You seek the perfection, I seek the vivid character that cannot be achieved (in opera) w/o a "proper" voice and all that it implies. So my advice is, allow me, be more positive; for instance, you can share what you like in RK. Otherwise, it seems like you аre "unable to see the wood for the trees".

Excuse my impertinence but if you calibrate all singers acc. to your triada why you never expressed any criticism in regards to, for instance, Ponselle, Scotto, Freni, Caballe to mention some of the greatest interpreters of this role. While you did this in varios occasions for RK. Rather strange and illogical discrimination, isn't it? Having in mind your sincerity, impartiality and unerring ear.

I have a few RAI transmissions from the 50-60's period that have been put on DVD with acceptable picture and sound released through Hardy Classics, VAI, and Bel Canto. Do they have any influence with RAI (or does whoever actually did the remastering if there is an intermediary) I agree that much of what is currently coming out does not have the artistry of these earlier broadcasts; that is why we must try to convince by appealing to patrimonial pride/cultural history. None left in Italy?
You're right, the impulse must come from those who love opera and who cares for the True Art and from so called public TVs. In fact RAI broadcasts thematic channels but with very little opera and only excerpts from the period you're reffering to. I don't doubt that a lot left in Italy but I'm sceptical with respect to the willingness this to be re-issued in some form.
my question is how do we make it known to RAI etc. that we would provide a market for their making these wonderful transmissions available again in whatever form would give the best reproduction--streaming over the internet, DVD--whatever it takes. Something so uniquely beautiful should not be lost to us.
2. Nowadays tons of productions are being created. OK, they are good or decent but by no any means could come even close to such similar class. But thе market has its laws: sold or die. On the other hand, the people are not heartless and stupid by nature (I hope I don't exaggerate in both statements). It's so convinient the "old" to be forgotten. What a releife that people don't forget so easily... I wonder. BTW, this works both for the confined opera and global market of entertainment.
My regret is however all these treasures are forgotten somewhere in the dusty "Golden funds" of Italian, Bulgarian or whatever TVs that appear to promote the fake values and criteria instead of showing the horizon. So, dear RAI (in this case), please practice an active defense of your copyrights by remastering, showing and selling copies of these spectacles instead of splashing us with surrogates.
Kabaivanska is the greatest tragic singing-actress of them all! I cannot imagine someone better than Raina in Adriana /and not only.../ This is a stunning acting - extraordinary and so simple at the same time. Hers is a violin-like voice with tremendous power and heartbreaking thrills, that may "blow" you away. Thanks, Amlirco for the spiritual delight! Can't even begin to tell you, how much I appreciate all these amazing clips of Kabaivanska. The Genia on stage!
On my turn, I can't tell you how delighted I am to know someone shears my point of view and finds emotional relief watching Kabaivanska on stage. It's indeed rear and of great value and pureness beauty and endless process of search and finding both in philosophical sense.
Raina, being a humble servant of the opera, is in the same time one of the greatest philosophers of this noble and multilayer art.
