I was quite disappointed with the forsaken in WoW - they look like glorified skeletons to me. All the cool undead characters are either possesed humanoids without much damage to their body (Arthas, Sylvanas) or not human at all. Nobody rooted for "skeleton warriors" in W3 so i don't understand why they made them a playable race

I played wow since 2004 when it came out after playing W1,W2,W3 where I liked undead the most and so I wanted to pick the Forsaken. But when I saw their uberlame model I chose another race. It was really the biggest disapointment for me in WoW. They look like someone ate a human and shat out a skeleton. They're not dark or majestic like Arthas, Sylvanas or Kel'Thuzad- they're just completely lame zombie/skeleton mix.

I said I liked the undead race in W3 and so when Wow came out I wanted to pick the forsaken because they ARE undead. Even now, I like the Lich king's undead better (because Arthas > Sylvanas. Even though wow made him just another killable NPC and Sylvanas will never die because she's the leader of a playable faction). But I wanted to play the Forsaken because they are the closest to W3 undead. But I don't because they suck.

At the beginning of the expansion, Illidan attempted to cast a powerful spell that would split the Frozen Throne apart, thereby "killing" the Lich King. He didn't succeed and only fractured the Frozen Throne, and thereby weakened The Lich King. Weakened, The Lich King lost control over a good portion of the undead he commanded, including Sylvannas. The undead who regained their own free will are the faction in WoW called The Forsaken, lead by Sylvannas Windrunner herself.
