Paul was always quite the showman - more so than his pals. One of The Beatles' earliest booking agents observed that John was about rock-n-roll, while Paul was more about show tunes. And when Brian Epstein took over as manager, his direction (because his artistic views were more aligned with Paul's than John's) effectively made The Beatles "Paul's band", instead of John's. You can see his love of performing in clips like this one. He is quite the showman!

All these covers on YouTube are not playing it like Paul is. His fingering is so much easier to sing and play too. He doesn't read music, so he just plays what he hears in his head.

@HeavyBarrel I agree. I look at most people on YouTube covering Paul's bass parts, and where there exist video of Paul playing the piece live, Paul's fingerings are almost always better thought through and therefore simpler. This actually speaks to his great skill as a bassists.

I love how live, Paul is probably the only singer you'll find who can ever sound exactly, 100% like he does on a record. Even Plant and Mercury don't have that ability, and they're probably the two greatest singers who ever lived.
