In my head I see a Benzedrine induced car chase through the desert highways of America with bodies of cops strewn across the landscape, and never stopping until they drive off the edge of a cliff into a sea and their car explodes
@rupertducker A amphetamine fueled indie band most famous for trashing their equipment and violence at their shows gets to be called "arthouse" now? I loved em but thats a stretch.
@turfturbo They may have had all the riotous shows back in they're very early days but the genuine fans (who went to their concerts 4 the right reasons) were surely a neutral, arthouse crowd ; J+MC were so original (with so much attitude !) with their gothic blend of indie + their own trademark 'noise' style. I saw Pixies in London few months ago (they played a J+MC song) + that had a proper neutral arty crowd ; J+MC are a similar style to the Pixies + must have attracted a similar crowd.
@turfturbo lets face it, they were by far THE most badly publicized band ever ! More mediocre 'respectable' acts were doing far worse drugs than the J+MC ! + Jim only got prosecuted for self defence, NOT for assaulting a fan !
I like the beat. I can drive to this song putting it up loud and cruising by. Altho I wouldve liked to see a video to it like a crusing one or someone in conflict on the streets :) It reminds me of some song I wouldve chosen for the movie grease. I liek it tho. I like the band. Thanks for posting it.
yeah ive read negative reviews but the ones i read seemed to not have a cohesive argumen,t I love this whole record darklands takes the fukin cake though i think. One time the girl working at the book store gave me liquid acid I then drove an hour to the dmv got my licence renewed (fully fucked) drove back to the beach put on my wetsuit and went surfing anyway automatic was the sound track for that hell tour (what is it? kill surf city?)
TJAMC's 3rd album represented an evolution from their previous albums. It was underrated when it was released back in 1989 as was their next album, "Honey's dead" (1992), to me, their better albums.
a band so good, even the pixies covered them

I was surprised when I heard this song. I don't think it's one of their better known ones but something about it just hits me.

Yeah, I agree. I think most of their work is over shadowed by Psychocandy. Nevertheless, they are one killer band.
