'd

  • Initial D lets go!!!!

  • The car will suck. An n/a subaru boxer will have very little power potential and any power adders will be prohibitively expensive due to the engine layout. The subaru version soulds like it will have more promise, rumored to have a turbocharged boxer and AWD. Its disappointing however that the RWD toyota version while having tons of potential for being a fun rwd sports coupe, will be underpowered with no reasonable option for significantly increasing the power.

  • AE86 Reborn.

  • Thats a subaru not the ft. It looks too much like a impreza in the front.

  • @McBurner007 it's a disguise, they use the face of a subaru & the rear of some other car to hide it from people. although it's not really working as a disguise.

  • That look like CRAP!!!!!!!! They should have made it look just like the concept car, that would have been a winner.

  • @McBurner007 It's a test car i.e. chassis, enginge, gearbox with just a shell around it. They know there is heaps of people spying out there. Its also a joint venture by toyota and subaru, hence the name toyobaru and the subaru looking styling.

  • @McBurner007 Don't worry, the final product will look like the concept, maybe not as futuristic but still cool. Like the LFA concept, the actual finished car looked quite different & not as sleek as the concept model.

  • FT-86 with Boxer engine oohh shit that would be awesome or even a 4 cylinder Toyota engine don't care, a boxer would be cool though spread the weight in the front.

  • Anybody here who thinks he can guess the engine based off the sound? boxer etc

  • naturally aspirated subaru boxers engine are very reliable, but christ the turbocharged version in the sti's are repair happy :S too bad, but then again that's why those are called tuner cars, for tuners only. :D

  • @LightYagame1 I believe it is the 2.5L euro and US spec engines with that problem only because the ECU makes the air/fuel mixture too rich. An AP accessport will fix that easily and for around 500 bucks.

  • ew -_- hopefully it looks alottt like the concept version

  • This isn't the production car, obviously. Toyota slapped on "sheet metal" to disguise it from attracting unwanted attention. In other words, it's the 2.0 L D-4s Boxer engine in a disguise.

  • @BeefBowlFridays yeah the body panels didnt even connect the same way they just tested out the engine

  • what the fuck is that lol.. ugliest shit ive ever seen in my life.. looks like a car that the people in england make/drive.. looks like a fucked up version of the crx too lol..

  • @r0llindubs thats not the car they were testing the engine that is just some plastered sheetmetal to get the engine to move somethign similiar in weight

  • Thank god this isn't the production version

  • @lexusES350h

    Yeah that thing is UGLY.

  • what the FUCK is that

  • its going to be a non turbo boxer engine close to 200 hp

  • @DKXMxMonkey the subaru version is gonna be 260hp turbo, still RWD

  • it's supposed to be a boxer engine i think

  • I hope its got a v6

    2jz-gte ftmfw !

  • @STiFtw2k9 The 2jz is not a v6...

  • @ottowaton ik ik I6 .

  • if its masked and they never got to look at the engine how do they know its really the ft 86?

  • For the terrible looks, lets just hope it doesn't end up an FF.

  • Yet another ugly piece of metal from Toyota

  • This isn't the car people .... It's just the chasis. And engine ...

  • hurry up...I can't afford the LFA

  • @MrBassAsassin lmao foreal!

  • its not an ae 86 wowowowo u guys are retarded its a subaru imprezza chasis, this car is soo gay, why are people even bug eyed over it, compared to the st 205 st 185 this thing is a sisii girl car it makes me angry wen enthusiest think this is a good thing toyota and subaru came together, i personally think if they sticked to their plot scince 94 they would be top compedators for sports cars, incuding blowing porch 911 turbos like my 91 mr2 does, funny how they made better cars back then !

  • mostly made by subaru

  • @racingchamp101 Toyota is the majority stockholder of subaru

  • bring this car out already TOYOTA i just hope it stops jajaja

  • that looks hideous, am I the only one who sees this?

  • @poserskaterboy its called a mule car

  • it doesn't sound like a boxer.. it sounds more like a deeper 4AGE reving high

  • @pavcon cus it will have equal length headers on it like all subarus tuned cars

  • dumbasses here. listen to the commentator before you comment about sti. he said "it doesnt look like much but underneath the sheetmetal is the ft86 engine using the body as a mask"

  • thats a subaru sti if ya ask me. down to the exhaust tips, even the body. and the wheels. wtf?

  • @MagicGnyus 2 door sti? doubtful

  • I almost started to talk shit, until the guy said it had sheet metal to mask the true look.

  • So let me get this straight. Subaru and toyota are each making their own version of the same car?

  • this will not be the body the ft 86 uses. its just to test the chassis

  • That is no ft86

  • @Brendon00000 agreed, this is not the toyota FT 86. look at the pics any where and u will see diff.

  • at the ending clip, did you see the forester parked next to the garage the car pulled into?

yeah, that's almost definitely the Subaru version.

  • its a test chasis/engine..not the final product

  • is it just me or is this car ugly? IMO does no justice to the original AE86. hope the engines as reliable as Toyota engines are, cause I sure know Subaru's engines are crap.

  • @drewpoh subarus are very reliable...

  • @tylerdoophead seen enough subaru engines die to know there crap compared to toyota engines.

  • @tylerdoophead These guys know nothing of the EJ22 apparently.

  • @Redneckwolf exactly. i am a mechanic myself. alot of there pancake motors are aggravating but they last and last.

  • Respond to this video...its uglier than the new one go wit r35 sexy and fast

  • Some people don't understand the frase "Test mule" morons...

