  • can anyone tell me, what that song in is called? I can't seem to find it anywhere?

  • Oiran is not Geisha. Geisha is Japanese traditional music and a professional of the dances. Oiran is a high-quality prostitute of the old times.

  • is this from the movie Sakuran? - it's a must get then

  • Not a geisha at all. Whoever decided to put the word geisha in there needs to read books.

  • I must get a DVD of this! Like others have said, it's not about geisha/geisya but

the world of the oiran in the old Yoshiwara pleasure quarters. Geisha were entertainers for the oiran's wealthy clients.

I think part of the reason Anna Tsuchiya took the role was that she looks a lot like

the character in the original manga images. Just a guess!

  • Oiran and geishas were completely different.

An Oiran is a high class prostitute. It shows on the knob of her belt, tied un the front.

A geisha is an artist performer : she doesn't sleeps with customer. The knob of her belt il tied in her back.

The movie is good, but You got it all wrong !!

  • I love the background music so much

  • This is not geisya movie. This is oiran movie.

  • she is not a geisha at all.

  • @jesjenanddom shes an oiran, i dont know why this person titled this movie "oiran geisha" anyway they are totally different things! besides this girl is not full japanese! they should have used some real pure japanese actor!

  • @jpowaraimania

She's a decent actress, besides, she's a lot more Japanese than Zhang Ziyi and the other women in "Memoirs of a Geisha".

  • love dis song

  • ok, what is the name of this song? Whatever the name of the song is, I like this version better than the one with harps and stuff. This one is raw, edgy, and fun.

  • It's "Gamble" by Shiina Ringo. :)

  • Ok. I think I found some searches on it, but I got the full orchestral version of it rather than this full out rock version that is so hauntingly beautiful. Especially to this scene here.

  • me too, i cant get this version and it's driving me crazy v__v

i only found a live version

  • Like Moulin Rouge combined with Memoirs of a Geisha.

  • Except with good acting, and an rough, beautiful soundtrack that stands on its own.

  • love the soundtrack. shina ringo rocks!!!

  • what movie is this?...does anyone know? and the song...this song so a good song to listen to...so if anyone knows, plz tell me...thx!

  • The movie is called (Sakuran). I absolutely love this movie and I love Anna Tsuchiya as Kiyoha in this movie.

  • thank you very much!

  • This was such a powerful scene in the movie.

    <3

  • Best Hanamachi Movie Ever!

  • I love getta shoes.

  • Actually,it is not neccessarily true.

Many of those ladies were drawn in ukiyoe-paint with slit eyes in Edo era but if you really look into how really people discribed about beautiness of women,it's not so far from that of today.

  • >Plus in those days, wasn't it more beautiful to have slit eyes?

    Yes it was.

I made a video which shows changing japanese bauties.

    watch?v=k_xwodyIo1c

  • So why blefaroplastic surgery is so popular in Asia :)?

  • Japanese people had felt slit eyes were beautiful till Westernization in Meiji era. Some European people laughed at Asian slit eyes, then Japanese got to feel ashamed of slit eyes.

  • i like there eyes ^^

  • I heard that they do surgery to make their eye more dramatic looking. Anyway, thanks for reply.

I think "beaty" is very different and I always find thoose "Miss Universe" etc. ridiculous: how they can compare complitelly different types of woman's beaty? The same with eyes: somebody likes slit eyes, somebody doesn't: depends on race and personality. nyway, I think so.

    P.S. a very beatyful video.

  • I'll am american all the way but i still think slanted eyes are so much more beautiful than straight ones.
