Dang it moblitec you wasted the last week of mine on watching your videos. Please Continue wasting my time.
:)
As "boring" as your videos might be your restoration project is still worth watching. Sorry if my intentions aren't clear I'm posting while plastered.
TY 4 these vids mobiltec! I began work on a 14' 1976 Companion today (inside out). My 1st. Found more mold and rot than anticipated. Subfloor & some of the bottom plate must be replaced. Didn't know what I was getting into. Learned about trailer construction as I worked. Grew concerned that the skin needs to come off (scared the heck outta me!).
I googled for help. Found solice in your videos. Watched to 12b thus far & better understand the nature of this beast. I can do this!
@mobiltec Man I'd love an Airstream or Silverstreak etc. I love that rounded look. I'd enjoy restoring vintage trailers and would like to own a nice one myself! For now though I repair that Kit so I can live in it. I wont be reinstalling the kitchen, bathroom or overhead cabinets. Will set up a full size bed in the back. And an office desk in the front. Will have space for a comfy reading chair and narrow, short, cabinets along the side.
@aWhiteElk YES YOU CAN! It's not all that hard really. Just watch all my videos first and then get into it. Remember to keep the width the same or maybe even a bit smaller. No more than 1/8th of an inch though. You CAN do this. Make some videos of your progress and post them as video replies here if you want. I would love to see them.
@mobiltec Not sure yet how to go about this. I've an extremely limited budget and live in a very wet local. No access to a dry shop. Need to get it livable asap. But the subfloor and bottom plate replacements may leave me no choice but to skin it. I'll learn more by end of day. For now I strip what I can because my county is sponsoring a free dump this saturday!
I've no vid cam but I'll take some pics. Wish now that I'd taken some yesterday before begining.
@mobiltec I`m rebuilding a 1988 scotty that had some water damnage on both inds, not really bad, buit was showing through the indside, so I tore it apart. got the front ind almost done , gonna start on the back shortly, been watching your video for sometime now. Injoyable stuff, an a lot of info also. thanks , an I will keep on watching.
We love your videos!!!! Thanks for putting them up on YouTube. We are starting with our restoration today and we now feel more comfortable doing it after watching your video series. Again, thanks!!!! : )
This is interesting stuff. I have always enjoyed making things and doing things like this when I have the chance. It must be fun to be able to drive around with a trailer like that and say "I restored it myself!" Plus I like the idea of doing that some day, travel with a trailer and see more of the continent.
But part 23a? Dang! Now I have to go and watch the others. What have I gotten myself into subbing to your channel?
@CanadienAtheist And it's only half done. So there's a lot more "fun" to be had with this one. I picked this trailer up just for this video series. It needed EVERYTHING done to it so it made for a good project trailer.

@aWhiteElk Does anyone know of other good online resources relating to travel trailer repair and reconstruction?

@aWhiteElk LOL WhiteElk... There are some Airstream videos but they won't help you much unless you own an airstream...

Nice drill!

@cheapswede That's my work drill. I use it to mix wall texture with. It is also handy for making 30 gallons of mashed potatoes at once.

This little puppy has turned into as much of a project as my house. LOL
It's a real bite that you lost the ability to shelter it. It leaves you totally at the mercy of the weather.