  • they made that sweet ass car look like a Pontiac Aztec!

  • looks better then the concept id say

  • it just looks like a partially covered up MY09 Subaru WRX STi...

  • the only thing that resembles the concept car is the tire size

  • @ejuoi they change everything just the shape to mantain aerodynamic, and also the weight distribution to mantain real handling of the real one.

  • Thats no ft86 look at the tail lights and the rear side windows

  • ITS JUST A TEST MULE, the body means nothing, they were only testing the chassis and engine

  • It does mean something ... if you look carefully from front door to front bumper its a 2010 subaru wrx sti hatchback .... this could mean that the production car will sit on a subaru chassis....

never let the mules fool you ... alot of things on the mule will stay

  • @groundhabit Lets hope that the boxy body doesn't.

  • that car should be destroyed....i mean NOW!

  • your a fucking idiot. test mules like this have plates all over the vehicle to keep any spills from leaking to the public. before you say shit like that i want you to google toyota ft-86 than come back

  • you are a jackass and a half to take any comments seriously in youtube. lol you are owned!

  • nah. dipshits piss me off. doesnt matter where it is. especially dipshit who think they know what their tlaking about..... i would like to add you posted your comment 10 hours ago? you sit on the computer for 10 hours?

  • nah lol! im on and off with the computer. 10 hours on the net is a loser's hobby hahaha

  • Toyota its gameover. The domestics are taking the car industry over.

  • @DevPack lol what?

  • @Snakeuserorochi

    DO U SEE WUTS HAPPENING????dummy

  • Comment removed

  • @Snakeuserorochi

yea that why toyotas sales are down. And there most popular models classified as hazards on the road. ok so maybe GM and all are going down, but look at ford. They are actually making profits with there extremely good class leading products.

  • Comment removed

  • @Snakeuserorochi

o i will stick to my beautiful fords. Stay safe in those toyotas those accelerator pedals are going WILD.

  • Comment removed

  • @Snakeuserorochi

fixing...lol typical dumbass comment. Fords are not what they were 10 years ago. Once you actually get in one and drive them they are much better than any other import. I doubt i will have anything to fix in my Shelby, Fusion, and Escape. Stay away from a new toyota you might end up idk DEAD!

  • @DevPack are you really shtill going on about this?..has ford ever made a car so great that all its fans demanded a new one? do you know what this car was made from? well most likely not. and ooooh a shelby oh my and escape. thats a good word for ford, escape while you can before your stuck fixing that american POS. listen son i doubt you have ever heard of this company but i worked for whipple industries, i got to see some shit you only dream of. now go along, enough stupid comments.

  • @Snakeuserorochi

well 2012 focus was demanded, the fusion is in high demand. o yea toyota just recalled another 200,000+ of their ooo sooo awesome priuses. yea not soo good lol.

  • @DevPack all u can attack is recalling, but idk if u can give us solid evidence saying that ford are about quality.

  • @shiningyrlife

well lets see car and truck of the year. Ummm also the fusion won north american car of the year. U gotta admin ford has stepped its game up there is no doubt about that. One more fact it has the best selling vehicle in the US.

  • @Snakeuserorochi ..the pinto was a explosive hit for ford, no?

  • @itsmesean not as big as these. the ae86 is still demanded and hard to find and this ft86 was demanded by toyota customers to revive the ae86. this was their solution.

  • the back looks like something that once opened a camping tent comes out.

  • Comment removed

  • reminds me of the VW Corrado.

  • 2011?

  • The AE86 lives on...

  • thats sick son

  • it kinda looks like a coupe STI which would be badass

  • this thing will cost more than we thought and won't perform good as we think... imma wait and see though, if I disappoint then I will get a genesis coupe

  • I have a filling that it would look totally different from the concept due to people not liking it or not, its all about marketing moves, make or break

  • It the supra it called the FT-HS.

  • @Aznbabyboi84 Supra has been scratched, they had it for release in 2011 but was cancelled because of the new MPG requirements. Prolly have something in the works. The desired wait for this car is insane, if they can get a good powerplant the car will be sick.

  • how much will this car cost???

  • Hoo weee.... Thats Uuuuuuugly. It looks like Volkwagon corrado with "down-syndrom".

  • @originaldriver You realy don't have any idea what a test mule is, do you?

  • @gyneve Sorry sorry... Just poking fun at it. But still......

You gatta admit, they did a good job of hiding that car under a mask of "pure ugly".

  • @originaldriver: My bad, it was easy to mistake your joke for something else amid these posts. There's a lot of people here posting things here that range from ignorance, flatout lies, to rampant famboism and unsubstantiated rumor-mongering.

  • @gyneve Mehhh... Your makin me blush. Its all "shits-n-giggles". Its youtube. One of the few places where you can make an utter ass of yourself and still come out clean.

In all honesty, Im actually anticipating what the finished car will look and perform like.

    Keep on rockin.

  • @originaldriver its covering up the acual design lol

  • Just call it a Supra.

  • @RaguelAngelofBalance

Actually its bringing back the AE-86 not the Supra.

  • @KielanP

I argree it bring the rwd corrolla not the supra.

  • A new Supra would be nice. And a hardy "fuck you" to the neg repper cowards.

  • amen to that!

  • Even if the production model of this car looked like this test mule I'd still be interested if it was a good car, forget cosmetics. Shoot, the dated styling would be unique! I'd rather have that then some agressive looking 4 cylinder.
